The Monday Night Football controversy involving what looked like a blown call wins the game for Seattle actually made ESPN the true victor from all the media storm. The channel’s post-game SportsCenter became the most-watched episode ever with 6,462,000 viewers tuning in. The show also ranked as the second highest-rated SportsCenter in the books with a 4.5 household rating, according to Nielsen. The game itself was a 10.3 score with 16.167 million viewers to mark the third largest audience among viewers for any program on cable television in 2012.

CBS Sports Network hits the rink for the channel’s 10th season of college hockey programming, with a slate of 18 games on deck featuring Hockey East action, as well as CCHA and Atlantic Hockey contests. Coverage will start on Nov. 15 at 7:30p with a Notre Dame/Michigan game. Game crew will include analysts Dave Starman and Jim Paradise with play-by-play announcers Eric Frede and Ben Holden.

The NHL and the league’s players’ association will once again look for a resolution to the lockout on Friday, when they meet for the first time since the lockout began. However, the talks will only focus on secondary economic issues, according to the AP, including pension and medical plans, schedule rules, drug testing and the grievance procedure.

With final ratings in, NBC reports that the Patriots/Ravens Sunday Night Football game was seen by an average of 21.3 million people and registered a national rating of 12.9 and a 21 share, according to official national ratings from Nielsen. This number marks the first time in NBC’s seven-year Sunday Night Football history that each of its first four games have drawn more than 21 million viewers. The viewership and household rating was up 4% and 6% respectively, from last year’s Week 3 contest.

The 2013 Cowboys Classic has its teams locked in for next season, with LSU and TCU signing on for the Labor Day weekend game. The contest will be played on Saturday, August 31, 2013 and televised on either ESPN, ABC or ESPN2.

The most decorated Olympian in history, Michael Phelps will finally get a chance to meet his hero on Feherty Live tonight on Golf Channel at 9p, when Michael Jordan joins the program. The pair were guests of funnyman David Feherty for the special Ryder Cup-themed show, which was taped in front of a packed house at the Tivoli Theater in Downers Grove, Ill., near Medinah Country Club, site of this week’s Ryder Cup. The episode will also feature appearances by former Ryder Cup captains Paul Azinger, Sam Torrance and Lanny Wadkins.

Feld Motor Sports announced that SPEED will broadcast the second annual Monster Energy Cup live from Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on October 20 at 7p with 3.5 hours of live television coverage Ralph Sheheen hosts while analyst Jeff Emig handled the booth with special guest Ricky Carmichael.
