Producing duo Jesse Ignjatovic and Evan Prager are reportedly close to signing on with FOX‘s American Idol, according to The Wrap. Under their production company Den of Thieves, the pair has plenty of experience creating big televised music events. Ignjatovic and Prager took over production of the MTV Movie Awards in 2012 and have also produced MTV’s Video Music Awards, VH1’s Divas concert and the CMT Music Awards. The duo will join Idol’s new showrunner, Per Blankens.

~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

TV Land‘s Hot in Cleveland is reuniting Carol Burnett and Tim Conway of The Carol Burnett Show. The duo turns up on tonight’s episode at 10p. In the story, Nick (Conway) has the hots for Victoria’s mother Penny (Burnett) instead of his ex-girlfriend Elka (Betty White).

RIVR Media, a go-to production company for the Scripps family of networks, is set launch two new series. The Willis Clan, premiering on GAC on Thursday, June 27 at 8p, follows parents Toby and Brenda Willis as they raise their 12 children on their remote farm in the hills of Tennessee. Catastrophe Inc., set to premiere on HGTV on Sunday, July 14 at 10a, follows crews helping homeowners get back up on their feet after something’s gone terribly wrong with their house. 

WSI, a division of The Weather Company, and Climate Control have announced a partnership to provide climate-related content to television weather forecasters nationwide. Under the deal, Climate Central will provide science content and analyses on weather-related climate trends, which will be distributed via WSI’s Max and Fusion products for broadcast meteorologists. Climate Central’s climate change content will be a feature of the basic subscription packages beginning in July 2013.

History.com has announced two new web series, based on popular shows and characters from Swamp People and Counting Cars on History. Swamp People: After the Hunt and Count’s Kustom’s After Hours will each run exclusively on History.com and History apps. Count’s Kustom’s After Hours delves deeper into the lives of Danny and the Count’s Kustom’s staff, after the shop doors close. Swamp People: After The Hunt follows the lives of the swampers after the 30-day gator hunting season ends.

Grace Phipps, who guest stars as Ben’s new love interest Megan on Baby Daddy, will participate in a live Twitter chat during the East Coast broadcast of the ABC Family series on Wednesday, June 26 at 8:30p. Fans should tweet Phipps at @grace_phipps and include the hashtag #BabyDaddyChat.

~ PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT NEWS ~

Starz is partnering with Sony Pictures Television to greenlight Outlander, an original series adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s international bestselling books. The network has ordered 16 episodes, which will begin filming in Scotland this fall. The series, which is being produced by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining and Supply Company and Left Bank Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television, is slated to premiere in 2014.

Edyson Entertainment Inc. has signed a first-look deal with UK, Toronto and LA-based media conglomerate, Content Media Corporation. Edyson will continue to source, develop, and produce properties with a special focus on scripted drama, long form and mini-series. In addition, the company will work closely with Content Media CEO John Schmidt and Television President Greg Phillips as the distributor continues to build its portfolio through exclusive collaborations with leading producers.

Primeridian Entertainment has announced that the company’s principal Arcadiy Golubovich and partner Tim O’Hair will produce and finance a television project about the postwar rocket and space race between the United States and the USSR. Acclaimed screenwriter Nicholas Meyer (Star Trek) will write the pilot and treatment for the show, which will span the collapse of Nazi Germany through the 1960s. The series has yet to be titled.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CARRIAGE & CLEARANCE ~

Beyond Distribution has closed deals with Travel Channel, HGTV and Weather Channel. Travel Channel has licensed BBQ Crawl, a road trip that follows a world champion BBQ competitor. The series, which premiered on Travel + Escape Canada, is produced by RTR Media Inc. The Weather Channel has secured the second season of Highway Thru Hell. Produced by Great Pacific Media Inc for Discovery Canada, the series follows a fearless heavy rescue team keeping the Coquihalla Highway open in all conditions. Love It or List It continues with HGTV, which recently signed up the fourth season, as designer and realtor battle it out to persuade homeowners to either love their home with a makeover or buy a new one. Big Coat Productions produces the series for W Network Canada.

Hallmark Channel is introducing new on-demand services for Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS, Cablevision’s Optimum TV, and Bright House Networks customers. Starting June 26, authenticated subscribers will have access to the network’s family-friendly content on Hallmark Channel’s TV Everywhere website (hallmarkchanneleverywhere.com), including Home & Family and Marie and a selection of Hallmark Channel original movies. Episodes of Hallmark Channel’s primetime series Cedar Cove will also be available two days after their premieres. The content is accessible at no additional cost to viewers.

~ RETURNING SERIES ~

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has ordered an additional 16 episodes of the Tyler Perry drama The Haves and the Have Nots, bringing the total season order to 32. The show’s current cycle will air through September 3 with the new episodes premiering in early 2014. It is produced for OWN by Tyler Perry Studios. 

HGTV has renewed Renovation Raiders for a second season. The series, featuring host and licensed contractor Amy Matthews, has had more than 6.1 million viewers tune in since its May 30 debut.

~ CASTING NEWS ~

Charlie and Max Carver, who played the Scavo twins on ABC‘s Desperate Housewives and appear on the MTV series Teen Wolf, have been cast in the HBO pilot The Leftovers. They’ll play identical twins Scott and Adam Frost.

A major production company is going viral and wants to showcase original videos on its premiere Youtube channel. The company plans on featuring the top 350 videos on the site, and the best three will be awarded a prize. First place will be awarded $15,000, second $10,000, and third $7,500. All entries must be original and exclusively created and owned by the entrant, and the entrant must have all rights necessary to post the video and submit the entry. At 8p, NBC’s NHL Stanley Cup Finals was #1 at 1.5/7, followed by Univision’s Sabado Gigante at 0.6/3. NBC’s NHL Stanley Cup Finals remained on top at 9p at 1.9/8, while Univision’s Sabado Gigante remained in second at 0.7/3. Jonathan Greenberger is returning to ABC News as Executive Broadcast Producer of This Week with George Stephanopoulos. Greenberger previously served as a senior producer on the show, helping to re-launch it when Stephanopoulos returned as its anchor during the pivotal election year.

Brian Levy has been promoted to Director, Direct Response Sales, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution. A nearly 10-year veteran of NBCUniversal, Levy last served as Manager, Direct Response Sales, a post he assumed in 2011.

Allied Integrated Marketing has hired Karen Abrams as Vice President, Marketing and Promotional Strategies. Abrams will work with broadcast and cable television networks and other content distributors to promote their shows to consumers. She previously served as a partner at MerryMedia, a boutique media promotions firm where she developed promotional campaigns for clients including ABC Television Network, CBS Television Distribution, The CW Television Network and Twentieth Television. 

CAA client NFGTV, the production company behind VH1’s Love and Hip Hop franchise, is rebranding as Eastern. Owned by Toby Barraud and Stefan Springman, the management team headed by COO/SVP Mala Chapple is promoting several executives. David DiGangi has been named Vice President, Programming. Gregg Lieberman and Joshua Asen have been upped to Directors of Development. Lisa LeeKing has been named Casting Director.
