CYNOPSISKIDS!
03.18.14 Good morning. It’s Tuesday, March 18, 2014, and this is your first early morning briefing.
Disney Channel is amping up its British accent. Parent Walt Disney Co.’s EMEA division is in production on spooky four-parter Evermoor, the company’s biggest-ever production out of the U.K. and the first live-action movie produced in the U.K. to air on the network. Slated to bow this fall in more than 160 countries, Evermoor is about American teen Tara Bailey, who moves across the pond to "a beautiful but isolated village on the edge of some very creepy moors," according to a release. The movie is a co-production with Liverpool-based indie Lime Productions. Project creators are Tim Compton and Diane Whitely (House of Anubis), with a script from Bede Blake (House of Anubis, Strange Hill High). Exec producers are Rebecca Hodgson (Good Cop, Stolen) and Compton. Disney’s EMEA division is on a roll. The team is at work on the third season of Violetta, Disney EMEA’s first original live-action series, which has drawn 38 million-plus viewers and currently ranks as the No. 1 show in 10 markets. The EMEA unit is also behind successful Disney Junior shows including Jungle Junction and Henry Hugglemonster, and Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, on Disney XD.
Nina’s World is the official name for Sprout’s The Goodnight Show spinoff, planned to debut next fall, CynKids has learned. "We were thinking of calling it Little Nina, but the show is really about her world, and what it was like being 6 years old with her family and community, getting xx, going to the beach with friends," Sprout president Sandy Wax tells us. The show, slated for September 2015, is part of big 10th anniversary plans that will see the debut an original show each quarter. "Our 10th birthday really starts a new chapter for Sprout, with a lot of emphasis on original series and those advertising opportunities."
Nothing says happy anniversary like a spinoff. Hasbro Studios is prepping a new Transformers series to debut on Hub Network in early 2015, just after the brand celebrates 30 years in existence. The new Transformers series takes place years after the battle between Autobots and Decepticons in Transformers Prime, and will mix action and comedy. The show is exec-produced by Jeff Kline (Transformers Prime, G.I. Joe Renegades) and features voices of Will Friedle (Boy Meets World) returning as Bumblebee, along with Darren Criss (Glee), Constance Zimmer (House of Cards) and Ted McGinley (Married with Children).
Beginning this Saturday, Cartoon’s Ben 10 Omniverse embarks on a three-ep Monster Planet story arc. Ben and Rook must team up with some unlikely allies–and Ben will undergo some haunting new alien transformations. Beginning Saturday (March 22) at 9a and for three consecutive Saturdays, the episodes are: "Rad Monster Party," "Charmed, I’m Sure" and "The Vampire Strikes Back."
Get those glass slippers ready. Disney Junior will host a Cinderella Weekend on The Magical World of Disney Junior, April 11-13. Fans old and new can catch the films Cinderella, Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time.

Not for tutoring company Sylvan Learning, which is launching a network of educational games apps aimed at building grade-level skills for kids in first-fourth grade outside the classroom. SylvanPlay is launching for Android and iOS with a library of eight "edutainment" apps, all packaged together in one network and developed to help build skills in reading, math, science, geography, strategic thinking and more. "We developed SylvanPlay as a way to extend the learning that happens in our centers and provide parents and kids with Sylvan-approved games they know will be fun, educational, and grade-appropriate," said Julia Fitzgerald, CMO at Sylvan Learning.
