NBC schedules season finales for many of its primetime series:
- For its comedies, 30 Rock will air a 60m episode commemorating its 100th episode on April 21 and the season finale airs May 5. Perfect Couples also ends its season on May 5 while Community and Outsourced conclude May 12. The Office and Parks and Recreation end their seasons May 19 with hour-long episodes.
- Season conclusion dates for NBC’s dramas include: Harry’s Law on April 4; Parenthood April 19; Chuck May 16; Law & Order: SVU May 19; and The Event on May 23.
- Reality show America’s Next Great Restaurant ends May 1 while Saturday Night Live airs its season finale on May 21 followed by Celebrity Apprentice May 22 and The Biggest Loser May 24.
A third season of Web Soup opens on March 30 at 8p on G4. The series, hosted by comedian Chris Hardwick, pulls together crazy and ridiculous viral videos along with a variety of blunders, slip-ups and comedy sketches. Web Soup is produced by Comcast Entertainment Studios, a unit of NBCUniversal.
Survival experts Cody Lundin and Dave Canterbury present ways to stay alive in a myriad of situations as a new season of Dual Survival on Discovery Channel premieres April 22 at 9p. The 12-episode series follows the pair as they creatively use ordinary objects to survive in the Rocky Mountains to the jungles of Thailand. Dual Survival is produced by Original Media for Discovery Channel.
Discovery Channel’s series Sons of Guns moves to a new time slot of 930p on Wednesdays beginning tonight. Four episodes remain in the current season with the season finale airing March 30 at 930p.
Kate Gosselin and her children will return on TLC when all-new episodes of Kate Plus 8 premiere April 4 at 10p. The new run opens with an hour-long episode showing Kate and her brood taking a 21-hour trek across the world to Australia. Kate Plus 8 is produced for TLC by Figure 8 Films.
On Sunday at 8p, VH1 aired the season two finale of Basketball Wives which posted a 1.5 rating among A18-49 and tallied 2.3 million total viewers. This season conclusion was the highest-rated episode for the series to date and also the highest-rated telecast for VH1 since the VH1 Hip Hop Honors in October, 2009. Directly after Basketball Wives, VH1 aired the sneak preview of new series, Love and Hip Hop which delivered a 1.3 A18-49 rating and 1.9 million total viewers. Love and Hip Hop officially premieres March 14 at 1030p.
Food Network says the premiere of Chopped All-Stars last Sunday at 9p has become the highest-rated and most-watched episode in the series’ history. The opening episode chalked up a 1.7 rating and 3.2 million viewers with A25-54 as well as 5.6 million total viewers.
Docu-series Too Fat for 15: Fighting Back debuted a sophomore season on The Style Network Monday at 8p attracting 353,000 total viewers and 115,000 among W18-49.
Oxygen Media launched new docu-series All About Aubrey Monday night which marks the network’s most-watched docu-series premiere in its history. The premiere episode drew in 724,000 total viewers; 557,000 A18-49; and 423,000 with W18-49.
London-based Target Entertainment acquired the international distribution rights to the drama series, Crownies with 22 60m episodes. The series, currently in production in Sydney is set inside the Department of Public Prosecution with its young, enthusiastic lawyers. Produced by Screentime Australia for ABC TV Australia, the series will be available at MIPTV.
Footprint Media Holdings LTD is debuting HIGHTV 3D, the 24/7 family entertainment channel on April 4 at the MIPTV opening cocktail. The channel makes available a combination of entertainment, lifestyle and original reality programs in full hi-def 3D. HIGHTV 3D is headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in Hong Kong, Paris, London and Singapore and houses more than 450 hours of native 3D programs, travel destinations, cooking series, animation, drama series, reality shows and Hollywood celebrities.

A drama series, Hobgoblin about con men and magicians battling Hitler and the Nazis during WWII is in early development stages for HBO. Michael Chabon (Wonder Boys) is behind the project along with his wife, writer Ayelet Waldman.
ABC has a new summer competition reality series in the works about the world of competitive karaoke competitions tentatively titled America’s Karaoke Challenge. Premiering in July, the series follows the annual Karaoke World Championships where American Idol stars such as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have performed. The series will start with regional competitions in four states with 8 to 12 finalists emerging who will work with coaches to perfect their performance. The show will tag three industry professionals as judges along with a host. The one male and one female winner will be crowned during the finals in Las Vegas. ABC’s Lincoln Square Productions will produce the series and six one-hour episodes have been ordered.
Emily VanCamp (Brothers & Sisters) was cast in ABC’s drama pilot Revenge. The plot is described as a modern-date retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo from a female point of view. VanCamp will play Emily, a mysterious woman who arrives in the Hamptons seeking revenge on those who destroyed her family. Mike Kelley is writing the script.
Former Twin Peaks cast member, Madchen Amick will headline NBC’s drama pilot S.I.L.A. from Stephen Gaghan (writer on Traffic). The project focuses on crime, law enforcement and politics in Los Angeles. Previously, Amick has had recurring roles on Damages, Gossip Girl and Californication.
British actress Natalie Dormer (The Tudors) will next appear in ABC’s pilot Poe, per THR. Warner Bros. Television and Lin Pictures are producing the pilot featuring Edgar Allan Poe (Christopher Egan), the world’s first detective.

Saturday A18-49 Analysis: Week to week, FOX held the same top ratings among A18-49 Saturday night at 1.8/6, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, FOX was #1 with two Cops episodes averaging a 1.8/6 followed by CBS’ NCAA Basketball match at 1.2/5. FOX attracted more viewers during 9p with AMW: America Fights Back at 1.9/6 and the second half of the NCAA Basketball game on CBS was next at 1.6/6. NBC’s Law & Order: SVU repeat topped at 10p with 1.3/4 while ABC’s movie and CBS’ 48 Hours Mystery encore tied for #2 at 1.0/3 each.

Sunday A18-49 Analysis: ABC had a successful Sunday night delivering a 2.7/7 with the A18-49 demo, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. ABC’s Sunday night favorite, America’s Funniest Home Videos won at 7p with 1.8/6 though in a close #2 was CBS’ 60 Minutes and the average of FOX’s reruns The Simpsons and American Dad tying at 1.7/5 apiece. At 8p, ABC beat all with the series premiere of Secret Millionaire at 3.4/9 and CBS’ The Amazing Race sped into second place at 2.7/7. Also this hour, NBC debuted new series America’s Next Great Restaurant at 1.6/4, ranking fourth overall and Univision opened a fifth season of Nuestra Belleza at 1.6/3, ranking fifth overall. ABC continued in the top spot through 9p with Desperate Housewives at 3.4/8 with CBS’ Undercover Boss and the average of FOX’s repeat sitcoms Family Guy and The Cleveland Show tied for second place at 2.7/7 each and the season launch of Celebrity Apprentice on NBC was a close third at 2.6/7.
