Ryan Seacrest and Conde Nast parent company Advance Publications announced a $2 million investment in web-artist music festival DigiTour Media. DigiTour started in 2010, and this year boy band Our Second Life and Vine star Nash Grier will headline the festival, with close to 100,000 attendees expected in a dozen cities. "It’s becoming easier to make a social star or mainstream star than ever before, because to the teen audience they’re one in the same," DigiTour founder Meridith Valiando told Cynopsis. "Fans have spoken, and if a celebrity is measured in tickets sold or revenues banked, then many online stars are giving the ‘traditional ones’ a run for their money."

Yahoo relaunched Yahoo Movies as a digital catalogue. The new vertical will provide movie recommendations, critiques, interviews with actors, and sneak peaks of upcoming films. Through Yahoo Splash Ads, Disney Pictures integrated with the magazine’s launch to debut a trailer for the upcoming film Million Dollar Arm.
The set-top-box given to pay-TV providers has been key for the cable and satellite provider business. Apple‘s Steve Jobs even said that pay TV providers are preventing innovation in the industry because of the OTT box. Over-the-top content provider Beauty TV is bringing back digital video series Beauty TV Minute on its YouTube, Roku, TiVo’s Hot List app and more. YT make-up and nail guru Julie G (500,000+ subs, 118 million total views) hosts the beauty how-to episodes, with occasional appearances from make-up artists JoJo McCarthy and other experts.
Univision and T-Mobile have teamed for a wireless service designed for Hispanic Americans. Univision Mobile will cater to this audience with "no-contract" plans, address international calling needs and provide a Univision portal of news, entertainment sports and apps like UVideos and Uforia. Walmart and 6000 independent dealers will start offering the service May 19.
Amazon Studios will roll out three new original children’s TV shows starting next week. The first of the three six-ep series to debut: preschool animated series Tumble Leaf, on May 23. Preschool program Creativity Galaxy follows on June 27, with live-action series Annedroids arriving July 25. Two more kids’ programs, Wishenpoof! and Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street are in the pilot process.
Former Twin Peaks actress Joan Chen has been cast in Netflix‘s upcoming original series Marco Polo, set for a late 2014 release. Chen will play the Chabi, the empress of the Yuan Dynasty. The ten-ep series also stars Lorenzo Richelmy, Benedict Wong and Zhu Zhu.
Video platform Pluto.TV‘s new myPluto allow users to save programs to an online library for viewing anytime. "With myPluto, our viewers can curate their own list of favorites, from music videos to comedy shows to non-stop cat videos for free," CEO and co-founder Tom Ryan said. Pluto.TV includes content from partners like Funny or Die, QVC, Rocketlump and The Young Turks, available to watch on the web or through iOS and Android devices.

1) Card Store: 1,323,199 shares; not in top 100 last month; notable campaign was Card Store: World’s Toughest Job with 1,323,199 million shares.
2) Thai Life insurance: 1,198,311 shares; not in top 100; notable campaign was TVC Thai Life Insurance with 1,176,502 shares.
3) Castrol: 933,742 shares; not in top 100; notable campaign was Castrol: Footkhana with 850,458 shares.
4) Nike: 863,626 shares; placed 31st last month; notable campaign was Nike: Winner Stays with 779,335 shares.

TubeFilter released the Top 100 Most Viewed YouTube Channels Worldwide for the month of April. Highlights include:
– The Chart Toppers: PewDiePie once again snagged first with 296.72 million views. Katy Perry‘s VEVO channel took second at 256.2 million views last month, and Disney CollectorBR rang in at third with 192.3 million views. Stampylonghead rolled in at fourth with 177.2 million views last month.
– Top Gainers: With the 2014 FIFA World Cup right around the corner, the top gainer was Nike Football for its first online video spot to launch before the worldwide event. Nike Football: Winner Stays reeled in 66.9 million views, an 843 percent increase from the previous month.
– Top Channel Distributors: VEVO came in first with 22 channels in the Top 100. Maker Studios was second with 9 channels, and Fullscreen and Machinima tied at third with five channels.
"It’s no surprise the YouTube channel with the most subscribers in the world is also the YouTube channel that gets the most views in the world," TubeFilter’s co-founder Joshua Cohen told Cynopsis. "What is surprising is how massive that viewership is when you start to break down the numbers. Felix Kjellberg’s PewDiePie YouTube channel currently boasts more than 26 million subscribers in April 2014, and those subs and YT viewers at large watched videos on the channel more than 296 million times. That means, over the course of the 30 days of April, PewDiePie scored roughly 9,855,650 views per day, 411,900 views per hour, 6,865 views per second, and more than 114 views per minute."
