ABC announced midseason premiere dates, including a time slot shuffle for soapy drama Revenge. On Thursday, January 2, cooking competition The Taste returns for a sophomore season at 8p and limited series The Assets debuts at 10p. The Bachelor returns for season 18 on Monday, January 6 at 8p, and Killer Women bows Wednesday, January 15 at 10p. Suburgatory comes back for a third season Wednesday, January 15 at 8:30 (replacing canceled Back in the Game), Mixology premieres Wednesday, February 26 at 9:30p, and Mind Games launches Tuesday, March 11 at 10p. Revenge cedes its Sunday at 9p spot to Resurrection, sliding to 10p starting March 9.
CNBC star Maria Bartiromo is leaving the business net when her contract expires November 24. According to the Drudge Report, Bartiromo, who joined CNBC in 1993, is headed to Fox Business Network.
FX ordered 13 episodes of vampire drama The Strain. Based on the trilogy written by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, who co-wrote the pilot and will exec produce, the drama series is scheduled for a July 2014 premiere.
AMC‘s The Walking Dead trotted off with the most viewers in television in scripted Sunday night, scoring 6.05 A18-49 rating and over 12 million viewers. With two episodes left in the first half of its fourth season, the zombie drama has solidified its position as the number one show on television (cable or broadcast) among adults 18-49, averaging 13.4 million live/same-day viewers each week and 8.7 million A18-49. Also of note? “How young the audience is,” Brad Adgate, SVP of research at Horizon Media, tells Cynopsis. “The median age for viewers is in the 30s, and that is extraordinary.”
Bonnie & Clyde, the two-part mini-series being simulcast on A+E Networks‘ Lifetime, A&E and History, will feature cross-network sponsorships from six sponsors including GEICO; Jeep Cherokee; DIRECTV; Match.com; GSK and 20th Century Fox’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. In addition, A+E Networks will customize GEICO vignettes targeted specifically to each network. “Our partners can go broad with our major brands – and deep with the ability to speak to each network’s audience across all our platforms,” said David DeSocio, Senior Vice President, Ad Sales Marketing & Sponsorships, A+E Networks. B&C airs Sunday, December 8 and Monday, December 9 at 9p.
Howard Stern announced on his morning radio show that “after a lot of thought,” he’s returning as a judge for NBC‘s America’s Got Talent. The shock jock joined Talent for its seventh season 2011, but has admitted he struggled with the decision to return.
Viewers who missed Vanilla Ice Goes Amish on DIY, where it was the net’s number one primetime series in key demos, can catch a marathon airing on DIY sister network, HGTV. Pop icon/home renovator Rob Van Winkle, a.k.a. Vanilla Ice, can be seen picking up the lost art of hand craftsmanship in Amish country Thursday, November 21 from 7:30p-10p.
CNN anchors Don Lemon and Jake Tapper will take turns filling in for Erin Burnett on OutFront when the host goes on maternity leave in December. Instead of airing an 11p repeat of Burnett’s show, as CNN does now, the news net will have Lemon host a new program for three weeks.
Bravo has teamed with Kitchit, an online service connecting consumers with professional chefs, to promote Top Chef with Kitchet-created menus inspired by the cooking competition. From now through December 10, fans can follow @BravoTopChef on Twitter and answer questions. The winner gets a dinner party hosted by four former Top Chef contestants. Top Chef airs Wednesdays at 10p.
BET’s 106 & Park Tuesday night featured an interview with First Lady Michelle Obama. During the special one-hour edition focusing on the importance of education, former BET host Jeff Johnson moderated a discussion in front of an audience of NYC students. The music variety show airs weeknights at 6p.
“Snapped,” the Oxygen series that profiles seemingly everyday women accused of murder, is airing a two-part event, “Snapped” Jodi Arias. The special, featuring firsthand accounts and interviews with friends of the convicted murderer, airs Sunday, December 15 at 9p and Monday, December 16 at 10p.
Stand-up comedian Ron White will serve as host for country music celebration CMT Artists of the Year, airing live on Tuesday, December 3 at 8p.
MTV tacked 10 more episodes onto season four of Awkward, currently still in season three, bringing the count to 20. Season three of the net’s hit comedy closes in December.

Screenwriter Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) is adapting F. Scott Fitzgerald’s unfinished novel, The Last Tycoon, for HBO. Ray will also exec produce the Sony Pictures Television project.
Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade has a script commitment from Fox for a comedy based on his bestseller, A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball. The Sony Pictures Television project is based on Wade’s experience as the father of two sons.
Winners of the Casting Society of America Artios Awards include Jennifer Euston (Girls), Judy Henderson, Lisa Mae Fincannon and Craig Fincannon (Homeland), Carmen Cuba and Wittney Horton (Behind the Candelabra), Linda Lamontagne (Family Guy), Judy Blye Wilson (Young and Restless), Felicia Fasano (The Mindy Project) and Laray Mayfield (House of Cards). Awards were handed out November 18 in LA.

U.K.’s Channel 4 will offer “50 shades of gay” in upcoming dramas from Russell T. Davies (Queer as Folk). Eight-parter Cucumber focuses on a fortysomething character in crisis, while Banana, slated to air on youth channel E4, will feature younger characters.
CNN Films has acquired the U.S. broadcast rights to Documented, a film about the life of undocumented immigrant and journalist Jose Antonia Vargas. The show will premiere on CNN in the second quarter of 2014, after its theatrical distribution in the U.S.
ABC‘s Dancing with the Stars bounced back in a big way from last week’s series low 1.7 among A18-49, hitting 2.0/5 on Monday in the demo. Dancing continued its run as the most-watched entertainment show, growing 15 percent week to week in total viewers.
‘Tis the season to be jolly at holiday-friendly Hallmark. Saturday’s original movie premiere of The Christmas Ornament made the channel number one in cable and broadcast 8p-10p in HH (3.315 million), W18-49 (720,000) and W25-54 (819,000). Catch a Rising Star‘s Sunday premiere ranked as the number two cable program in its 8p-10p time slot among HH (3.3 rating). The holiday films boosted the net to number one on cable in primetime among W25-54 for the week of November 11-17.
Bravo‘s Real Housewives of Atlanta was number one in cable at 8p among A18-49 on Sunday, and beat every entertainment series on television in its time slot in W18-49 (2.6/7) and W18-34 (2.4/8). With nearly 3.7 million total viewers, the net reports it was the highest-rated episode of the season in all key demos.
The Challenger Disaster, the TV-movie starring William Hurt simulcast on Science Channel and Discovery Saturday night, averaged 730,000 viewers on Science and 1.2 million on Discovery. It was Science’s most-watched program of the year.
Fox News Channel‘s MediaBuzz with Howard Kurtz delivered an average 1,042,000 viewers, the most since its September launch. On Sunday, Kurtz’s former show, CNN‘s Reliable Sources, drew 281,000 viewers.
Destination America scored its best original series debut ever with Saturday’s debut of Railroad Alaska. The docu-series about life along a 650-mile stretch of rail delivered 530,000 P2+ and 354,000 HH. “We’re thrilled that the romance of the railroad has struck a chord with our viewers,” Marc Etkind, DA’s GM tells Cynopsis. “I know we’re all excited to see what the fascinating characters, especially the one-handed handyman, will do next!”
Estrella TV‘s annual Premios De La Radio on Thursday was the Hispanic net’s most-viewed program ever. At 10p, Estrella ranked as the number two Hispanic network in the U.S. with 940,000 Persons 2+ and 585,000 in A18-49.

A 2.9/8 average for CBS’s How I Met You Mother and 2 Broke Girls beat the 2.3/6 earned by NBC’s The Voice and Fox’s Almost Human in the 8p hour. NBC’s singing competition surged with live performances at 9, drawing 3.7/9 versus 2.5/6 for Fox drama Sleepy Hollow. The Voice continued its run at 10p with 3.4/9, followed by 1.9/5 for ABC’s Castle.

With football spillover complicating the sked, Fox won the 7p hour with 9.6/27, with NBC racking up 3.5/9 for pre-game programming. At 8p NBC took the top spot, averaging 7.0/18 for pre-game and game-on programming, versus 3.1/8 for Fox’s Almost Human. By 9p the NBC game had surged to 10.6/25, to top a 2.0 average for Fox comedies The Simpsons and Family Guy. At 10p football drew 10.1/26, followed by 1.4/4 for CBS’s The Mentalist.
