NBCUniversal struck a commerce partnership with Wells Fargo that integrates Wells Fargo’s credit cards into NBCUniversal’s One Platform Commerce. Wells Fargo will be sponsoring NBCU content, starting with last night’s season premiere of Bravo’s “Project Runway,” where fans were able to shop the using the Must ShopTV ad innovation. “Bravo’s ‘Project Runway’ has been part of my life for over a decade. It’s given me a platform to share my designs, creativity, and vision as well as connect with the fashion community,” said Christian Siriano, “Project Runway” Mentor. “By collaborating with NBCUniversal and their partners at Wells Fargo, we have the opportunity to further support these designers as they grow their businesses.”

CoxReps and Gamut have merged to form Locality, a new company offering the local broadcast experience of Cox Reps, and tech streaming expertise of Gamut. “We are uniting technology and people from the best local TV partners in both broadcast and streaming and investing in the companies to address the needs of advertisers,” said Locality Executive Chairman Mark Rosenthal. “By unlocking the tremendous power of local, we can drive more dollars to local video providers nationwide.” Ann Hailer, who had been President of CoxReps, is Locality’s President of Broadcast, while Keith Kazerman, who had been President of Gamut, is President of Streaming. Both execs report to Rosenthal.

“Silo” was renewed for season two by Apple TV+. “It has been enormously fulfilling to see the engrossing, atmospheric and beautifully crafted sci-fi epic ‘Silo’ quickly become Apple’s number one drama series,” said Matt Cherniss, Head of Programming for Apple TV+. “As audiences around the world have become gripped by the mysteries and conspiracies buried within this fascinating subterranean world, viewership only continues to climb, and we are so excited for more secrets of the silo to be revealed in season two.”

Also picked up for a second season is Netflix’s “Physical 100.” The series was the first unscripted series to hit #1 on the streamer’s weekly rankings for non-English TV shows. And the streamer has renewed “XO, Kitty”, the spinoff of “To All the Boys”.

The 2024 “People’s Choice Awards” have been set for Sunday, February 18 at 8p. The ceremony will air on NBC for the first time, as well as Peacock and E!. The two-hour telecast will include categories in movies, television, music and pop culture, as well as several honorary awards.

Charter Communications has awarded $400,000 in scholarships to the 2023 class of Spectrum Scholars, the company’s annual college scholarship program for underrepresented students with financial need. Each of the 20 students in this year’s class will receive a $20,000 scholarship, be assigned a Charter mentor and have the opportunity to pursue an internship at one of the company’s corporate offices in Stamford, Charlotte, St. Louis or Denver.

National Geographic has greenlit “The Cancer Vaccine” (wt), a documentary special that will follow Ugur Sahin and Özlem Türeci – the husband-and-wife team who built German biotechnology giant BioNTech – as they and their team race competitors, skeptics and governments to create a new class of medicines that use the body’s own defenses to defeat cancer.

Alex Cooper, host and EP of podcast “Call her Daddy, and ACE Entertainment founder and CEO Matt Kaplan (“XO Kitty”), have launched media company Trending. The venture will focus on scripted and unscripted podcast, digital media, touring and other Gen Z-focused content.

Fox is developing an animated series based on “Daddy Issues,” the podcast hosted by NFL announcer Joe Buck and Oliver Hudson (“The Cleaning Lady”). The ensemble buddy comedy, which has a script commitment, follows the true-life experiences of best friends Buck and Hudson.

Promotions at Debmar-Mercury talker “Sherri”: Fernita Wynn has been upped to executive producer and showrunner; Joelle Dawson-Calia has been promoted to executive producer; and Siobhan Schanda and Dan Fitzpatrick were named co-executive producers. The syndicated show returns for season two on September 18.

ID’s hit docuseries “The Curious Case of Natalia Grace” follows the story of a couple whose adoption goes awry when they come to believe their little girl is actually a sociopathic woman with a hormonal disorder. Shannon Evangelista, Executive Producer and co-founder of Hot Snakes Media and the creator of the true crime tale, tells how the series came to be, in Cynsiders.

Hulu’s unscripted slate is expanding the streamer is moving forward with three series. Antwan “Big Boi” Patton will lead “Big RV Remix”, a renovation format set to debut on July 21; “Rachael Ray’s Rebuild” teams Ray with contractor Anthony Carrino (“Kitchen Cousins”) to help families whose homes have been destroyed; and investigative journalist Bill Kurtis narrates true crime show “Cold Case Files: DNA Speaks”, a spinoff of “Cold Case Files”, premiering August 17. Hulu has also ordered a second season of “50/50 Flip.”

On the heels of the success of “The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story,” Lifetime is reteaming with Elizabeth Smart, who will executive produce Ripped from the Headlines movie, “Abducted by My Teacher: The Elizabeth Thomas Story.” The film, detailing the story of a young girl kidnapped by a trusted teacher, premieres Saturday, August 12 at 8p.

Casting Notes: Stockard Channing, Cary Elwes, Rob Huebel, Christopher Lloyd and Paul Scheer have joined the cast of “Knuckles.” The series, from Paramount+, Paramount Pictures and SEGA, is a spinoff of “Sonic the Hedgehog.”


OWN docuseries “Time of Essence” will debut Friday, August 18 at 9p. The five-parter celebrates the trailblazing magazine that reaches a global community of over 20 million Black women.

Season two of Discovery’s “Hoffman Family Gold” premieres tomorrow, June 16 at 9p. The outspoken gold miner and star and executive producer of the show, Todd Hoffman, shared a few thoughts with Cynopsis.
What’s the most unexpected thing to happen on the show?
“A huge grizzly bear runs into the claim and tries to eat one of my dad’s adopted foxes.”

“Generations,” the Jewish-themed genealogy series produced by the Museum of Jewish Heritage — A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, JewishGen, and JLTV, will launch in Fall 2023. The premiere features actors Camryn Manheim (“Law and Order”) and her son, Milo Manheim (“Zombies”), exploring their DNA and family roots.

Season three of CBS’s “Secret Celebrity Renovation” has a new premiere date. Originally slated to debut on July 28, the season will now bow Friday, August 4 at 8p.

STARZ workplace comedy “Minx” returns Friday, July 21 on the Starz app at 12a. The show’s linear debut follows at 9p.

Season five of “Buried in the Backyard” arrives Saturday, July 1 at 8p on Oxygen.


Fuse Media celebrates Juneteenth and the Black American community with special programming on Fuse, FM, Fuse+ and the Shades of Black FAST channel, including Shades of Black hosting the world premiere of the “Juneteenth Honors” awards and music show starting at 8p.

Ovation TV will re-air its episode of “Inside the Actors Studio” featuring the late Treat Williams on Sunday, June 18 at 11a. Williams was interviewed by The Actors Studio co-president Alec Baldwin at Pace University in December 2019.

Focus Features’ “Polite Society” bows on Peacock on Friday, June 16. The action-comedy film explores the importance of family, love and fighting for what you believe in.


In a move towards building a clean room, Nielsen introduced the Nielsen Media Data Room, which the company will bring to market by working with Snowflake and using its Media Data Cloud as the underlying platform. The first data set made available under this initial implementation will be Nielsen Respondent Level Data, a modeled, representative subsample from 35 million homes, for US National linear television. “Nielsen has always been a company leading the way in how it uses data in powerful ways on behalf of our customers,” said Srini Varadarajan, Chief Technology Officer for Audience Measurement. “The modernization of our data architecture in service of delivering analytics to customers in a highly customizable, secure and reliable cloud-based environment is yet another example of how we innovate to serve the complex needs of the media ecosystem.”

Google and YouTube introduced new AI-powered ad solutions, Demand Gen and Video View. Demand Gen campaigns offer a set of unique features designed especially for the needs of social marketers. Users’ best-performing video and image assets are integrated across YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Discover and Gmail. With Video View campaigns, brands can maximize views across in-stream, in-feed and YouTube Shorts, all within a single campaign. In early testing, Video View campaigns have achieved an average of 40% more views compared to in-stream skippable cost-per-view campaigns, said the company.

Omnichannel ad exchange Sharethrough announced two initiatives that will lower carbon emissions from ad campaigns while providing brands with a cleaner advertising ecosystem: removing Made-for-Advertising sites by default, and the availability of Low-Emission private marketplaces at no extra cost for advertisers. “The combination of our measure, reduce, compensate Green Media Product initiative and automatic removal of MFA sites allows advertisers to progress their sustainability and supply path optimization initiatives into what could be called ‘carbon path optimization’,” said JF Cote, CEO at Sharethrough.

Integral Ad Science announced an expansion with TikTok, bringing its Total Media Quality brand safety and suitability measurement product to advertisers in 23 new markets. It further cements IAS’s partnership with TikTok and adds to the seven countries where brand and safety suitability went live in October 2022.

Vizio has debuted a new content discovery feature tied to its WatchFree+ service and smart TV interface. NBC Universal’s Peacock has signed on as its first content partner. Content Connections allows users to move directly from Vizio’s free ad-supported streaming TV to subscription services.


Jay Monahan informed the PGA TOUR Policy Board that he is recuperating from a “medical situation.” The news comes a week after Monahan announced that the tour had reached a partnership deal with Saudi-bankrolled LIV Golf.
