– Acorn.TV will premiere Britain’s Bloodiest Dynasty, The Plantagenets on June 15 (today) on the streaming platform.
YouTube is ramping up the video game live streaming competition this summer. After Amazon snatched up Twitch in a $1 billion deal from Google a year ago, YT is now working on its own site and app dedicated to video game live streams. Called YouTube Gaming, there will be a page for each of the 25,000 featured games with live streams. Alan Joyce, YT’s Product Manager, wrote in a blog, “You can search with confidence, knowing that typing ‘call’ will show you ‘Call of Duty’ and not ‘Call Me Maybe.’” The announcement was made in advance of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) from June 16-18 in Los Angeles.
Amazon will release the first episode of Catastrophe, a UK comedy from comedian Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan, for free on Facebook starting today (Monday) at 4p ET. The pilot will be available to stream on Amazon’s Facebook page exclusively for 48 hours before going up on Amazon Prime Instant Video. Catastrophe is a half-hour series originally picked up from UK’s Channel 4, following an American man and an Irish woman who struggle to start their relationship after she gets pregnant.
Evolve Media‘s CraveOnline Media, an online male lifestyle publisher, debuted original documentary INSPIRED. Series features profiles of influencers across style, music, entertainment, sports and gaming. The first three episodes center on Waraire Boswell, April Roomet and Michael Fisher. INSPIRED joins other CraveOnline originals such as food and drink series Nosh Pit, and the new monthly Hot Girl Walks By series.
Sharknado fans can once again “shark” their selfies in Syfy’s Go Shark Yourself updated app. In advance of the July 22 return of Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, fans can upload a photo of themselves and insert it into any number of scenes inspired by the Sharknado franchise – including the latest installment or settings from NYC locales featured in Sharknado 2. Throughout the week of the (9p ET) broadcast, Syfy will air special spots that showcase the photos of people who have used the Go Shark Yourself app. The app is available for iOS and Android devices.
…in more Syfy news: the net and LG Electronics USA launched an interactive TV experience with the Syfy Sync for LG Smart TV app. The app will recognize episodes viewers are watching and deliver contextual content to their LG Smart TV in real time. To kick off the new tech, LG Smart TV viewers can tune into the Season 3 premiere of Defiance on June 12 at 9p ET for behind-the-scenes trivia, participate in interactive polls and learn more about the backstory of the series.

Mountain Dew and CMT repurposed the clip on their digital and social channels for users to tune in again to the performance a week later.
David Letterman fans won’t be able to rewind back to their favorite show moments on YouTube anymore, now that all the host’s clips taken down last week. The reason? Copyright. “Now that the show has ended, these digital rights revert back to the show’s copyright owner, Worldwide Pants," a spokesperson for CBS told Vulture. For now, future host Stephen Colbert will be the only one featured in the Late Show’s YT page.
