Data Architecture: Data architecture is any set of rules, standards, policies and models that defines and governs the type of data that’s collected, and how it’s used, managed, stored, and integrated it into an organization and its database systems.
Snap Inc., welcome to Wall Street. The Snapchat parent reportedly plans to file its initial public offering this week. According to several media outlets, Snap is expected to choose the New York Stock Exchange for the IPO. CNBC was the first to report the news; Reuters and others later confirmed it. It usually takes about nine weeks to process an IPO filing, which means that the company could officially go public as early as March.
New research from the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) finds that, when it comes to programmatic buying, agency trading desks (ATDs) are still dominant. The research, based on a survey of 58 WFA member companies, found that 40% of the world’s biggest brands use the trade desk model for programmatic ad buying. Some other findings:
– Programmatic is most widely used in North America, where it accounted for 23% of respondents’ digital ad spending. The number was 17% in Europe, and 12% in China.
– Use of ATD alternatives is increasing. Notably, the use of ITDs (independent trading desks) has increased by 12% compared to WFA’s previous research on the subject. Hybrid or in-house models are used by over one fifth of respondents, also a marked increase.

Sizmek, an open ad management company for multiscreen campaigns, announced the launch of its new Data Hub. Sizmek is calling the new unit a “data-centralizing ecosystem that enables advertisers to pull in audience segments from integrated data management platforms (DMPs) and enrich them with data collected from served ads.” The goal is to then let advertisers use those segments to inform their targeting decisions.

Dish’s Sling TV just got Franco-friendly. The OTT-based live TV service has added a what’s calling the French Bouquet package, a $15-per-month add-on that includes 34 French and English-language channels. The new channels include TV5MONDE neworks, beIN Sports, Eurochannel, and Euronews. Another new package, dubbed the Francais Extra, is geared toward viewers looking for some French programming alongside their English Best of Live TV packages. That package costs $5 monthly; it includes channels such as TV5Monde Cinema on Demand and France 24.
BitTorrent Live, BitTorrent’s OTT TV service, recently launched for Android Devices. The servicer relies n BitTorrent’s P2B platform; it was initially unveiled at the INTX show last May. BitTorrent Live was already available for iOS devices, Amazon Fire TV boxes and sticks, Apple TV, and a desktop version for Mac browsers.

The ListenFirst Television Interest (TVI) Rating (TM) is a standardized measurement of the most buzzed-about TV programs on linear TV and streaming services. A complement to ListenFirst’s other syndicated data products (such as the ListenFirst Digital Audience Rating – TV), the metrics included in the rating capture organic actions that are largely unaffected by paid media. Programs that surface on the TVI leaderboards are the most hashtagged on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Tumblr, as well as most searched for onWikipedia (used as a proxy for organic search volume).

Source: ListenFirst. The TVI Rating aggregates metrics that measure organically generated activity by fans of the TV show. The metric includes total volume of official hashtag mentions on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Tumblr, along with Wikipediapage views (as a proxy for organic search volume) for a show as a percentage of the total volume of the same activities for all shows.
Mindbodygreen, an online lifestyle brand focused on health and wellness, just landed a BuzzFeed exec. Tessa Gould will serve as the publisher’s COO, tasked with growing Mindbodygreen’s revenue streams – namely, advertising, events, and paid instructional videos. Gould joined BuzzFeed in 2014, serving first as VP of Ad Innovation, Strategy, and Operations, and then as Head of Commerce. She previously worked as Head of Native Advertising at AOL’s The Huffington Post, where she also founded HuffPo’s branded content studio (now simply called the AOL Partner Studio).
The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has elected a new Chairman to its Board of Directors. The position will go to Jim Norton, Conde Nast’s Chief Business Officer and President of Revenue. He previously served as the Board’s Vice Chairman. Taking over as Vice Chairman will be Scott Schiller, NBCUniversal’s EVP and General Manager of Marketing, Advertising Sales & Client Partnerships. Other newly elected members of the board are Snap Inc.’s Jeff Lucas, Neustar’s Steven Wolfe Pereira, and SheKnows’ Samantha Skey.
ShareThis, a company specializing in social data analytics, has named Dana Hayes as its new President. Hayes joins the company from Axicom, where he served as Group VP of Global Partner Development. At ShareThis, he’ll be tasked with driving the growth of the company’s media and data teams. He’ll report to CEO Kurt Abrahamson.
Dynamic ad specialist BrightLine has named George Blue as Chief Revenue Officer, a newly created position. Blue spent fifteen years at Fox, ten of them as SVP of Digital Media Sales. He most recently worked at TV4 Entertainment as President of Client Partnerships and Advertising Sales. At BrightLine, he’ll be tasked with growing strategic partnerships with media companies, agency holding groups, and their client partners.

Netflix’s Stranger Things’ took home a surprise win at the SAG Awards on Sunday. Before launching into an impassioned acceptance speech, cast-member David Harbour quickly thanked a number of people, among them Carmen Cuba. Cuba has worked on Hollywood movies like The Martian, but Stranger Things isn’t her first streaming series; she’s also worked on Netflix’s Sense8 and Narcos, as well as Amazon’s Red Oaks. What’s her job?
