After David Lynch tweeted that he would not be directing Showtime’s Twin Peaks reboot “because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done,” Showtime issued its own statement. “We believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on a few remaining deal points,” said the net. “We continue to hold out hope that we can bring [Twin Peaks] back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm.”
A&E reality show Neighbors with Benefits was canceled after just two episodes. Set in suburban Ohio, the series from Haymaker followed couples who engage in a “swinging” lifestyle.
While Giuliana Rancic was quick to apologize for comments she made about the dreadlocks Disney Channel star Zendaya wore to the Oscars in February, the Fashion Police co-host explained on NBC’s Today Show Monday that in fact her remarks about hippie culture had been edited out of context. “In the editing process some of the gestures I made and some of the things I said were taken out for time,” said Rancic. “I see why people took offense.”
Cameron Mathison joined Entertainment Tonight as a correspondent and weekend co-anchor. The All My Children alum had worked as a guest correspondent on the show.
Syfy greenlit a pilot for drama Incorporated, from Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Pearl Street Films, with CBS Television Studios and Universal Cable Productions. Thriller focuses on an executive forced to change his identity to infiltrate the cut-throat corporate world.
Six episodes of Transcendent, about transgender life in America, were ordered by Fuse for a fall premiere. The docu-series from World of Wonder Productions “is yet another example of where the new Fuse is headed as a network seeking to engage a diverse Millennial audience whose tastes know no cultural boundaries,” said Fuse Media, Inc. president Bill Hilary.
David Semel, exec producer of Madam Secretary, signed an overall deal with CBS Television Studios. He’ll carry on with Madam while producing and directing other projects.
The Weinstein Company is planning to sell its television division to UK’s ITV, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The company could fetch as much as $950 million figuring in an escalating package of compensation and bonuses, calculates THR.
Diane Sawyer’s interview with Bruce Jenner will air as a special two-hour edition of ABC’s 20/20 on Friday, April 24. It is expected that in Bruce Jenner – The Interview, the former Olympian/Kris Jenner ex will open up about his his yet-to-be-officially-confirmed gender transition.

On a soft holiday weekend, Sunday’s opening of NBC event series A.D. The Bible Continues, the follow up to Mark Burnett and Roma Downey mini-series hit The Bible, averaged a strong 2.3 rating among A18-49 and 9.5 million viewers in early Nielsens, making it the top-rated show on broadcast for the night (though down from the 3.3 A18-49/13.1 million viewers for History’s Bible bow). The net’s premiere of drama American Odyssey drew a 1.2 in the demo and 5.4 million viewers.
Destination America had its best quarter ever among HH, P2+ and M25-54/18-49 Prime delivery for 1Q15 and ranked in the top 20 fastest-growing ad-supported cable networks among HH and P2+ delivery for the quarter.With the series premiere of Impact Wrestling and the return of Mountain Monsters, DA captured over 41.94M unique viewers in Live+3 over the course of the quarter. The net also had its best March ever in Prime among HH, P2+ and P/M/W25-54/18-49 delivery, with 69 percent growth in Daytime delivery gains among W25-54 versus March 2014.
Science Channel is also boasting its best quarter ever, in primetime and total day, with significant increases in key demos in Live+3. Gains in primetime included P25-54 (up 18 percent) M25-54 (up 22 percent) P18-49 (up 22 percent) M18-49 (up 26 percent) and P2+ (383,000, up 18 percent) during 1Q15. In total day, there were gains among P25-54 (up 21 percent), M25-54 (up 25 percent), P18-49 (up 22 percent), M18-49 (up 27 percent) and P2+ (up 22 percent).
ABC Family was cable TV’s top network in prime for the second consecutive quarter in W18-34 (261,000/.8 rating) and F12-34 (380,000/.8), and was in the top 10 ranks for the second quarter in a row with A18-34 (number 6 – 339,000/.5 rating), A18-49 (number 9 – 568,000/.4), W18-49 (number 3 – 422,000/.7 rating) and Viewers 12-34 (number 7 – 484,000/.5 rating).
ID closed 1Q15 as the number three net in ad-supported cable for total day in W25-54, with its best quarter ever in prime and total day delivery in Live+3 among prime viewers P2+ (928,000), P18-49 (337,000) and M25-54 (153,000), and in total day among P2+ (722,000) and M25-54 (123,000). “Compelling mysteries, salacious stories and heartbreaking investigations throughout the day and evening, 24/7 all presented in ID’s signature storytelling style continues to prove ‘crime pays!’” Henry Schleiff, Discovery Communications Group President, tells Cynopsis.
The March 31 19 Kids & Counting wedding special on TLC delivered 4.3 million P2+ viewers and a 3.5 rating among W25-54. The two-hour event was number one in all of television from 8p-10p with W18-49/18-34 and P18-34. New series 7 Little Johnstons drew a 1.5 rating among W25-54 and averaged 2.0 million P2+ viewers, making TLC the number one net in all of television with P/W/18-34 delivery.
TV One’s 30th Annual Easter Stellar Awards delivered .39 (228,000) among P25-54, its most-watched weekend primetime premiere of the year in the demo, and third-most-watched telecast on the net this year. The show scored a .62 HH rating (354,000) and .58 W25-54 (174,000). Premiere and encores combined to reach 1.1 million viewers. “We’re thrilled by the viewer response to the Stellar Awards – the show was a perfect programming event for Easter Sunday,” net president Brad Siegel tells Cynopsis.
Estrella TV talent competition Tengo Talento Mucho Talento broke new season records with double digit increases across all targets in its first week of the new season. The net boasts a record performance coming out of 1Q15, posting gains in all adult targets.
The premiere of Star vs. The Forces of Evil was Disney XD’s top animated series premiere in its 15-year history in total viewers (1.2 million). Across its premiere and encores to date, the show has reached over 3.9 million unique total viewers, including 2.0 million Kids 2-11 and 1.5 million Kids 6-11 in Live+3.
