TECH TALK
Dish Media, Blockgraph, MadHive, VideoAmp, Eyeota and TVSquared have formed the TV Data Initiative, aimed at accelerating the use of data in the television industry. “The next era of TV must be one defined by industry collaboration and connectivity,” said Jason Manningham, CEO of Blockgraph, a joint venture of Comcast, Charter Communications and ViacomCBS. “We need to work together to develop solutions that solve for the industry’s increasing complexity and fragmentation while at the same time addressing advertisers’ demand for data-driven capabilities in a way that always puts privacy first.”
As more households opt to cut the cord, connected TV is increasingly the platform of choice for brands looking to reach out to new audiences and reconnect with existing ones. However, as with any other platform, brands have to make sure they are reaching the right households, and that they are able to track that exposure and tie it to a conversion. Jeremy Fain, CEO and co-founder of Cognitiv makes the case for the value of deep learning, in Cynsiders.
STREAMING
AMC Networks subscription bundle AMC+ has launched on YouTube TV. “We are thrilled to make AMC+ available to YouTube TV subscribers,” said Courtney Thomasma, GM of AMC+. “Especially as we head into April, which is one of the biggest months of the year for Shudder as it marks ‘Halfway to Halloween’ with the return of ‘Creepshow’ and its huge celebration of horror, thriller and supernatural programming, we know new and existing subscribers will appreciate everything AMC+ has to offer.”
Discovery and Comcast announced the launch of discovery+ on Xfinity Flex. The streamer will also begin its rollout to X1 in the coming weeks, giving Xfinity TV customers access to more Discovery programming over the internet alongside the live and on-demand content they get as part of their TV subscription.
fuboTV has acquired the exclusive live streaming rights to the Qatar World Cup 2022 Qualifying matches of South American Football Confederation. Match windows are currently scheduled to begin in June, with several additional match windows through 2021 and into early 2022.
