Fox News Channel is playing musical chairs with its primetime lineup. Megyn Kelly moves from daytime to 9p with The Kelly File. Sean Hannity is bumped to 10p, which means Greta Van Susteren downshifts to 7p, replacing Shepard Smith, who was promoted to a wider-ranging role at the net. The shuffle takes place Monday, October 7.
Mad Men‘s seventh and final season will be cut in half, with the first seven eps airing in spring 2014, and the last seven launching a year later. “This approach has worked well for us,” explained AMC president Charlie Collier, “most recently for us with Breaking Bad, which attracted nearly double the number of viewers to its second half premiere than had watched any previous episode.”
CNN is coproducing a 10-part docuseries about the 1960s with Tom Hanks‘ Playtone and Herzog & Company. The series – called The Sixties – will launch in November, with a 90-minute special coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK, and rejoin CNN in April.
Hard-charging Hollywood manager Marki Costello, granddaughter of comedian Lou, is the subject of an E! reality show about her life called The Drama Queen. The Collins Avenue Productions project premieres Sunday, November 10 at 10p.
The American Film Institute will present its awards honoring TV and film on Friday, January 10. Selected by juries of film and TV experts and AFI trustees, celebration takes place at a luncheon in LA.
The Lisa Oz show launched this week, hosted by the best-selling author and relationship expert on wellness net Veria Living. Guests include celeb pals like Sherri Shepherd and Suze Orman, as well as, of course, as Oz’s husband of 27 years, Dr. Mehmet Oz. Lisa’s friends “will dish out advice on everything from diet to healing to money management,” Paul Cestari, Veria GM, tells Cynopsis. History has its sights on car enthusiasts with a special about 500 vintage vehicles on the auction block. An entire lot of collectible cars, some still wrapped in plastic, will go to the highest bidder on History Made Now: Wheels of Fortune, airing Saturday, September 28 at 8p.
Military Channel will mark National POW/MIA Recognition Day with a blitz of programming to honor military service members. The marathon begins at 10a, and ends with a 4p showing of An Officer and a Movie: The Great Escape, a discussion of the iconic 1963 war film starring Steve McQueen, on Friday, September 20.
HGTV launches feel-good reality show Cousins Undercover next month, with “Kitchen Cousins,” home renovators John Colaneri and Anthony Carrino back on the net to surprise a deserving homeowner with a home redo. On the premiere, Cousins partners with The Ellen Degeneres Show to happily ambush a popular teacher who lives in a major fixer-upper. Series debuts Sunday, October 6 at 8p.
CBS is drumming up social chatter for its fall premieres with its fifth #CBSTweetWeek. CBS talent will chat and tweet live with fans and post exclusive photos during the East Coast broadcast of their shows, from today through Thursday, October 3.
The story of an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate President-elect John F. Kennedy is told in Kennedy’s Suicide Bomber, a Smithsonian Channel special that includes never-before-seen documents. The show, from Raw Cut Television, premieres Sunday, November 17 at 8p.
Internet sensation Grumpy Cat has well over a million likes on Facebook and over 100,000 followers on Twitter – and now the crabby-looking kitty has an ad deal. Grumpy (real name: Tardar Sauce) is the “spokescat” for Friskies, Nestle Purina announced. Neither Purina nor Grumpy shared terms of the deal.
Tr3s has acquired telenovelas Pasion Morena and Bellezas Indomables from Azteca for the Viacom net’s fall lineup. Shows are premiering in the U.S. for the first time.
Syfy has acquired season one of Canadian series Bitten, about a female werewolf torn between two worlds. The drama, from Entertainment One, is set for a 2014 premiere.
CBS’s cooking show for teens, part of its “CBS Dream Team, It’s Epic” Saturday morning line-up, will be hosted by lifestyle expert Evette Rios. Celeb chefs will be tasked with creating healthier versions of viewers’ fave foods on the Litton Entertainment production, starting September 28.
MTV has picked up season four of Ridiculousness and a sixth and final season of Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factor, both produced by Dickhouse. Ridiculousness’ season three is averaging 1.6 P12-34 and 2 million total viewers; Fantasy Factor is averaging 1.7 P12-34 and 1.7 million total viewers.

Rosie O’Donnell is joining ABC Family‘s The Fosters for three eps when season one of the series resumes in January. Evan Jones (8 Mile) has been cast in Lionsgate/A&E Studios mini-series Houdini, as the magician’s assistant. History ordered four hours of the story of the illusionist and his wife, played by Adrien Brody and Kristen Connolly.

Production has started on the seventh Hallmark “The Good Witch” film, starring Catherine Bell (Army Wives). In this installment of the net’s highest-rated original movie series, from Whizbang Films, a stranger in town stirs up trouble. Premiere set for October 2014.
Fox has given a put pilot order to The Whole Shebang, from Jennifer Garner‘s Vandalia Films in association with Warner Bros. TV. Garner is serving as an exec producer on the drama, about a single mom who inherits a strip club.
The Ducks Unlimited TV Show is taking flight. The waterfowl-focused series, currently on Outdoor Channel, will move to Pursuit Channel with new, faster-paced episodes beginning July 2014.
CBS Studios International has inked a streaming deal with LOVEFiLM for Under the Dome. The licensing agreement makes the Amazon company the sole subscription-based service to stream the Amblin Television summer smash in the U.K.
Comedy Central UK has acquired the rights to two other CBS Studios shows: upcoming comedies The Millers and We Are Men. Men launches Stateside Monday, September 30 at 8:30p; Millers bows Thursday, October 3 at 8:30p.
Welcome to The O.C…. Turkey. The Fox teen drama is being adapted for Turkish channel Star TV, from Warner Bros. International Television Production and Ay Yapim. It’s the first international adaptation for the show.
U.K.’s BSkyB has ordered three new shows, medical drama Critical and two Playhouse Presents… films for its Sky Arts net, and joined Showtime as co-producer of thriller Penny Dreadful. The spending spree is part of the pay-TV company’s commitment to investing in U.K.-produced content.
TrueVisions Group has inked a carriage deal with RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network to bring RTL’s new HD channel to Thailand. It will also be available on TrueVisions Anywhere.
AMC/Sundance Channel Global will soon air AMC/Endemol Studios drama Low Winter Sun in Central and Easter Europe, Iberia and Asia. The freshman crime thriller airs here Sundays at 10p.
Sleepy Hollow‘s headless horseman handed Fox a 3.5/9 rating in A18-49 on Monday, according to Nielsen, making it the net’s highest-rated fall drama in seven years. The showing helped Fox win the night in the demo, with a 2.9/8 average.
The premiere of ABC‘s Dancing with the Stars earned a 3.1/9 rating A18-49; its 10.2/16 household rating made it first in total viewers.
Hallmark was tops in primetime cable among households on Saturday. Cedar Cove scored its highest ratings since its debut (2.1 household/1,817,000 viewers), while Garage Sale Mystery, starring Lori Loughlin, premiered to a 2.1 household rating and 2.3 million viewers.
All hail the Queen. The Queen Latifah Show‘s Monday debut in syndication scored a 1.7/5 average in metered markets, the second-best premiere for a talk show since Dr. Oz bowed in 2009. In W25-54, the Sony Pictures Television talker was up 80 percent from year-ago time slots and 29 percent from its lead-ins, with .9/5.

ABC’s Dancing with the Stars drew 3.0/9 to win at 8p, over 2.3/7 for Fox’s Bones. The premiere of Fox’s Sleepy Hollow snatched 9p with 3.5/9, to outstep Dancing’s 3.3/9. CBS’s Under the Dome stole 10p with 2.8/8 to the 1.3/4 scored by ABC’s Castle.

Oxygen Media has added Jennifer Young to its team as Vice President, Ad Sales Marketing. Young had been VP, Strategy and Integrated Marketing for CBS Local Media in New York.
Adam Green has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Thinkfactory Media, recently acquired by ITV. Prior to joining Thinkfactory, Green directed a campaign for Partnership for a Drug-Free America.
Personal manager Jon Mercedes died September 16 from colon cancer. He was 65. In addition to repping actors, Mercedes was a film and TV executive, and CEO of Fiesta Studios.
Actress Lyn Peters died September 10. She was 72. Peters, the widow of actor Paul Burke, appeared in 1960s series including Batman, Get Smart and The Rat Patrol. After retiring from acting, she founded Custom Catering, counting Frank Sinatra among her clients.
