The series premiere of Spike’s Lip Sync Battle on Thursday delivered 2.2 million viewers, making it the most-watched non-scripted series debut in the network’s history. The episode – in which (spoiler alert) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson defeated Jimmy Fallon, creator of the lip sync craze on his NBC late night show – also scored the highest rating among A18-49 in network history for a non-scripted series bow (1.3).

IN THE NEWS

Boxing fans will be hit up for $89.95 for Showtime and HBO’s May 2 broadcast of the much-anticipated bout between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao ($10 more for hi-def). Previous high for a pay-per-view match: $64.95.

Mayeather/Pacquiao match: Worth the price of admission? Let us know in the new Cynopsis poll.

The day after word got out that Saturday Night Live alums Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig had filmed a Lifetime movie, A Deadly Adoption, Ferrell said he and Wiig had decided to “forego the project entirely.” On Friday, Lifetime stepped in. “We are disappointed that our secret project with Will and Kristen was leaked and the network is determining the fate of the movie,” said A+E Networks EVP, corporate communications Michael Feeney.

History was named Brand of the Year in the Factual Entertainment category in the 2015 Harris Poll EquiTrend Study. Thank you, said Dirk Hoogstra, EVP and GM of History and H2 to those among the 38,670 respondents who chose the net: “We know that consumers have a multitude of choices and we sincerely appreciate their enthusiastic response to our brands.”

Look for Anthony Anderson (black-ish), NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon and tennis’s Caroline Wozniacki on LIVE with Kelly and Michael’s special broadcast this morning. For the first time, the full hour of the morning talker will originate live from the White House, during the annual Easter Egg Roll. The show also includes a sitdown with First Lady Michelle Obama.

Linsey (Jade) Berardi, a cast member in season 12 of Oxygen reality show Bad Girls Club last year, died at age 22, the network announced Friday. No cause of death was released. The New York native, who exited the show early voluntarily, alluded to “health problems” in a Facebook message early last month.

COMING UP

Esquire’s The Runner-Up, about American Idol second-placer Clay Aiken’s bid for Congress, premieres Tuesday, April 7 at 10p. But it wasn’t Aiken’s idea to document his political journey. “We found out Clay was running for Congress and thought there was potentially an interesting story to tell there,” exec producer Jonathan Chinn tells Cynopsis. “We didn’t know if it was a documentary series or not at that point, but we just followed our hunch and set out to meet Clay and convince him to let us film with him during his Primary race.”

DISTRIBUTION AND CARRIAGE

Entertainment Studios Networks added 25 new distribution partners, growing to over 100 markets nationwide. “The ever-expanding reach of our cable networks underscores the desire of our distribution partners to provide their subscribers with family-friendly viewing centered around viewer passions,” said Byron Allen, founder, chairman and CEO.
