Calling her 18 years at Disney "the highlight of my executive career," Sweeney said, "There has always been a nagging voice in the back of my head pushing me to step out of the comfort zone of the executive ranks and more directly into the creative arena that enticed me to TV in the first place." Added Disney CEO Bob Iger, "I applaud Anne for knowing what she wants out of life and for having the courage to pursue her dream."

In a hilarious six-minute clip on Funny or Die the two get around to the purpose of the President’s visit – Healthcare.gov – but not before Obama notes that running for a third term would be as bad an idea as doing Hangover 3.

EXECUTIVE CHATTER

With the media landscape shifting seemingly by the day, VIPs had plenty to talk about at the Deutsche Bank Annual Media, Internet & Telecom Conference on Tuesday…

While acknowledging that Fox is a "work in progress," 21 Century Fox COO Chase Carey said event series like 24 and "a focus on quality over quantity" has him feeling pretty good about the net.

CBS CEO Les Moonves said he only expects four new shows to land on the lineup in the fall, "two comedies and two dramas." With NFL games airing Thursdays, the exec hinted he "wouldn’t be surprised to see The Big Bang Theory, the number one comedy by about a mile and a half, be on Monday night the first six weeks," possibly taking "some of our other Thursday shows and put them on Monday." About the ongoing Aereo battle, Moonves said, "If the government wants to give [Aereo] permission to steal our signal, then we will come up with some other way to offer our content and get paid for it." Meaning… CBS would go completely over-the-top and online.

Calling pay TV "a pretty imperfect market," DirecTV CEO Mike White said, "it certainly doesn’t work like anything that’s sold at Walmart." The prices consumers pay "are much more driven by the dynamic between the distributors and the content providers upstairs than they are horizontally," said White.

Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes scoffed at worries about cannibalization as programs air on broadcast, cable VOD and streaming services. "Your interest may go up, not down," noted Bewkes. "There’s a lot of repeat viewing."

ADVERTISING

Procter & Gamble has joined ConAgra Food for a marketing campaign aimed at helping to end child hunger. Consumers are prompted to enter codes from specially-marked packages online, with the companies donating 11.1 cents, the amount it costs Feeding America to provide one meal through a local food bank, for each code entered. Campaign includes ads, sponsorship of events and appearances by actor/host Mario Lopez

MIPTV MENTIONS

FremantleMedia International boasts it’s bringing a diverse slate to MIPTV. Among the offerings: scripted Jamaica Inn, an adaptation of the Daphne du Maurier novel; Lindsay Lohan docu-series Lindsay (currently airing on OWN Sundays at 9p), factual series The Sixties and lifestyle show Real Girl’s Kitchen, with host Haylie Duff (Napoleon Dynamite).

HG Distribution will feature scripted drama Project-M at MIPTV, a drama about four astronauts orbiting the Earth for 1000 days.

RATINGS

With a 3.8/10 rating among A18-49, the premiere of ABC‘s Resurrection Sunday tied with NBC‘s September premiere of hit drama The Blacklist. In total viewers (13.9 million), the show is ABC’s most-watched Sunday drama debut since Brothers & Sisters premiered in September 2006.

Leading into its series finale on March 31, Monday’s How I Met Your Mother took a surprise slide, down 15 percent in total viewers (7.7 million) and 18 percent among A18-49 (2.7). What Olympics? In February sweeps, Judge Judy skated off with an 8.0 sweep average, up 7 percent from February 2013 and its strongest rating since 2008. Live with Kelly & Michael also saw an uptick (11 percent versus last year).

Its first week as American Heroes Channel was the net’s best since its launch as Military Channel in 2005 in Prime delivery among P2+ (324,000) and HH (250,000), as well as in Total Day delivery among P2+ (181,000) and HH (153,000). Among P25-54, AHC posted delivery gains of 59 percent in Prime (110,000 vs. 69,000). On debut night, March 3, documentary Raw War: The Lost Films of Dak To was the net’s best original premiere in delivery among P2+ (528,000) and HH (398,000).

Spike TV‘s Bar Rescue drew 1.4 million total viewers on Sunday, up 21 percent from the season three premiere in October 2013. In its time period among basic cable nets, the series ranked number three with M18-49 and number four in P18-49.
