The NFL is handing the keys to MP & Silva, locking in the agency to represent the league in 42 territories across Europe. The deal will see the company distribute television and select digital rights for the 2015 – 2019 NFL seasons for pre-season and regular season games, all playoff games, Pro Bowl, as well as the Super Bowl. The deal also includes NFL Red Zone, NFL Network programming content, and key calendar events such as the NFL Draft. Territories include Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and the Vatican City.
FOX Sports and Pam Oliver are in for two more years. Sports Illustrated writes that the company asked her to return to the company’s fold following her shift last season that moved her away from top broadcast team Joe Buck and Troy Aikman and begin work with Kevin Burkhardt and John Lynch. Erin Andrews took over Oliver’s former spot.
With more numbers in the books, NBC is touting Saturday’s debut of PBC on NBC as the most watched boxing broadcast since 1998. Nielsen fast nationals show that the telecast averaged 3.4 million viewers, marking a high for the sport in 17 years and peaking at 4.2 million from 10:30-11p, and garnered a 2.11/4 overall. Overall, more than 575,000 minutes of PBC on NBC coverage was live streamed via NBC Sports Live Extra. “The return of primetime boxing to NBC for the first time in three decades got off to a strong start last weekend with Saturday’s PBC on NBC debut,” said Jon Miller, President of Programming for NBC Sports and NBCSN. “With our next primetime telecast on Saturday, April 11, we look forward to building on the momentum that this first event clearly established. We are excited that high-quality boxing is back on NBC.”
Golf Channel is turning to Arnie once again and invited fans of Arnold Palmer known as “Arnie’s Army” to submit videos for a fourth installment of the franchise, dubbed Arnie & Me. The special will run on March 17 at 10p with producers sifting through more than a thousand videos that were submitted for the project before deciding on around 40 stories that will be featured. Beforehand, the channel will carry the first three parts of the series beginning at 7p.

SportsCenter carries the Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao press conference tomorrow at 4:30p. Lindsay Czarniak anchors coverage from ESPN’s LA studio, with boxing analyst Teddy Atlas offering insight and analysis. Neil Everett and Stan Verrett will co-anchor coverage from the Red Carpet outside the Nokia Theatre.
Tennis Channel is programming Match Madness this month, offering a three-and-a-half week slate that includes the BNP Paribas Open and Miami Open events starting tomorrow and over 185 hours of live coverage overall. This year, Tennis Channel is adding the first day of play at the BNP Paribas Open to the schedule, expanding to eight consecutive days of 12-hour, live-match blocks – and 10 days of live matches overall at the 12-day event. Also new for the network in 2015 is the addition of a second broadcast booth in the tournament’s new state-of-the art Stadium 2, unveiled last year.
BTN lined up its most extensive baseball and softball coverage ever, carrying over 280 games airing on BTN/BTN2Go and BTN Plus for the 2015 season. Coverage begins with Nebraska and Texas on Saturday, March 28 at 3p, while softball coverage launches march 24 at 5p with Nebraska/Iowa.
The NASCAR Mexico Series takes the green flag on Friday at Phoenix International Raceway and will be carried on NBC UNIVERSO at 10p. Following the season-opener at Phoenix, the first race in Mexico will be the Potisina 200 at Super Óvalo Potosino in San Luis Potosí on April 12.
FOX Deportes’ reports that its coverage of the Copa Libertadores matches pitting River Plate/Tigres and Atletico Nacional/Estudiantes took the top two Spanish-language spots for the day on March 5th with 215,000 total viewers and 175,000 total viewers respectively.

The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship continues to be a money machine, according to an analysis of trend data by Kantar Media. The company estimates that the tournament has generated $7.5 billion of national TV ad expenditures from 279 different marketers during the past decade (2005-2014), with spending up 1.5% in 2014 to $1.13 billion, including Pre-Game, Game & Post-Game Programming, to rank second in post-season sports national TV ad spending. Top five sponsors a year ago for the tournament were led by General Motors with $83.2 million, followed by AT&T, Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch and Capital One.
Speaking of the tournament, jerky brand Oberto is reeling in ESPN’s Dick Vitale for a new ad, marketing and promotional campaign that will see a series of on-and-off air marketing activations. In addition, the brand is expanding its partnership with Tough Mudder, and will launch heavy support with national TV advertising featuring the men’s and women’s winners of the 2014 World’s Toughest Mudder event. The brand is also offer a “Win A VIP Trip with Dick Vitale” promotion.
Learfield Sports launched a multi-year, integrated national sponsorship platform for Koch Industries, Inc. as the company looks to go deeper in collegiate sports marketing. Marketing will be centered around men’s and women’s basketball and football via in-venue signage; digital inclusions and social media campaigns; game sponsorships; and radio broadcast features. Additionally, Koch will have opportunities to honor its employees or alumni through in-game, on-the-field or on-the-court recognition.
Yahoo Sports signed former NBA Player Jason Collins to serve as a NCAA and NBA analyst for the company. Collins will provide original video programming for the Yahoo Sports studio including basketball analysis for both the upcoming men’s NCAA basketball tournament and the NBA and will debut on Yahoo Sports Tourney Bracket Live on March 15 at 7:30p.
FiveThirtyEight named former New York Times pillar David Firestone as the new managing editor of the ESPN site. Most recently, he was a member of the newspaper’s editorial board, and served as the board’s projects editor.
