Kevin Reilly’s making changes at the top. The new president of TBS and TNT and chief creative officer of Turner Entertainment is splitting the networks’ original programming team into two units: Sarah Aubrey has been tapped to serve as EVP of original programming for TNT, while Brett Weitz was promoted to EVP of original programming for TBS. Sandra Dewey is being elevated to president, TNT and TBS Productions and business affairs, running the expanded in-house production arm supplying the two networks. “Over the next couple of years, we will continue to sharpen and evolve our brands by doubling down on original programming and being tenacious about our networks’ value proposition,” said Reilly. “These leadership appointments are the important first step in that direction.”

IN THE NEWS

Why is Discovery Communications is skipping the party? Last year’s Upfront event for the company’s networks featured boldfaced names (Oprah! Honey Boo Boo!) – even a marching band – but this year’s message is “Up Close and Personal.” Forgoing glitz, Discovery’s getting right to business, with one-on-one meetings at media agencies. “Our business is evolving and therefore we are evolving with it by creating a concept that brings the presentation directly to the agencies,” Joe Abruzzese, president of advertising sales at Discovery Communications, tells Cynopsis. “With the breadth of our portfolio, we have something for everyone and we are extremely excited about our new approach to the Upfront this year. Our goal is to get closer to the client’s needs by presenting a one-on-one experience with a truly up close and personal dialogue.”

Diane Sawyer is in the final stages of negotiating an interview with Bruce Jenner to discuss the former Olympian’s coming out as transgender, reports Buzzfeed. Jenner has been photographed recently wearing earrings, painted nails and cosmetics; the Sawyer talk will reportedly run ahead of an E! reality series about Jenner’s transition journey.

Music industry great Clive Davis will be presented with the Vanguard Award at The 46th NAACP Image Awards, airing on TV One Friday, Feb. 6 at 9p. The honor recognizes an individual whose work increases understanding and awareness of racial and social issues.

Jonny Slow is turning in his CEO title at Zodiak Americas. Said Zodiak Media CEO Marc-Antoine d’Haulluin, who will take on the role on an interim basis, “We are sorry to see him go and wish him luck with his future endeavors which, having worked closely with him over the last 18 months, I know are certain to be as exciting as the ride he has had here.” Slow, who will consult during the transition period, said while he’s “had a lot of fun building Zodiak Americas over the last three years, the time is right for me to move on to my next endeavor.”
