Game 2 of the 2017 Stanley Cup Final on NBCSN, saw the Penguins’ win generate an average Total Audience Delivery of 3.278 million viewers for a markup of 27% over. last year’s Game 2, according to Nielsen. The contest now ranks as the second-most watched Stanley Cup Final Game 2 on cable since 2002 and posted a 1.84 household rating, with an average of 3.180 million TV-only viewers. Locally, Pittsburgh delivered a 31.1 local rating, the best ever for a Penguins game in the market on NBCSN, while Nashville posted a 16.3 local mark.

CBS Sports
is partnering with Tough Mudder to expand their multi-year media partnership to debut all Tough Mudder programming on CBS with encore presentations of the shows running on CBS Sports Network in prime time. Overall, CBS will broadcast seven shows this year starting July 22 and features the launch of the new sports event, Tough Mudder X, described as “The Ultimate Race to Determine the Fittest and the Fastest Athletes in the World” that premieres on Aug. 27 at 1p. “We are excited to expand our partnership with Tough Mudder and debut all programming, including the innovative new Tough Mudder X, on CBS,” said Dan Weinberg, Executive Vice President of Programming for CBS Sports. “We look forward to further showcasing Tough Mudder’s world class athletes and competitions, and all the drama surrounding their biggest events.”
 
NBC Sports Group
and the World Rowing Federation are teaming up for an exclusive US media rights agreement for the 2017 World Rowing Championships. NBC Sports Group will carry more than ten hours of coverage of the event starting Sept. 28. NBC Sports anticipates utilizing NBCSN, The Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app and possibly other platforms to provide more comprehensive U.S. coverage of the numerous events included in the agreement than ever before.
 
The World Long Drive Association stages the first of three live television events this year with the ‘
Clash in the Canyon
” on June 6 in primetime on Golf Channel at 8p. The new event is held in partnership with
Golf Mesquite Nevada
and will be staged June 3-6 at the Mesquite Regional Sports and Event Complex and mark the first time ever that the Women’s Division will air live on television with production utilizing six dedicated cameras, including a SuperMo camera as well as a crane-positioned camera as well as a custom graphics package suited to the anomalous swing data typically generated by Long Drive competitors, tracking club speed, ball speed and apex in real-time via Trackman.

The Oakland Raiders locked in local media partners for their upcoming home in Las Vegas. The team announced that – beginning this season Raiders preseason games will now air on the local Fox affiliate courtesy of a new deal that runs through 2019. Fox 5 also will carry the weekly program “Silver and Black Show,” Meanwhile, the Raiders also signed a two-year contract with Beasley Media Group to serve as the team’s flagship radio station in Las Vegas.

The deal will see the brand activate at the Fan Fest outside Talen Energy Stadium on June 3-4 with Dunkin’ Donuts bringing their Community Cruiser and a team of brand ambassadors, offering fans in attendance at the World’s Largest Rugby Festival free samples of Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee, and more.
 
The NBA and the Panini Group announced a long-term, multiyear extension of its exclusive partnership to remain the exclusive trading card and sticker partner for the NBA globally. The Panini Group’s U.S. subsidiary, Panini America, will continue to manage the partnership.

locked in a multi-year, strategic partnership with US Youth Soccer. ESPN
announced plans for Streak, a new game available globally in the ESPN Fantasy App that offers fans a chance to win prizes and compete against friends and ESPN personalities by predicting the outcome of sports games and events around the world every day. The new Streak has been completely redesigned and re-imagined with new features and visual cues with the goal of building the longest winning streak, collect the most wins, or “Beat the Expert” by building a longer streak than an ESPN personality in the current month. This month, Streak will award a total of up to $35,000 in prizes.

Riot Games
formalized its long-term plans for League of Legends, revealing a new franchising model for the North American League of Legends Championship Series that will include an application process for teams, revenue sharing, a players’ association and more. According to Bloomberg, franchises will cost $10 million for existing NA LCS organizations, while newcomers to the scene will need to pay an extra $3 million to compensate teams not selected to the group of 10 for the 2018 season. Teams will no longer face relegation under the new model, noting that “Removing the uncertainty around relegation will enable teams to be able to better plan for their future, and to make long term bets and investments in the league,” the company states. After the announcement, Joost van Dreunen, CEO & Co-Founder at SuperData Research, noted that

The implementation of a franchise model means greater stability and more predictability for brands. As the number of teams has started to grow in recent years, it has been challenging for advertisers to figure out who and how to sponsor.”
