A happy ending is in store for NBC’s frosh drama Grimm as the network gave the one-hour series a back-nine episode order for a full season commitment. In its Friday 9p slot, Grimm is averaging 6.9 million total viewers and a 2.3 rating among A18-49 including DVR data. NBC will additionally give Grimm a try on Thursday primetime by scheduling an episode on December 8 at 10p.
To promote its upcoming second season, IFC’s original comedy series Portlandia is going on a six-city tour. Presented by Broadway Video and IFC, Portlandia: The Tour will feature series stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein as they bring Portland, OR’s unique qualities to life for fans. The tour starts in Portland, OR on December 27 and then goes to Seattle on December 28; San Francisco on December 30; Los Angeles on January 17; Chicago on January 18; Brooklyn, NY on January 20; and New York City on January 21. BBC America has approved a new adventure cooking competition series, No Kitchen Required set to launch next spring. In 10 one-hour episodes, the original unscripted series will watch as three chefs, who have been dropped in a remote location, must work with locals to hunt, scavenge and collect ingredients to create a locally-inspired meal that will be judged by the community. A new remote location will be chosen for each episode including Thailand, Belize, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Australia and New Zealand as well as US locales including the Louisiana Bayou, South Carolina’s Outer Banks, Big Cypress, FL and Hawaii. British presenter Shini Somara will host the show and join the three chefs, New York Restaurateur Michael Psilakis, the first Chopped Grand Champion chef Madison Cowan and New Zealand chef Kayne Raymond. No Kitchen Required is produced by Notional, an IAC company.
Tennis lessons resume as Tennis Channel debuts a fourth season of Tennis Channel Academy this Sunday at 12p. Champion player Tracy Austin hosts the weekly half-hour series where a different coach each episode offers their pro tips and techniques to viewers. Double episodes will air this Sunday featuring former players Taylor Dent and Vijay Amritraj.

GSN (Game Show Network) picked up the exclusive off-network rights to ABC’s Dancing with the Stars from Disney-ABC Domestic Television. GSN will air seasons 4 through 13 which concluded its season finale last night on ABC. The deal also allows GSN rights to season 14. Episodes of Dancing with the Stars will begin airing on GSN in January. The US version of Dancing with the Stars is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions.
Eleven classic TV sitcoms from Carsey Werner were added to the online video joint venture Hulu and its Hulu Plus subscription service. The TV shows include 580 total episodes from The Cosby Show, Whoopi, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Grounded For Life, That 80’s Show, The Tracy Morgan Show, Damon, Men Behaving Badly, Game Over, Davis Rules and Normal, Ohio. Financial terms were not disclosed and the shows became available middle of this month.
NBC is moving forward with a pilot order for the untitled sitcom starring Sarah Silverman playing basically herself, a woman who is newly single after a long relationship. In August, NBC gave the project a pilot commitment.
Drama adventure series Golddigger was picked up by The CW. The one-hour series is described as part Indiana Jones and part National Treasure about a young female treasure hunter who searches for artifacts on behalf of various mysterious clients. The project is from executive producer Bill Haber (Rizzoli & Isles) and his Ostar Productions. Stephanie Germain is on board as executive producer and Lauren Horowitz will write.
Landing his first regular TV role, Ewan McGregor joins the cast of HBO’s The Corrections. HBO is adapting the novel by Jonathan Franzen about a dysfunctional Midwestern family. Chris Cooper and Dianne Wiest were previously cast in the parent roles and McGregor will play their second child Chip. The Corrections is still in the pilot phase.
New FOX drama Touch starring Kiefer Sutherland tagged Roxana Brusso (Southland) for a recurring role playing Sheri, a tough former biker with a heart of gold, per EW. Sheri is the director and physical therapist at a facility that cares for Jake, the odd gifted son of Sutherland’s single dad role. Touch is slated to premiere next spring on FOX.
Syfy approved a pilot script for a one-hour drama based on the DC Comics franchise, Booster Gold, reports THR. The project is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television. Greg Berlanti will serve as executive producer while Andrew Kreisberg will write the script and also be an executive producer. The plot is about Booster Gold, a has-been athlete from the future who travels back to the present time in hopes of becoming the best super hero ever. Instead of battling criminals, he chooses to chase money and fame.
Casting Call: A major cable network is casting for a docu-series about beautiful single women looking for Mr. Right. The docu-series, Finding Mr. Right is from the producers of such series as The Locator and Beyond the Glory. The series will pair two women with professional matchmakers who set them up with hand-selected eligible bachelors until they find Mr. Right. Beautiful women who are ready for a serious relationship, would like to work with a professional matchmaker, find that men are intimidated by them or perhaps have a career that prevents them from meeting someone special should consider applying. Saturday A18-49 Analysis: ABC scored the best ratings Saturday at 3.3/11 A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. ABC’s Saturday Night Football triumphed throughout primetime winning at 8p with a 2.2/7 followed by the double Cops episodes on FOX at an average of 1.3/4. During 9p, ABC’s college football double-header delivered a top-rated 2.7/9 while CBS’ Crimetime Saturday was next at 0.9/3. ABC’s Saturday Night Football spiked to a 3.3/10 at 10p while CBS’ 48 Hours Mystery and NBC’s Law & Order: SVU repeat tied for #2 at 1.1/3 each.

Sunday A18-49 Analysis: NBC ruled Sunday posting a 6.6/16 with the A18-49 viewers, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. NBC was on top at 7p with Football Night in America Part 2 at 2.9/8 though CBS’ 60 Minutes was a close #2 at 2.9/7. NBC’s Football Night in America Part 3 and Sunday Night Football averaged a 5.5/14 to hold #1 during 8p and ABC’s opening hour of the American Music Awards was second at 3.9/10. At 9p, NBC’s Sunday Night Football match was #1 with a 7.7/18 and ABC’s coverage of the AMAs was next at 4.7/11. The final hour of primetime went to NBC and its Sunday Night Football game at 7.4/18 and ABC’s AMAs finished off solidly in second place at 4.5/11.

Monday A18-49 Analysis: CBS won Monday night by delivering a 4.0/10 among A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. CBS’ sitcoms How I Met Your Mother and 2 Broke Girls averaged a top-rated 4.5/12 at 8p and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars was #2 at 3.5/9 and FOX’s Terra Nova was #3 at 2.1/6. CBS performed at its peak again during 9p as its comedies Two and a Half Men and Mike & Molly averaged a 4.7/12 to win with FOX’s House in second place at 2.5/6, Univision’s La Fuerza del Destino was third at 2.0/5 and in fourth place was the premiere of ABC’s new game show You Deserve It at 1.7/4. At 10p, CBS ended the night a clean sweep winner with Hawaii Five-O at 2.8/7 and ABC’s Castle was next at 2.3/6 with Univision’s Don Francisco Presenta in third at 1.4/4 and NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams placing fourth at 0.9/2.

Effective immediately, Ariel Roblin was named President/GM of KETV, the ABC affiliate in Omaha owned by Hearst Television Inc. Ariel follows Sarah Smith in this position who was recently appointed President/GM of KMBC/KCWE, Hearst’s ABC and CW affiliates respectively in the Kansas City market.
AMC Networks Inc. hired Alicia Broughel as Senior Counsel/Compliance Officer for AMC Networks and John Derderian as Senior Counsel for AMC/Sundance Channel Global. Both appointments are effective immediately. Alicia will be based in New York and report to Anne Kelly, SVP/Corporate and Securities. John will also be based in New York and report to Cliff Bail, SVP/Corporate Legal, AMC Networks.
Spanish Broadcasting System Inc. (SBS) promoted Felix Lopez to VP/SBS Miami Radio/TV-Consolidated Sales. Felix, who has been with SBS since 1993, will supervise all advertising sales and operations activities for MegaTV, Romance 106.7FM, Clasica 92.3FM, El Zol 95.7FM, Cima 106.3FM as well as the website www.lamusica.com .
