FOX wants more Bob’s Burgers, giving the animated comedy a fourth season renewal consisting of 22 episodes.  Recently, Bob’s Burgers was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program in addition to a 2012 Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Animated Series.  Bob’s Burgers is produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

In other renewal news, The CW gave America’s Next Top Model a 20th cycle set to premiere in summer 2013.  For the first time, this next edition will allow male models to participate and viewers will continue to vote for their favorite contestants via social media. 

Late yesterday, FOX officially revealed television personality Khloe Kardashian Odom and TV host/actor Mario Lopez will host the second season of The X Factor which airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8p.  Odom and Lopez will first appear as hosts during the live broadcasts of The X Factor starting this November.  Created by Syco Television, The X Factor is produced by Syco Television and FremantleMedia North America.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly, dick clark productions and NBC announced The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.  The duo will host NBC’s exclusive live coverage on January 13 starting at 8p from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

16-time Grammy Award-winner Beyonce has been chosen to perform during the Pepsi Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show on CBS airing live February 3.  The NFL and CBS jointly made this announcement about the most-watched musical event of the year.  More than 112.5 million viewers in the US watched last year’s show and the Super Bowl and its halftime show is broadcast worldwide.  Super Bowl XLVII will be telecast from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.  The Pepsi Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show is an NFL Network Production and is executive produced by Ricky Kirchner and directed by Hamish Hamilton.

Drama series Being Human will premiere its third season on Syfy January 14 at 9p.  Starring Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington, the cast welcomes Kristen Hager for the new season as a series regular.  The new season will consist of 13 episodes produced by Muse Entertainment in association with ZODIAK USA.

A third season of Ice Loves Coco is on tap to premiere October 28 at 1030p on E! On November 4, the series will move to its regular 10p time period.  The series follows Ice T and Coco as they balance married life while each pursues their dream careers.  Ice Loves Coco is created and produced by Comcast Entertainment Studios.

RLTV moves its series Danger Zone to primetime when the second season premieres this Thursday at 8p.  Danger Zone, hosted by former US Ambassador Richard Carlson offers insight and analysis into the world of counterterrorism, espionage and international and domestic security issues.  The half-hour weekly series will additionally repeat on Sundays at 7a and 10a.

Rural Media Group, Inc., comprised of RFD-TV, RURAL TV and Family Net has handed a two-year renewal to its weekly polka music program, Mollie B Polka Party hosted by Mollie Busta.  The one-hour show highlights the nation’s best polka bands and other ethnic music styles produced on location at music venues around the country.  Rural Media Group also produces the Mollie B Christmas Special taking place at RFD-TV The Theatre in Branson, MO November 11-12.  The special will air multiple times in December on RFD-TV and RURAL TV. 

CTAM Summit News: TV One reported its social media activity surrounding its original series R&B Divas and The Rickey Smiley Show have increased following the recent premieres of both shows.  TV One’s year-to-date Facebook page has experienced a 190% boost in fans and a 106% growth with its Twitter followers.  Specifically, the series R&B Divas has seen its Facebook fans increase by 132% since its premiere on August 20.  Furthermore, The Rickey Smiley Show has tallied an increase of 1,461% among its Facebook fans. 

Last Sunday, Discovery Channel’s broadcast of Discovery News’ Space Jump Live documenting Felix Baumgartner’s record-breaking jump, attracted 7.6 million total viewers between 9a to 4p.  The coverage also delivered an average of 4.21 million total viewers. 

Clarification: MTV’s new hidden camera game show series Totally Clueless is produced by One Louder Productions and Magilla Entertainment.  The show premieres next Monday at 7p.

Sundance Channel and WE tv secured additional carriage in Taiwan with CNS which launched both networks in hi-def on October 10 as part of its expanding IPTV service.  CNS offers access to these networks for its customers in hi-def with Mandarin subtitles. 

~ INTERNATIONAL HAPPENINGS ~

Once TV Mexico, owned by Mexico’s Instituto Politecnico Nacional will premiere a new science fiction series, Nino Santo on October 31 at midnight via its international signal. The six-episode series is based on the legend of Nino Fidencio, a famous Mexican healer whose notoriety grew in the 1920s.  Pablo Cruz, Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna produced the series.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

3net, the joint venture from Sony, Discovery and IMAX has established 3net Studios, a new international television program production and distribution division.  3net Studios will be located at both Sony Pictures headquarters in Los Angeles and Discovery Communications headquarters in Silver Spring, MD.  The studio will house a worldwide team of creative staffers using the latest technology and their production expertise to produce native 3D content. 

Picking up a hit from across the pond, FOX handed a script order for a US version of the BBC comedy Gavin & Stacey about a couple working to maintain a long-distance relationship.  Series creators/writers/co-stars James Corden and Ruth Jones are involved as EPs along with their former EP Henry Normal for Baby Cow Productions with David Rosen on board to write the script.  BBC Worldwide Productions’ Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner will also serve as EPs with Sony Pictures Television producing.

The CW is also adapting a miniseries project from the UK titled Metropolis, reports THR.  Created by Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon), the eight-part series originally premiered in 2000 and aired on Granada TV.  The plot is about a group of friends and recent college grads as they make their way into the real world.  Rob Thomas will write the script and be an EP through his Rob Thomas Productions along with Warren Littlefield’s Littlefield Co. and ITV Studios America President/CEO Paul Buccieri in association with Warner Bros. Television.

TNT’s upcoming drama The Last Ship, based on William Brinkley’s novel of the same name, cast Rhona Mitra (Strike Back) to play Rachel Scott, a strong-willed intelligent and fearless paleomicrobiologist.  Michael Bay executive produces the drama.

Former ER actor Ron Eldard is joining FX’s Justified for its fourth season in the recurring role as Colt, a violent and rule-breaking sergeant with the military police.  Justified will return to FX’s schedule in early 2013. 

Tom Lenk landed a recurring role on Lifetime’s pilot Witches of East End, per THR. Lenk will play Hudson Rafferty, a librarian and friend to Ingrid who helps her cast a fertility spell on one of their friends.

Saturday A18-49 Analysis:  ABC held its Saturday night winning streak among A18-49 at 1.2/4, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen.  At 8p, ABC raced to the finish line first with its Bank of America 500 Race at 1.3/5 followed by a tie for second place between FOX’s College Football and Univision’s Sabado Gigante at 0.8/3 each.  ABC won again during 9p with its race at 1.2/4 and Univision’s Sabado Gigante was the only network in #2 at 0.8/2.  ABC polished off the final win of the night with more of its Bank of America 500 race in Charlotte at 1.3/4 and CBS’ 48 Hours Mystery moved into #2 at 1.0/3.

Sunday A18-49 Analysis:  NBC scored the highest ratings Sunday with the A18-49 viewers at 6.6/17, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen.  FOX won the 7p hour with The OT at 4.4/13 and NBC’s Football Night in America Part 2 came next at 2.3/7 followed by CBS’ 60 Minutes at 2.0/6.  NBC dominated the 8p hour with a combination of Football Night in America Part 3 and Sunday Night Football at an average of 6.0/16 and ABC’s Once Upon a Time trailed posting half as much at 3.0/8 and CBS’ The Amazing Race was third at 2.6/7.  NBC’s best ratings of the night for Sunday Night Football came in the 9p hour at 8.0/19 and ABC’s Revenge was a distant #2 at 2.6/6 and FOX’s MLB NLCS Game was third at 2.1/5.  NBC was still riding high at 10p with more Sunday Night Football at 7.8/19 and CBS placed second with The Mentalist at 2.1/5 and FOX was in a close third position with its MLB NLCS Game at 2.0/5 and ABC came in fourth with 666 Park Avenue at 1.5/4.

Monday A18-49 Analysis:  Week to week, NBC was consistent and stayed at #1 Monday with a 4.4/11 among A18-49, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen.   At 8p, NBC’s The Voice attracted the most viewers at 4.6/13 followed by CBS’ comedies How I Met Your Mother and Partners at an average of 2.7/7 and then ABC’s Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars was third at 2.0/5.  It was the same line-up during 9p as NBC remained in control with more of The Voice at 5.1/13, CBS stayed firmly in second place with its sitcoms 2 Broke Girls and Mike & Molly at an average of 3.2/8 and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars also continued in third place at 2.3/6.  NBC tallied a third primetime win with Revolution delivering a 3.3/9 in the 10p hour with CBS’ Hawaii Five-O next at 2.1/5 and ABC’s Castle in a close third place position at 2.0/5.

~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

The CBS Corporation announced a new agreement with President/CEO Leslie Moonves which extends his term with CBS through June 30, 2017.  This new agreement supersedes his previous contract which was set to end in 2015. 

CBS Television Stations tapped Mark Lund as President/GM for WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV in Boston.  Mark succeeds Ed Piette who is retiring after 43 years in local television of which six years were with WBZ and WSBK as of October 26.  Since July 2007, Mark served as EVP/Sales for the NBC Owned Television Stations.  Mark is returning home to Boston where he had previously spent a combined 11 years with WBZ and WSBK.

Stuart Krasnow joins Telepictures Productions as EVP/Creative Affairs to supervise the company’s creative activities involving new program and content development for all distribution outlets.  Stuart, who reports to Hilary Estey McLoughlin, President, will be in charge of creating new programming for Telepictures’ first-run syndication business, cable strips, digital and will additionally be responsible for identifying ideas and talent across all platforms.

AMC/Sundance Channel Global hired Keith Mak as Head/Distribution, Asia to oversee affiliate distribution and marketing for Sundance Channel and WE tv in the Asian region.  Based in Hong Kong, Keith will report to Ed Palluth, EVP/Global Distribution, AMC/Sundance Channel Global. 

Katz Television Marketing added Luis Duarte and Matt Tune both in the role as Directors/Sales and Marketing.  Luis is based in Los Angeles while Matt is located in Chicago.

Creative content agency and multiplatform film/television production company, M3 Creative tapped Arielle Worono as Director/Development where she will head a major expansion of the newly-established M3 Creative Reality unit.  Arielle will work in tandem with M3 Partner/CEO Andy Meyers to build the company’s growing presence as a programming provider and content creator across various platforms.
