Sophomore series The Glades was granted a third season renewal by A&E Network for summer 2012. A&E gave The Glades, starring Matt Passmore ten new episodes from Fox Television Studios. The Glades’ 13-episode second season, which ended in September averaged 3.87 million total viewers per episode based on full-week DVR playback. In addition, A&E is bringing a new season of Breakout Kings to its lineup in 2012 as well as premiering new scripted drama series Longmire with ten episodes.
Looking for new outrageous ways humans can expire, Spike TV ordered a fourth season of its original series 1000 Ways to Die from Original Productions. The series highlights true stories of the many unusual ways people give up the ghost. Spike TV approved a 13-episode season slated to premiere in March 2012. The series is presently in the midst of its third season which is averaging 1.6 million total viewers.
Several feature-length documentaries were announced as part of VH1’s Rock Doc franchise scheduled to air yet this year and into 2012. Michael Jackson: This Is It premieres November 7; The TRL Debate (wt) is scheduled to air in December; It Might Get Loud is set for January 2012; Uprising: Hip Hop and the L.A. Riots (wt) debuts next April; and Downloaded (wt) is slated for middle to late 2012.
On Monday during the 10p hour, new docu-series Bachelorette Party: Las Vegas has become Oxygen’s best freshman docu-series debut ever with 814,000 total viewers; 575,000 with A18-49; and 443,000 among W18-49.

Artists Den Entertainment, behind the concert series Live From the Artists Den and Connecticut-based Northstar Media are teaming to take the public television series to international markets. Northstar Media will hold the international television and VOD distribution rights to the 30 one-hour episodes of Live From the Artists Den. The hi-def series highlights top musicians, such as Elvis Costello, Ben Harper, Ringo Starr, Tori Amos and more performing in unique venues. Co-production on the fourth season of the series is currently underway from Artists Den Entertainment and WLIW21 in association with WNET New York Public Media.
Canadian-based Picture Box Distribution sold the reality series Brides of Beverly Hills, with 13 half-hour episodes to TLC in the US. The series goes behind the scenes of elite bridal boutique owner Renee Strauss and her eclectic team as they work with over-the-top brides. Planetworks Inc. produces the series in association with Slice Network. TLC will debut the series on October 28 at 10p.
Stand-up comedian Sarah Colonna’s new book, Life As I Blow It: Tales of Love, Life & Sex . . . Not Necessarily in That Order is the basis of a new single-camera comedy project picked up by NBC. Colonna, who regularly appears in E!’s Chelsea Lately show, will serve as writer and executive producer on the project about her life in the Midwest and her eccentric friends and family who offer their unbridled opinions and actions. Other executive producers include Danielle Sanchez, Happy Madison’s Doug Robinson and New Wave Entertainment’s Abbey MacDonald, Michael Pelmont and Brian Volk Weiss. The comedy will be produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison and New Wave Entertainment, Lunch Bag Snail Productions and Universal Television in association with Sony Pictures Television.
The CW is working with writer Bert Royal (Easy A) and Warner Bros. Television to develop the action/thriller series Dare. Royal is writing the script for Warner Bros.-based Lin Pictures and will also serve as executive producer with Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz. Dare is about a group of six young adults who are forced to play a deadly version of the Truth or Dare game.
Haunted schools are the subject of Syfy’s upcoming new unscripted series School Spirits from executive producers Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Apprentice) and Seth Jarrett (Celebrity Ghost Stories). The new one-hour series with six episodes will relate true stories of paranormal activity happening at schools across America as told in first-person narratives and testimonials from students, teachers, parents and staff as well as reenactments.
Production has started this week on the inaugural season of TNT’s new series Dallas from Warner Horizon Television. The series is shot on location in Dallas, TX and revisits Southfork home of the powerful Ewing family and the next generation of Ewings who take ambition and deception to a new level. TNT will roll out Dallas next summer. Josh Henderson stars as John Ross Ewing and Jesse Metcalfe plays Christopher, Bobby’s adopted son. Among the cast are returning stars Larry Hagman, reprising his notorious role as J.R. Ewing; Patrick Duffy as Bobby Ewing; and Linda Gray as Sue Ellen Ewing.
Negotiations are in the final stages to see Chord Overstreet make a comeback to FOX’s Glee on a recurring basis. The deal is not yet complete though if Overstreet does rejoin Glee as Sam, he is expected to first appear in the present season’s eighth episode.
For the third season of FX’s Justified, TV and film actress Carla Gugino landed a recurring role as Karen Goodall, a Washington, D.C.-based assistant director of the US Marshals Service who used to work with Raylan in Miami. Season three of Justified launches in early 2012 on FX.
Veteran actress Annabeth Gish will show up in a three-episode run on CBS’ CSI though her episodes will be non-consecutive beginning during November sweeps. Per TVLine, Matt Lauria (Chicago Code, Friday Night Lights) will also be joining CSI in multiple episodes starting next month.

Saturday A18-49 Analysis: FOX took the lead Saturday among A18-49 at 2.2/7, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. FOX’s MLB ALCS Game 6 won at 8p with a 1.9/7 followed by ABC’s NASCAR coverage in Charlotte at 1.4/5. At 9p, FOX did the best with more of MLB’s ALCS Game 6 at 2.4/8 and ABC’s Bank of America 500 race remained in second place at 1.6/5. FOX hit a home run for the night by winning the 10p hour as well with the MLB ALCS Game 6 at 2.3/7 and ABC continued in #2 with its NASCAR race at 1.7/5.

Sunday A18-49 Analysis: NBC held the top position Sunday with the A18-49 viewers at 5.7/14, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. FOX had a huge lead at 7p with The OT at 5.0/14 and NBC’s Football Night in America Part 2 was next at 2.0/6. At 8p, NBC trumped with a combination of Football Night in America Part 3 and NBC Sunday Night Football with an average of 5.3/14 followed by FOX’s The X-Factor at 3.4/9. Same scenario at 9p as NBC’s Sunday Night Football match between Minnesota at Chicago won with a 7.0/17 and FOX’s The X-Factor remained firmly in second place at 3.3/8. NBC polished off the last win of the night with the final hour of Sunday Night Football delivering a 6.2/15 though during 10p CBS’ CSI: Miami took over the #2 spot at 2.4/6.

CBS opened the night at 8p a winner with How I Met Your Mother and 2 Broke Girls with an average of 4.3/12 followed by ABC’s Dancing with the Stars at 3.1/9 and NBC’s Terra Nova was third at 2.8/8. CBS held the top spot through 9p with comedies Two and a Half Men and Mike & Molly at an average of 4.6/11 and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars maintained a steady beat in #2 at 3.5/8 and FOX’s House was next at 3.1/7. CBS pulled off a clean sweep as Hawaii Five-O beat all during 10p at 3.1/8 and ABC didn’t budge either in second place with Castle at 2.5/6.

A+E Networks announced two promotions:
- Jonathan South to VP/Content Sales, EMEA to supervise the EMEA content sales team and oversees sales on behalf of the company’s 9,500+ hour catalog throughout the region. Jonathan is based in London and reports to Dean Possenniskie, Managing Director/Europe and to Ian Jones, Managing Director/International Content Distribution and Commercial Development.
- Ling-Sze Gan to Senior Director/Content Sales, Asia where she manages distribution throughout Asia to standard and non-standard television. Based in Singapore, Ling-Sze reports to Alan Hodges, Managing Director/Asia-Pacific and to Ian Jones.
Pulling double duty soon, NBC News’ Natalie Morales is joining as a Correspondent on the upcoming weekly newsmagazine program Rock Center with Brian Williams. Morales will continue in her regular role as news anchor of Today and co-host of the third hour. Rock Center with Brian Williams opens on October 31 at 10p on NBC.
Perry Baldwin was appointed to the newly-created role as Chief Possibility Officer with Insight Research Group. Perry will also become a senior level member of the company’s recently-established Leadership team and will head the communication of the Insight’s external and internal strategic goals among other activities.
Brad Collar was tapped as SVP/GM, Global Digital Media eXchange with Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc. Brad will spearhead Global Digital Media eXchange, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warner Bros. while reporting to Brian McKay, EVP/Production Operations.
Former Bravo and Oxygen executive Amy Introcaso-Davis was named EVP/Programming at GSN (Game Show Network) beginning November 1. In her new role, Amy will have oversight on developing and acquiring programming to increase GSN’s target audience of adult females. Based in Los Angeles, Amy will report to David Goldhill, President/CEO of GSN.
Channel One News upped Pete Thomas to SVP/Sales and Marketing. Pete is charged with leading the strategy and development of Channel One’s sales and marketing activities in addition to supervising the national sales operation. He reports to Kent Haehl, Channel One CEO.
Daniel Pine joins Peleton Entertainment as a new Agent for the company. Daniel will work in tandem with owner Rob Miller to expand and service the company’s increasing list of clients comprised of television producers and production companies. Previously, Daniel worked for Al Roker Entertainment for four years as Director/Development.
Independent production company, LMNO Productions added Lori Rothschild Ansaldi as Executive Director/Development and Lisa Logan as Director/Development.
