Gordon Ramsay announced on his web site that he’s ceasing production of Kitchen Nightmares, which just wrapped season seven on Fox. "It’s time to call it a day," said Ramsay, who’s hardly cutting ties with the net – Hell’s Kitchen, Hotel Hell, MasterChef and MasterChef Junior are still on Fox’s sked.

IN THE NEWS

Viacom‘s attempt to have Cablevision‘s antitrust lawsuit dismissed was rejected by a federal judge, who found that evidence of illegal bundling of channels could "support plausibly an inference of anticompetitive effects." Viacom countered with a statement saying its licensing agreements "are flexible, competitive and the result of good-faith negotiations with distributors. We are confident that Cablevision will fail to prove the facts required to prevail."

Fusion and popular platform Whisper announced a content partnership that calls for integration of the anonymous, secret-sharing app’s posts into the net’s digital and TV platforms. "Whisper creates community and compelling conversation around the news and issues that are important to our young, diverse audience," saidFusion CEO Isaac Lee. "By incorporating Whisper content into our reporting, we’ll be able to expand and enhance our ability to tell stories from a unique perspective."

President Bill Clinton will honor Edie Windsor and Roberta Kaplan on the one-year anniversary of declaring the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional, for Logo TV‘s event honoring pioneers who have broken new ground for LGBT civil rights. Trailblazers premieres Thursday, June 26 at 9p.

Music Choice is celebrating Pride Week on Music Play this week with artists including Jared Leto, Lance Bass, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Neon Hitch and Adam Lambert talking about what Pride means to them; teens from The Gay Center in New York join the conversation to share their views on LGBT rights.

The social media personalities chosen to cover the Daytime Emmys red carpet, Brittany Furlan, Lauren Elizabeth, Jessica Harlow and Meghan Rosette, clearly hadn’t done their daytime homework, but it wasn’t their lack of TV knowledge that had the soap community – among others – in a lather. "We’re going to get you away from us before we rape you," one told General Hospital‘s Ryan Paevy; another introduced Bold and Beautiful star Lawrence Saint-Victor as "a beautiful chocolate man." Watching the livestreamed event unfold Sunday night, GH’s Nancy Grahn warned her daytime brethren on Twitter, "Avoid the red carpet at all costs. Save yourselves!"

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Showtime issued a pilot order for half-hour comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, co-created, exec produced and written by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada) and Rachel Bloom (Robot Chicken). The CBS Television Studios pilot will be directed and exec produced by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer).

Starz greenlit 13-part anthology series The Girlfriend Experience, inspired by Steven Soderburgh‘s 2009 Magnolia Pictures film. Soderbergh and Philip Fleishman will exec produce the Transactional Pictures series along with Lodge Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz, who will also write and direct. "We’re in an exciting period of auteur-driven television right now," said Soderbergh.

AMC is taking another Turn. The net ordered a second season of the Revolutionary War drama, which drew 1.61 million viewers for its June 8 finale. "AMC and its creative partners have a track record of nurturing programs we collectively believe in, patiently growing viewership and engagement over time," said AMC president Charlie Collier.

BRANDS & ADVERTISING

Broadcast network ad spending rose 9.7 percent in 1Q14, reports Kantar Media. Olympics coverage, plus increased spending on the Super Bowl and NFL playoffs, fueled the lift. Cable spending was up 6.2 percent, and syndication increased 3.2 percent. The biggest winner: Spanish language TV, up 18 percent, per Kantar.

COMING UP

Barbara Walters‘ previously announced interview with Peter Rodger, father of Santa Barbara shooting suspect Elliot Rodger, will air on ABC‘s 20/20 Friday, June 27 at 10p. That morning, the broadcast legend will promote the 20/20 interview during her first guest appearance on The View since "retiring" from her morning perch in May.

A sickening stiletto obsession. Twisted rituals. "Bondage that goes beyond"… yup, it’s a new show on ID! Dark Temptations explores freaky fetishes starting Wednesday, July 2 at 10p.

An American Mosque follows the story of a 1994 hate crime in Northern California, when an Islamic mosque was burned to the ground, then rebuilt with multi-faith support. The documentary has its broadcast premiere on World Channel Sunday, July 6 at 9:30p, during Ramadan.

Add THIRTEEN Presented By Under Armour to the Outdoor Channel‘s summer lineup. The series follows hunting legends Mark and Terry Drury, MLB power hitter Jim Thome and Rascal Flatts front man Gary LeVox through a season of whitetail hunting. Premiere date: Tuesday, July 1 at 10p.

Is a zombie apocalypse possible? That’s the question of the day on Science‘s Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman on Wednesday, June 25 at 10p. The answer? Maybe….

TCM honors Ruby Dee on Saturday, June 28 with double feature The Edge of the City at 4:15p, followed by A Raisin in the Sun at 5:45p. Dee died June 11 at age 91.

Nat Geo takes a look at controversial subcultures in American Fringe, a six-part docu-series debuting Wednesday, July 9 at 10p. The premiere follows a white supremacist’s attempts to create a "Nazi town" in North Dakota.

RETURNING SERIES

Bravo‘s Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles is back in "the city that started it all" for season seven. Agents Josh Altman and Josh Flagg are joined by two new faces in a red-hot market starting Wednesday, August 20 at 9p.

Lifetime‘s Project Runway returns Thursday, July 24 at 9p. Guest judges on lucky season 13 include Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars) and Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn.

SUMMER STUNTS

Syfy‘s Independence Day Twilight Zone marathon runs Friday, July 4 from 8a-8p, then for good measure on Saturday, July 5 from 12-4a.

AXS TV‘s "5th of July Comedy High-Five" features five hours of the net’s Gotham Comedy Live stand-up show, starting with Tommy Davidson (In Living Color) at 3p.

An offer you can’t refuse: PBS is running a "Gangster Night" primetime programming block Tuesday, July 22. Al Capone: Icon airs at 8p, followed by the premiere of History Detectives Special Investigations‘ "Who Killed Jimmy Hoffa?" at 9p.

Sunday’s U.S.-Portugal nail-biter on ESPN was the most-watched U.S. soccer match ever, delivering 18.2 million viewers, and the most-watched sports event ever on the net excluding football. With 6.5 million of its own viewers, Univision scored the most eyeballs it’s ever drawn for a U.S. match.
