SAG-AFTRA and producers reached tentative agreements for film and television production. "We have established an industry-wide, basic cable agreement – something we have wanted for two decades," said union president Ken Howard. "We’ve also secured a very competitive wage package for members and a large bump in our pension, health and retirement contributions." The old deal, set to expire June 30, will remain in effect during the ratification process.
WE tv announced the launch of In Between, an online-based series that keeps viewers up to speed on what’s happening to the stars of its unscripted shows off-season. Allegations of sexual assault led to the exit of Clarence creator Skyler Page at Cartoon Network. After a female artist went public on Twitter with claims that she had been assaulted, a rep for the network said Thursday that Page was no longer an employee.

FX placed a 10-ep order for Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, created by and starring Denis Leary. He’s "elated" to be working with FX again said Leary (Rescue Me), adding, "They have a great platform for comedy, an award-winning marketing team and an amazing new Nespresso machine in the conference room."
FX sister net FXX is in ordering mode, too, grabbing 10 episodes of dating comedy Man Seeking Woman, starring SNL alum Jay Baruchel. Series is based on the Simon Rich book of short stories, The Last Girlfriend on Earth.
CBS issued a straight-to-series order for Zoo, a global thriller based on the James Patterson best-seller about a violent wave of animal attacks against humans. The CBS Television Studios production is slated for summer 2015.
Telemundo and Sony Pictures Television struck a three-year agreement calling for SPT to produce one primetime series per year for Telemundo in the U.S. Telemundo’s international sales division, Telemundo Internacional, will distribute the series worldwide. As part of the deal, SPT’s production company Teleset will produce the series in Mexico in association with Telemundo Studios. First series starts production in early 2015.

NBC‘s Tonight Show had its top-rated second quarter in five years among A18-49, posting 1.29/6 and 3.97 million total viewers, versus .67/3 and best-ever 2.67 million viewers for ABC‘s Jimmy Kimmel Live and .51/2 and 2.66 million viewers for CBS‘s Late Show with David Letterman. Year over year, Tonight was up 52 percent and Kimmel up 10 percent in the demo.
ABC‘s Nightline won the quarter in total viewers (1.69 million) in its first quarter in its new time slot, according to Nielsen, outdrawing NBC‘s Late Night with Seth Meyers by 111,000 and CBS‘s The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson by 298,000. Among A18-49, Late Night was tops with .57/4, versus .42/2 for Nightline and .36/2 for Late Late Show.
Crediting the NBA Playoffs and the NCAA Championship, as well as a strong start for its summer lineup, TNT boasts it was basic cable’s top network in prime time among total viewers and all key adult demos for 2Q14.
VH1‘s primetime ratings jumped 16 percent for the second quarter of 2014, fueled by Hit the Floor, basic cable’s top drama among W18-49, and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, cable’s number one reality show among A18-49, reports the net. VH1 averaged .4 among A18-49, and 696,000 total viewer primetime impressions in the quarter.
With an assist from Mountain Monsters, Hillbilly Blood and BBQ Pitmasters, Destination America had its best quarter ever in Prime and Total Day in all key demos. Driven by the best seasons ever of The Little Couple and 19 Kids and Counting, the net was the number one ad-supported cable network in delivery among W25-54 and number two among W18-49 on Tuesday night in 2Q14.
Investigation Discovery scored its best-ever 2Q in Prime, up 19 percent (to 783,000) in P2+, up 22 percent (to 651,000) among P25-54 and up 15 percent (to 273,000) among P18-49 versus 2Q13. Results were driven by four series averaging over one million P2+ viewers: Unusual Suspects (1.2 million), Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall (1.09 million), Swamp Murders (1.05 million) and The Perfect Murder (1.04 million).
Rebranded American Heroes Channel experienced its best June ever in Prime delivery among P2+ (230,000) and HH (192,000). The premiere of AHC’s original special, Hitler’s Jurassic Zoo (Monday, June 2), was one of the net’s the top three original premieres ever for Prime delivery among P2+ (470,000), HH (392,000) and P25-54 (205,000).
Science Channel boasted its highest-rated second quarter ever for P2+ (up 16 percent, to 312,000) and P18-49 (up 18 percent, to 118,000) in prime, the net’s 11th consecutive quarter of P2+ year-over-year prime growth.
Fast-growing men’s net Velocity saw gains in 2Q14 in all Persons ratings (P25-54/18-49/18-34), with five of seven nights showing steady or improved ratings growth for P25-54, and all non-prime dayparts growing both P25-54 and M25-54 ratings.
