CBS Television Distribution is staying in business with Judge Judy Sheindlin, extending her agreement through 2020. The new pact includes a first-look production deal with the Judge Judy host, whose Queen Bee Productions produces Hot Bench. In its 19th season, Judy is averaging 10.3 million viewers; top of the freshman class Bench is averaging 2.3 million.
The 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards have found a broadcast home. Orphaned last year, the show aired online, but a multi-year deal between NATAS and Pop has the trophyfest airing live Sunday, April 26 at 8p, from stage 16 at the Warner Bros. Studios lot. “Adding premium live events to our schedule is just another exciting way we are building Pop,” said net president Brad Schwartz. “We’re going to have a lot of fun with this.” Michael Levitt is exec producing.

Tribune Media and Nielsen struck a long-term renewal agreement for ratings for Tribune’s stations that will include Nielsen’s Out of Home and Return Path Data when introduced, and Mobile TV Ratings. “We use Nielsen data regularly, and we are glad to have them as partners as video habits continue to rapidly evolve,” said Tribune Broadcast Media president Larry Wert. Early last month, Tribune announced an agreement with Rentrak for data at its 42 stations.
Lester Holt, filling in for a suspended Brian Williams on NBC Nightly News, was replaced last night by Today co-host Savannah Guthrie, reportedly to deal with a family emergency. Guthrie has subbed for Williams in the past.
Say tisn’t so: Maggie Smith hinted that season six of Downton Abbey, in production now, will be its last. “I can’t see how it could go on,” Smith told The Sunday Times. “I certainly can’t keep going. To my knowledge, I must be 110 by now.” A show spokesperson told People the show has always been commissioned on a season-by-season basis, “so we just don’t know yet.” Season five wrapped Stateside on PBS Sunday.

The premiere of Fox comedy Last Man On Earth delivered a strong 2.3 rating among A18-49 for each of its back-to-back eps Sunday, according to early Nielsens, and was the top program in the demo among the Big Four for the night.
Up against AMC’s The Walking Dead and the season finale of Downton Abbey, the launch of drama Secrets & Lies on Sunday gave ABC a 1.5 rating among A18-49 from 9-11p, while the premiere of CBS’s Vince Gilligan/David Shore light drama Battle Creek posted 1.0 in the demo.
The premiere of CNN’s Finding Jesus averaged 1.14 million viewers at 9p on Sunday, versus 634,000 for Fox News and 275,000 for MSNBC, according to fast nationals, and handily won the news demo with 371,000. At 10p, CNN’s debut of The Wonder List with Bill Weir scored 706,000 viewers and 294,000 among A25-54, also first among cable news nets.
Sunday’s premiere of All-Star Academy on Food Network delivered nearly 1.7 million viewers P2+ and posted a.81 rating (800,000 imp) among A25-54, an 85 percent increase over year-ago. The net’s Sunday night was up 56 percent over year-ago among A25-54, helped by Guy’s Grocery Games (.82) at 8pand Cutthroat Kitchen (.80) at 10p.
