The Fashion Police drama continues. E! announced that the series “is going on hiatus and will return in September. We look forward to taking this opportunity to refresh the show before the next awards season.” The decision comes after co-host Kathy Griffin tweeted her exit from the style series after just seven episodes, and Kelly Osbourne called it quits last month. Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, along with Executive Producer Melissa Rivers remain onboard.
A month after deciding a panel would determine whether hour-long series could be submitted as comedies in the Emmy race, the TV Academy has revealed the first three shows deemed eligible. Showtime‘s Shameless, CW‘s Jane the Virgin and FOX‘s Glee all met the nine-member panel’s two-thirds vote criteria and can compete as comedies.
FOX hit Empire can do no wrong. The show’s soundtrack, released on March 10,debuted in the top spot on the Billboard 200 – beating Madonna’s Rebel Heart. It marks the first TV soundtrack to debut as No. 1 since Glee.
ABC‘s Shark Tank has competition circling: The Startup Hour, calling for viewers to participate in the funding of startups featured on the show, debuts its 11-week season Wednesday, May 13 on Hearst Television stations in Boston, Pittsburgh, Orlando, Kansas City, and Sacramento. The show will also be broadcast on a Media General station in Austin and featured on Roku, YouTube and other digital and social streaming channels.
"The key to selling against digital competition is knowing when to compete and when to complement. When clients say they’re spending their budget on paid search, rather than fight them, tell them: Then we are a perfect fit…we can help you improve your paid search in three ways,” says Digital Media Training CEO Steve Bookbinder. Hear what else Steve and other media experts have to say at the Cynopsis webinar, How to Sell Digital Advertising in a Fragmented Media World,” on March 31st at 1:30PM est. Register here.

CNBC series The Profit returns for a third season Tuesday, May 12 at 10p with entrepreneur/ investor Marcus Lemonis helping save struggling businesses. The season also includes hour-long follow-up special, The Profit: After the Deal. Why the where-are-they-now? “Marcus is able to make enormous changes during production, but his job doesn’t end after our cameras shut down,” Jim Ackerman, SVP, Primetime Alternative, CNBC, tells Cynopsis. “He returns to those businesses, regularly, where he continues to make changes and hopefully, grow revenue. But as we learned, there are no magic bullets when it comes to saving a business and Marcus has faced challenges and setbacks with almost every business he invested in. Given that, we knew there was way more story to capture.”
Esai Morales (Criminal Minds, NYPD Blue) joins the sophomore season of El Rey Network‘s From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series in a recurring role.
Ed Quinn (Eureka) had been tapped for a recurring role in the third season of ABC’s Mistresses as a sensitive but offensive doctor.
