The Ohio Supreme Court ruled against ESPN, and in favor of Ohio State University in an open records lawsuit filed by the media company, according to multiple reports. ESPN filed the lawsuit in July after Ohio State denied requests for documents about the 2011 scandal involving former football coach Jim Tressel, as well as Terrelle Pryor and the quarterback’s mentor, Ted Sarniak. Although the court initially ruled that Ohio State violated open record laws by stating that the requests were too broad or failing to release information due to the ongoing investigation, the court reversed itself and issued a unanimous ruling that the school had properly used the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
