~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Starz CEO Chris Albrecht announced the network will focus on creating original content, with a goal of 75 hours of programming in three to five years, at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference in New York on Tuesday. Starz has been a target of merger speculation since spinning off from Liberty Media in January.

Family restaurants on the brink of failure are given a chance to turn their fortunes around with the help of celebrated chef and restaurateur Rocco DiSpirito. Six-episode Food Network series Restaurant Divided debuts Thursday, October 24 at 10p.

Julianne Hough returns to Dancing with the Stars to guest judge on Monday, October 7 at 8p. Hough was a two-time professional champion on the reality series before making the transition to recording artist and actress.

New series Knife Fight and Brew Dogs, which air Tuesdays on Esquire, are uniquely suited to the new net because of their “authenticity,” Matt Hanna, Head of Original Programming, tells Cynopsis. “Knight Fight is a cooking competition that’s a little raw, a little rough around the edges,” says the exec. As for Brew Dogs, which focuses on two Scotsmen who have a passion for amazing craft beer, Hanna explains, “Men love food and beer… It just makes sense.” Knife Fight airs at 9p, Brew Dogs at 10p.

Ghosts, zombies and monsters come to life on Nickelodeon‘s Deadtime Stories. The show stars Jennifer Stone as “The Babysitter,” who shares stories from her collection of creepy tales each week. The half-hour series premieres Thursday, October 3 at 8p.

LMN‘s first original series, Killer Profile, features three highly trained criminal profilers who explore the troubled minds and disturbing exploits of America’s most vicious serial killers. Nonfiction series bows Sunday, October 13 at 9p.

A series of specials under the Greatest Mysteries umbrella premieres on Travel Channel on Sunday, November 3 at 9p, beginning with Greatest Mysteries: Smithsonian. Immediately following at 10p, new weekly series America Declassified investigates conspiracy theories, secrets and mysteries.

Guy Court, from the creator and producers of MTV‘s Girl Code and MTV2‘s  Guy Code, features real-life stories ranging from a plaintiff claiming his best friend dated his ex-girlfriend to a roommate who won’t wear deodorant. Half-hour MTV2 show bows Wednesday, November 6 at 11p.

Call for Submissions: Cynopsis is producing a Halloween Programming Guide which comes out on October 17 and will be sent to all Cynopsis and Cynopsis Kids subscribers. If your network has a Halloween-themed programming, please send your listings to Cathy Applefeld Olson at [email protected] no later than Friday Oct 4. Please include the following information: type of program (i.e. series, special, documentary, movie or holiday-themed episode), title, dates and times of all airings (please indicate when the show first premieres and when subsequent encores will air). Cathy will send you a confirmation email following each submission (if you don’t receive a confirmation email, please resubmit). Thanks!
