IN THE NEWS

NBCUniversal wrapped a record Upfront, topping $7 billion in its advertising bounty with gains in both rate and volume and a significant draw for its streaming service Peacock. Compared with 2020, volume in 2021-22 gained 21 percent and pricing escalated 23 percent. Among key headlines, despite Covid delays and uncertainty the company’s streaming service Peacock, the majority of whose viewers have opted for the free, ad-supported version, drove $500 million in net new commitments in this year’s Upfront, compared with $100 million from initial launch sponsors, according to the company. NBCU also scored big with its suite of owned digital properties as well as monetizable positions on broad platforms like YouTube and Snapchat.
