Good morning. It’s Friday, March 30, 2012, and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

High profile programs Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State and Kansas hit New Orleans tomorrow, as CBS Sports and Turner Sports announced coverage plans for the Final Four. On Saturday, CBS Sports will broadcasts the national semi-final games for the 31st consecutive year beginning at 6p with the National Championship game running Monday at 9p. CBS Sports’ Jim Nantz and Clark Kellogg, and Turner Sports’ Steve Kerr call the games, with Tracy Wolfson serving as reporter. Starting at 4p on Saturday, CBS airs The Final Four Show with Greg Gumbel, Greg Anthony, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Seth Davis.  Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo, Butler Head Coach Brad Stevens and Marquette Head Coach Buzz Williams also will be on set to provide analysis.

Out of the country, ESPN will carry the Men’s Final Four and Championship Game in more than 200 countries via exclusive coverage on ESPN International. Mark Brown and Fran Fraschilla will call the National Semifinal doubleheader as well as the Final from New Orleans.

On the Air

On to the Masters, ESPN announced that it will air 4.5 hours of live Tournament play daily from the first two rounds, the traditional Par 3 Contest the day preceding the Tournament as well as 14 total hours of action on the ESPN 3D Network. Action begins on Thursday, April 5 starting at 3p with an edited encore presentation in prime time each night from 8-11p. ESPN Deportes also will televise the first and second rounds live from 3-7:30p and the ESPN 3D Network will air three hours of live play from the first two rounds each day starting at 4:30p. Mike Tirico hosts the Thursday and Friday telecasts and will conduct player interviews from Augusta National’s Butler Cabin with analyst Curtis Strange. CBS will again produce the telecasts with CBS’ golf announce crew also contributing to the coverage. Paco Aleman and analyst Silvia Bertolaccini will present on ESPN Deportes with John Sutcliffe serving as the on-course reporter.

UEFA went public with its decision to centralize media rights for national-team matches at a forum in Manchester according to the AP. The General Secretary of European football’s governing body, Gianni Infantino, explained that “This will have a seismic effect on the football landscape. It is all about the promotion of national-team football, and about giving more stability to national associations.” All 53 member national associations previously agreed to centralize media rights for World Cup qualifying and European Championship qualifying matches – starting in 2014

Jim Rome is finally set to hit CBS Sports Network on Tuesday, following his departure from ESPN. The new series Rome will serve as a half-hour weekday show the airs at 6p. Contributors are set to include Gregg Doyel of CBSSports.com, Will Carroll of SI.com and Jason Whitlock and Peter Schrager of FoxSports.com.

NHL team the Carolina Hurricanes reached a new, multiyear agreement with FOX Sports Carolinas that will launch with the 2013-14 season to televise all Hurricanes regular-season and playoff games not carried by NHL national rights holders. Under the deal, FOX Sports Carolinas will continue to produce pre- and post-game shows surrounding the team’s contests.

Well, this answered a question of mine. Following the Dodgers record-breaking deal for $2.15 billion, Bloomberg reports that the New York Yankees are now estimated to be worth about $2.85 billion according to analyst estimates. The analyst, Tony Wible of Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, said his valuation was based on the number of television households in the team’s DMA with the Dodgers transaction equating to $386 per television household. 

CONCOCAF named Jeffrey Webb of the Cayman Islands to replace the departed Jack Warner as the president of soccer’s governing body in North and Central America and the Caribbean. CONCACAF said he was the only candidate nominated and will run unopposed in the election which is slated for May 23.

Fox International Channels Latin America announced new distribution agreements for FOX Sports+ in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Uruguay, Peru and the Caribbean; and FOX Sports in Brazil to propel FOX Sports over 35 million subscribers.

In final Nielsen ratings, NBC posted season-high PGA Golf ratings for the Arnold Palmer Invitational that featured Tiger Woods winning his first PGA event since 2009. Saturday’s Third Round coverage of the event averaged a 2.7/7 with 4 million viewers, up 50% over last year. Sunday’s Final Round action posted a 4.3/9 with 6.5 million viewers, up 126% over last year’s 1.9/4 to rank as the highest rating for the event since 2009.

Digital sponsorship for the NCAA Tournament brought in around $60 million for Turner and CBSSports.com, according to a report by Ad Age. That revenue is almost double the take from streaming ads for the 2009 tournament, nor does it include the fees charged for some viewers to get mobile access to March Madness Live.

Atlanta-based marketing agency CSE is partnering with NCAA Tournament partners AT&T and Coca-Cola, designing and creating new mobile web apps for both the fan voting on the Naismith Award on behalf of AT&T as well as the “Mobile Concierge” for Coca-Cola for their activation in New Orleans.

It’s hands off for Reebok, according to a judge in the Nike/Reebok dispute over sales of Tim Tebow Jets jerseys. Judge Kevin Castel issued an order late Wednesday that blocked sales by Reebok International after Nike Inc. sued the company earlier in the day. The judge ordered Reebok to stop selling the apparel with the name “Tebow” on it unless it was made by March 1 and was part of the Broncos.

CBSSports.com, along with Masters.com, CBS Sports and the Masters Tournament, announced that Masters Live-live video coverage from the Augusta National Golf Club-will return for this year’s tournament. The platform will now have four live channels of golf action, and begin April 2 with more than 90 hours of live video from Augusta National. Features are set to include the live show Masters on the Range, as well as live streaming of select holes and groups.

Electronic Arts Inc. unveiled the new way to determine the face of EA Sports NHL, with the first ever Cover Vote Campaign for the game. The campaign will be sponsored by BlackBerry and hosted on NHL.com. The voting process will consist of two preliminary rounds, followed by a 16-player bracket as a field of 60 NHL players is narrowed down to one winner, who will be revealed at the 2012 NHL Awards on June 20 at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Bleacher Report is looking to make the site more personal for users, unveiling a new homepage that incorporates its popular Team Stream experience with content that gives readers an easy way to follow their teams in real time. With the addition, the homepage now offers sports fans round-the clock coverage of both the national sports beat as well as their favorite teams.
