The Big Bang Theory set a record for the largest ever Live+7 viewer lift, adding 7.18 million viewers for the show’s December 17 episode. Sheldon and Amy taking their relationship to the next level prompted an increase of 42% over the Live+SD average (24.43 million from 17.25 million), making it the season’s most-watched episode of a scripted program.
That ’70s Show alums Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson are reuniting to play brothers in The Ranch. The Netflix comedy focuses on Colt (Kutcher), a confident-but-failed semipro football player who returns to Colorado to help run his family’s ranching business. Masterson plays his second-fiddle brother, Rooster. Debut is this spring.
Barbra Streisand is heading to Modern Family. Well, sort of. The actress lends her voice to tonight’s episode of the ABC sitcom. Streisand shared the news on Twitter, posting, “Watch #ModernFamily Wednesday Jan. 6th at 9pm on ABC! You might hear a familiar voice… Dunphys, can you hear me?” Streisand’s husband, James Brolin, stars on CBS family comedy Life in Pieces.
The FCC has delayed its six-month review of Charter Communication‘s proposed purchases of
Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks by two weeks. The commission noted that the
time is necessary to evaluate documents filed in December by the three companies, mainly
relating to TWC’s regional sports network business and Charter’s residential pricing and
Packaging. The review process will resume on January 20.
Former Fox Business Network EVP Kevin Magee is heading to MSNBC as the new Executive in Charge of Morning Joe, replacing Michael Weisman, who has served in the position for the past year. Magee begins his new role immediately, working alongside Executive Producer Alex Korson.
Donald Trump is headed back to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The Republican presidential candidate guests on the talker Monday, January 11 at 11:30p. He was previously on the September 11 episode.
The 16th Annual Outdoor Sportsman Awards Powered by RAM, recognizing Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel‘s outstanding programming, will be streamed live at www.OutdoorChannel.com/OutdoorSportsmanAwards on Thursday, January 21 at 11p. In addition to 15 awards, including best new series, best comedy and best commercial, a Fan Favorite Host(s) award for both nets will be handed out, voted on by the viewers.
Kocktails with Khloe added chef Sharone Hakman (MasterChef) to appear in all eight episodes. The new talker features celebrity guests, including host Khloe Kardashian’s friends and family, in the kitchen and around the table for a lively dinner party prepared by Hakman. The first round of presenters have been announced for the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards. They include: Amy Adams, Jaimie Alexander, Patricia Arquette, Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, Mel Gibson, Amber Heard, Bryce Dallas Howard, Kate Hudson, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne, Kurt Russell, J.K. HBO Documentary Films has acquired U.S. TV rights to Jim: The James Foley Story. The project details the life, death and legacy of journalist James Foley, who was murdered by ISIS in 2014. The film will debut Saturday, February 6 on HBO.
FXX has decided not to move forward with animated series Cassius and Clay. The project, which was ordered to series in August, was to star Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Lake Bell (Childrens Hospital).

Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions has secured a script deal with Fox for drama Boost Unit (wt). The action drama follows the newest recruit of LAPD’s Auto Theft Task Force, a notorious getaway driver with a hidden past.
Primary Wave Entertainment is teaming with DJ Steve Angello on a scripted series about the fast-paced world of electronic dance music, according to Variety. The show plans to prominently feature Angello’s music.
Netflix is set to launch new series from DreamWorks Animation, including a remake of animated adventure Voltron. Also in the works is Trollhunters from Guillermo del Toro.
The Royals will continue to reign. E! has picked up a 10-episode, third season of the scripted drama centering on a fictional, modern day, royal family. Sudser airs Sundays at 10p.
The View‘s ratings dip has prompted a move behind the scenes. Veteran booker Todd Polkes has been added to the team, reports Variety. Polkes is leaving The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore for his daytime gig at ABC. Polkes joins longtime show bookers Donald Berman and Natalie Bubnis.
Fusion has picked up The Chris Gethard Show for a 10-episode second season. “Last year me and my gang of oddballs had a real good time stirring up trouble on Fusion and I am excited we get another run at it,” said Gethard. “This season I plan on making television so bold that every episode will either make you feel emotions you haven’t felt in years and/or feel like you’re hallucinating.” The series returns in March.
UP premieres Love Finds You In Valentine, a romantic drama set in Nebraska, on Sunday, February 14 at 7 p. Based on the popular book by Irene Brand, the movie stars Diogo Morgado (Son Of God), Michaela McManus (Aquarius), Lindsay Wagner and Ed Asner.
Animal Planet airs Panda Republic on Tuesday, January 26 at 8p. The two-hour special chronicles the challenges and triumphs at two Chinese panda centers dedicated to saving the species.

Animal Planet brings back Treehouse Masters on Friday, January 15 at 10p and plants the sophomore season of Yankee Jungle in the 9p time slot on Saturday, January 23.
BBC America’s Almost Royal airs back-to-back premiere episodes on Monday, January 18 at 10p. The half-hour comedy stars British aristocrats/siblings Georgie and Poppy Carlton traveling the country as investigative journalists and turning to celebrity experts to learn about American culture.
Saturday Night Live returns January 16 with first-time host Adam Driver and Chris Stapleton debuting as musical guest. The following week, on January 23, UFC fighter and actress Ronda Rousey premieres as host with Selena Gomez providing the musical entertainment. The show airs Saturdays at 11:30p.

NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution has sold Harry Connick, Jr.‘s new daytime show, Harry, in more than 80 percent of the U.S. to date for its debut in national broadcast syndication this fall. The one-hour entertainment format has already been sold to FOX Television Stations in 17 markets. New station groups include Sinclair, Scripps, Media General, Hubbard, Cox, Nexstar, Gray, Bonten, Hearst, Raycom, Dispatch, Quincy and more.
Thinkfactory Media has finalized a U.S. licensing deal for international game show Hide the Smile. Hosted by Larry the Cable Guy, the show challenges contestants to keep a straight face as they are put in the middle of scripted sketches performed by a professional comedy troupe.
Virginia Madsen guest stars on a spring episode of CBS‘ Elementary as a potential love interest for Gregson.
Rachel Keller (Fargo) has nabbed the female lead in FX pilot Legion.
Josh Groban and Kat Von D have landed guest spots an CBS sitcom Life in Pieces. Groban will play a guitar salesman; Von D will, fittingly, portray a tattoo artist.
Marisol Nichols is reprising her role as FBI Agent Natalie Colfax on CBS series Criminal Minds. She’ll appear on Season 11’s 15th episode. Nichols first played the character in October.
For the second consecutive year, Nippon TV has won the annual household viewer ratings Triple Crown title, landing first place programming in the All Day, Prime Time, and Golden Time periods. Topping the charts this year for regular programs aired by commercial broadcasters was The Quest, with an average annual viewer rating of 19.2 percent.

Discovery Channel was cable’s #1 non-sports network for Men in 2015 and ended the year with double-digit gains in Total Viewers P2+ and ratings increases across key demos vs. last year in L+3. The net finished 2015 with its highest rated year ever across both Persons 25-54 and Men 25-54 and its most watched year ever in Total Viewers P2+.
