CYNTHIA TURNER’S
Cynopsis: Kids!

06/28/06

Good morning. It’s Wednesday, June 28, 2006 and this is your first early morning Kids! briefing.

The N will premiere its new series, Whistler (13 x 60 min) as a simulcast on the network and online at The Click, its new broadband media player, this Friday, June 30 at 9p.  Additionally, sneak peeks and Whistler Webisodes can be found at The N’s website.  Available online at the conclusion of each episode premiere on the network, the sneak peeks will offer viewers a preview of the next week’s episode.  The webisodes will feature original material and serve as a prequel to each episode.

Neopets.com, a unit of MTV Networks Kids and Family Group, has launched Neopets Mobile.  Developed and published In-Fusio, Neopets members who download the Neopets Mobile application onto their mobile phones and can then create and interact with the characters, stories and activities, just like the online version.  Neopets Mobile will eventually be rolled out worldwide in seven different languages following its North American debut through Cingular Wireless, the exclusive service carrier for the first three months the service is available.

Radio Disney has teamed up with mSpot to launch a mobile phone version of the radio channel.  mSpot Radio, an all-format mobile radio service, features upwards of 100 channels (e.g. music, news, sports, finance etc).  Radio Disney is available in the US through 50+ terrestrial stations, XM and Sirius satellite radio, digital cable (Music Choice), XM/DirecTV and online.

MARKETING/LICENSING

Marathon Media, the France-based animation producer, has named MGM Consumer Products as the exclusive North American licensing agent for its animated series Team Galaxy (52 x 30 min.).  Additionally, Marathon has appointed Bandai America Inc. as the master toy licensee for the K6-11 targeted property.  Set to premiere on Cartoon Network this fall 2006, Team Galaxy features a mix of CGI and 2D animation.  The story revolves around the adventures three Galaxy High students who are being trained as space marshals, and also find themselves defending the earth while still having to deal with the every day issues of teen life.  Additional licensees are being sought in categories including books, interactive games, apparel and accessories.

EXECUTIVE MOVES

Melanie Hall has been named as Director/Marketing, North America, Habbo, which is a unit of Sulake Corporation.  Hall will oversee marketing, cross promotions, advertising and branding for the teen targeted Habbo online community.  Additionally, she will also participate in the licensing for the brand.  Hall was President/Co-founder, ijane inc., a non-profit production company; where she produced/directed Face the Issue, an animated PSA campaign focusing on young adults and mental health issues, and animated interactive shorts focusing on the internet delivery of a Parent-Adolescent Conflict Training program.  Previously, Hall wrote/produced The Spot, the first original episodic series broadcast online, followed by Grapejam, and also toiled for AOL as well as iXL.
