In one of the swiftest fall broadcast season cancellations in history, FOX announced it is dropping the drama Lone Star after airing two episodes. This past Monday at 9p, Lone Star posted a 1.0/3 among A18-49, a -23% decline from its premiere episode. Mondays demo ratings were a virtual tie with The CW’s Gossip Girl for fifth place overall. FOX let it be known it will replace Lone Star in the time period with the third season debut of Lie To Me starting next Monday at 9p. Five total episodes of Lone Star have been produced and it’s unknown at this point when the remaining three eps will air. 20th Century Fox Television produced Lone Star. Lie To Me is produced by Imagine Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television.

Broadcast network premiere week (September 20-26, 2010) ratings results have been tallied giving CBS the top spot overall with an average of nearly 11.8 million total viewers and an average rating of 3.3 among A18-49, a +6% and a +3% bump respectively over the 2009 premiere week results. In the A18-49 category, ABC and NBC tied for #2 with an average rating of 2.8 rating each; FOX posted a 2.6 and The CW delivered a 1.1. Among total viewers, ABC was second at 11.1 million despite this figure dropping -13% over last year; NBC was third at almost 7.6 million; FOX in fourth at close to 7.4 million; and The CW in fifth place at nearly 2.5 million.

USA Network renewed three of its summer original series giving third seasons to Royal Pains and White Collar and a sixth new season to Psych. USA gave an 18-episode order to Royal Pains and 16 total episodes each to White Collar and Psych. These three renewals signify USA has picked up all seven of its current original dramas. Other original drama renewals previously announced include those for Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, Covert Affairs and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Universal Cable Productions is behind Royal Pains and Psych and Fox Television Studios produces White Collar.

ABC is giving Brad Womack a second chance to find love when the network’s romance reality series The Bachelor debuts a fifteenth installment next January. Womack appeared on The Bachelor in 2007 and during the finale that aired in November opted to not offer the final rose and a marriage proposal to one of two remaining bachelorettes thus shocking fans of the show. After being dubbed “the most hated Bachelor” in the show’s history, Womack has undergone intensive therapy the last three years saying he is now ready to make the marriage commitment. The Bachelor is hosted by Chris Harrison and is produced by Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television.

Lifetime Television is ready to help the unemployed with a new unscripted series, The Fairy Jobmother featuring internationally-recognized career guru, Hayley Taylor. The series, based on a hit UK format, will debut on Lifetime October 28 at 11p when the network airs the first of eight one-hour episodes following the season eight finale of Project Runway. The series will then air in its regular time period of Thursdays at 9p beginning November 4. In each episode of The Fairy Jobmother, Taylor will assist job-challenged families with her no-holds-barred tough love approach to motivate them back to being employed. Studio Lambert is producing the series.

Cast members from TLC’s newest reality television series Sister Wives are currently involved in a bigamy investigation led by police Lt. Darren Paul in Lehi, Utah. Lt. Paul says the investigation was prompted by the reality TV show that depicts the lifestyle of advertising salesman Kody Brown and his four wives, 13 children and three stepchildren. Brown is legally married only to one of his wives, though refers to the other three women as his spouses. TLC premiered the series this past Sunday attracting 2.3 million total viewers. Bigamy is a third-degree felony in Utah and punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years. The Utah law states a person can be found guilty of bigamy through cohabitation and not only through legal marriage contracts. Stay tuned …

To go along with its original series debut of The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret this Friday at 10p, IFC is launching its first-ever iPhone app to help spur interest in the comedy. The free, downloadable app called “The Todd Margaret Poor Decisions Generator” will allow viewers to make their own bad decisions on a variety of topics such as guys, girls, work, food, fashion and many more. The app is available via the App Store and at ifc.com ( www.ifc.com/todd-margaret/iphone ).

On Sunday, HBO premiered season two of Eastbound & Down which averaged 1.7 million total viewers at 1030p, a huge increase over the first season premiere by +150%. Also this night, Boardwalk Empire pulled in an average of 3.3 million total viewers for its second episode at 9p and another 1.1 million at 11p.
