The Style Network picked up the makeover series Plastic Makes Perfect, a half-hour series that puts beauty myths about physical perfection to the test. The Style Network debuts the series this Saturday at 3p. IFC introduces a development slate of eight original projects targeting the network’s brand tagline: Always On. Slightly Off. Descriptions of the eight new shows include:
Discovery Channel is partnering with Film Garden Entertainment to produce a new one-hour series Hogs Wild (wt). The ten-episode series focuses on the growing national problem of free-roaming wild hogs that cause millions of dollars in damage to businesses, farms and homes each year. The series also examines this issue by following three animal removal companies located in Texas, Hawaii and Florida. The series is slated to debut in first quarter 2011. The Style Network said Niecy Nash, host of its makeover series Clean House will soon be leaving the show. The final four episodes featuring Nash as host will air starting tonight. Additionally on December 1, the network will air a Clean House marathon finishing with Nash’s final episode as host of the series. The Style Network is also inviting Nash’s fans to submit their good-bye wishes to her via the website www.mystyle.com/cleanhouse, via Twitter @mystyle or on facebook.com/cleanhouse. Select messages to Nash will appear on her final December 1 episode. During the final four episodes and the marathon, viewers will also be given clues as to which celebrity will be joining the show in early 2011. Veteran film reviewer and celebrity interviewer, Gene Shalit will leave his post on NBC’s Today as of this Thursday. Shalit originally joined Today in 1970 and has been a regular contributor for forty years. Shalit said through his public relations rep, “It’s enough already” and also said he would “pursue other activities” which encompass publishing, radio and commercials. Soap actor Ted King, who played Lorenzo/Luiz Alcazar and Jasper Jacks on ABC’s General Hospital from 2002-2007, is joining ABC’s daytime drama One Life to Live. King will first appear on the show on January 21. Casting Call: Doron Ofir Casting, True Entertainment and Logo are seeking cast members for the next run of The A-List in Los Angeles and Dallas. The docu-reality series is searching for elite gay guys who have high-powered careers, attend the best benefits and parties and whisk away to their beach homes on the weekends. Applicants living in Los Angeles and Dallas who are ready to share facets of their fabulous personal and professional lives are invited to apply at www.TheAListCasting.com . Interviews will be held with candidates in Hollywood and Dallas this month and next. ~ RATINGS ~
