RATINGS
Retitled Olympic versions of Entertainment Tonight (2.8, Live+SD national Nielsen rating, up 4% from the week before) and Inside Edition (2.8, up 4%) both picked up speed and were deadlocked. Meanwhile, next day coverage of the 90th Academy Awards on March 5 ignited several of the entertainment magazines. Entertainment Tonight (3.6/6 primary run weighted metered market average, up 12% from its year-ago time period average) took Oscar ratings honors among magazines. Extra (1.8/4 up 13%) also saw growth over last year’s averages. Also, Kelly and Ryan’s Live After Oscar Show (3.0/10, up 25%) earned its highest rating of the season on March 5.
The renamed Dr. Phil Olympic episodes (3.1, up 7%) opened up a wider lead in talk shows. Live with Kelly and Ryan- Olympics (2.3, steady) maintained its hold on second place. Other big movers among the top ten in the category were Dr. Oz-Olympics (1.1, up 22%) and first run true crime leader Crime Watch Daily (1.0, up 11%).
The Judge Judy-Olympic week (7.3, up 14%) overcame stiff competition from the Winter Games and was the top strip in syndication by a substantial margin. In addition, Hot Bench-Olympics (2.5, up 14%) finished as the third highest strip in daytime.
Through its first 10 telecasts Disney Channel’s ZOMBIES reached 12.8 million Total Viewers, including 4.0 million Kids 6-11. In other metrics, ZOMBIES is the net’s #1 video-on-demand property and has been #1 on the DisneyNOW app since its February 16 premiere.
FOX Business Network continued its winning streak over CNBC, sweeping the network in Business Day and Market Hour viewers during the week of February 26, according to Nielsen Media Research. Surrounding the announcement of President Trump’s plan for aluminum and steel tariffs, FBN Business Day coverage saw a 9 percent advantage over CNBC with 214,000 total viewers compared to 196,000 for the week, and a 7 percent advantage in the A24-54 demo with 32,000 viewers compared to CNBC’s 30,000 for the week.
Monday’s premiere of Por Amar Sin Ley on Univision reached 2.9 million Total Viewers 2+, who tuned in to all or part of it. The series averaged 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 619,000 A18-49 and 294,000 A18-34.
