Early in the new broadcast season, NBC handed full-season pickups to three new series, Revolution, Go On and The New Normal. NBC placed the back nine orders for each series.
HBO renewed its prohibition-era drama Boardwalk Empire for a fourth season. The series’ recent third season premiere on September 16 drew in 2.9 million total viewers and the number has increased to 7.2 million viewers combining additional telecasts, DVR playback, On Demand and HBO Go.
Actor Josh Brolin was tapped to narrate HISTORY’s upcoming epic 12-hour/six night event, Mankind The Story of All of Us which premieres November 13 at 9p. The series is produced for HISTORY by Nutopia.
TV One has a new original investigative series Celebrity Crime Files set to premiere on October 15 at 10p. The series will examine some of the most controversial crimes in recent history involving celebrities such as Marvin Gaye, Jam Master Jay and Peter Tosh. The series is produced for TV One by K2 Pictures.
Independent multi-platform network, Blue Highways TV (BHTV) will debut the new Stan Hitchcock Show this Thursday at 7p. The program showcases digitally restored classic footage of country music stars from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Also on Thursday, BHTV exclusively debuts the series Welcome To The Ranch at 730p which is a locally produced show taped in Harrisonburg and hosted by Virginia-based country recording artists, Tim Spears and Lisa Meadows.
October 13 marks the start of AMC’s annual AMC Fearfest, a 19-day on-air film festival highlighting more than 70 movies and featuring such horror franchises as Friday the 13th and Halloween among many others. AMC Fearfest also includes the season premieres of AMC original series The Walking Dead, Talking Dead and Comic Book Men. Kevin Smith, director, producer, writer, podcaster and executive producer of AMC’s Comic Book Men will host the event. Prior to the season three premiere of The Walking Dead, AMC will air a marathon of the first two seasons starting October 13 at 10a through October 14. The Walking Dead season three premiere is set for October 14 at 9p followed by an encore then the season two debut of Talking Dead at 11p. Season two of Comic Book Men will air at 1130p.
TNT reveals its winter 2012-13 premiere dates: Rizzoli & Isles from Warner Horizon Television returns on November 27 at 9p; Leverage from Electric Entertainment is back November 27 at 10p; Dallas opens with a two-hour premiere on January 28 at 9p produced by Warner Horizon Television; the series premiere of Monday Mornings from producer David E. Kelley and produced by TNT Originals and David E. Kelley Productions bows on February 4 at 10p; Southland debuts its season premiere on February 13 at 10p produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television; and Boston’s Finest (wt) has its series premiere on February 27 from Jarrett Creative Group and executive producer Donnie Wahlberg’s Donnie D. Productions.

A third season of Extra Virgin, starring actress Debi Mazar and her husband Gabriele Corcos returns to Cooking Channel beginning November 7 at 930p. The show follows Debi and her Italian chef husband as they move their family from Los Angeles to Brooklyn and also visit their home in Tuscany.
Bravo reports The Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion part one attracted 5.8 million total viewers for the night on Sunday, according to Nielsen. The 10p telecast also pulled in 3.5 million total viewers and 2.1 million among A18-49.

DVD and digital distributor Imavision picked up the US and Canada English/French DVD and digital distribution rights to the drama series Bomb Girls starring Meg Tilly. Imavision will launch Bomb Girls to the Canadian home entertainment market this fourth quarter in both English and French. The US release is set for spring 2013. Bomb Girls airs currently on Global and Addik TV in Canada and on REELZCHANNEL in the US. Muse Entertainment and Back Alley Film Production produce the series.
AMC/Sundance Channel Global ushers in more launches of Sundance Channel internationally as the network is now on UPC Romania and on Euskaltel in Spain.

Zodiak Rights, the international unit of Zodiak Media Group announced the entertainment format Nation’s Brightest from German Production Company I&U TV Production has been commissioned by BBC One for a six-part primetime series. Production will commence soon on TLC’s new series Starter Wives (wt) going inside the world of celebrity ex-wives and ex-girlfriends. Filming will begin the middle of this month and is slated to premiere in early 2013. Four one-hour episodes have been ordered by the network produced by NOLA.
Patton Oswalt was cast in a recurring role on FX’s Justified season four, reports TVLine. Oswalt will play Bob Sweeney, a local constable who went to high school with Raylan and has been hired by the lawman to watch Arlo’s house. Production on season four begins next week in Santa Clarita, CA and will likely debut in early 2013.

The Voice on NBC continued to stay on top during 9p with a 5.0/12 and more comedies on CBS remained planted in second place as 2 Broke Girls and Mike & Molly averaged a 3.2/8. The Hollywood Radio and Television Society (HRTS) appointed four new board members: Bela Bajaria, EVP, Universal Television; Thom Beers, CEO, FremantleMedia, North America; Ivy Kagan Bierman, Partner, Loeb & Loeb; and Tom Frank, CEO Pink Zulu Labs.
CBS Global Distribution Group named Armando Nunez to the newly-created position as President/CEO. Armando will head CBS’ combined domestic and international television distribution business. In this new management structure, department heads from both the CBS Television Distribution and CBS Studios International will report to Armando. In addition, John Nogawski, President of CBS Television Distribution will be stepping down from his position after helping with the transition.
FX Networks, comprising FX and FX Movie Channel and FX Productions, in association with FOX tapped Gina Balian as SVP/Limited Series for FX Networks and FX Productions. In this newly-minted role, Gina will head the development and production of limited and miniseries for FX and FXM. Gina will report Nick Grad, EVP/Original Programming for FX and to Eric Schrier, EVP of FX Productions and Head/Series Development for FX.
Digital media company Captivate Network appointed Dan Levi as CMO where he will help find innovative ways to serve the company’s clients and attract new brands to the digital place-based media space. Dan will report to Mike DiFranza, President.
Effective October 1, Sandra Vauthier-Cellier began her new position as Chief Brand Officer at Belgium-headquartered Studio 100 Group. Sandra will concentrate on the company’s global brands Maya, Heidi, Vicky, Hotel 13 and Blinky Bill and will work across the entire Studio 100 Group worldwide.
Michael LaBroad joins Rural Media Group, Inc. (RMG) in the new role as CMO. Michael has had experience as CMO at Anheuser-Busch, Bass Pro Shops and The National Hockey League. In his new role, Michael will oversee all marketing efforts and also integrate the advertising sales departments of RFD-TV, RURAL TV, RFD-TV The Magazine, RFD-TV The Theatre and the company’s associated web properties.
AMC/Sundance Channel Global added Zsuzsa Mezo to spearhead sales and distribution for Sundance Channel in Central Europe and to offer marketing support to Sundance Channel affiliates in the region. She reports to Marco Frazier, VP/Global Distribution EMEA.
