Early next month, national music TV network, Fuse, part of The Madison Square Garden Company will premiere a new music docu-series titled Popped.  The series chronicles the time in an artist’s career considered the tipping point when they reach superstardom.  Popped premieres July 2 at 9p and each episode will spotlight a new artist and their big hit that pivoted them into icon status.  Episode one will highlight Lil Wayne with subsequent episodes featuring Usher and Britney Spears among others.  Popped will air as part of the network’s Artist Takeover Mondays, a full day of programming reserved for one artist including music videos, documentaries, live performances and more.  Popped is from President/EP Jenny Daly of T Group and EP Scott Firestone.

Pop-wellness network Veria Living premieres new series Good Food America with Nathan Lyon on July 7 at 9p.  Each week Chef Lyon will take a culinary journey to find the healthiest places to eat across America.

A&E Network set the premiere date for its four-hour, two-night miniseries Coma from Ridley and Tony Scott.  Coma, a modern-day retelling of the novel by Robin Cook and based on the film by Michael Crichton, will debut September 3 (Labor Day) and conclude on September 4 airing at 9p both nights.  The cast includes Lauren Ambrose, Steven Pasquale, Geena Davis, James Woods, Ellen Burstyn and Richard Dreyfuss.  Coma is produced by Sony Pictures Television for A&E.

Just before airing its first season finale last night, Discovery Channel renewed its Tuesday night series, The Devil’s Ride for a second season.  The series reveals the world of motorcycle clubs by following members of The Laffing Devils in San Diego.  The Devil’s Ride averaged 2 million viewers each week.  Bischoff Hervey Entertainment produces the series for Discovery Channel.

TLC’s longest running primetime series What Not To Wear starring fashion gurus Stacy London and Clinton Kelly has been renewed for a 10th season.  During each episode, London and Kelly ambush a fashion victim who is nominated by family and friends and takes them on a $5,000 shopping spree in New York City in exchange for their old wardrobe, resulting in a life-changing makeover.  The tenth season with 26 one-hour episodes is currently in production and will launch in January 2013.  What Not To Wear is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions for TLC.

Veteran film actress, Ann Rutherford died Monday in Beverly Hills at the age of 94.  Ms. Rutherford had memorable roles in some of Hollywood’s most iconic films including Gone with the Wind (1939) playing Scarlett O’Hara’s younger sister, Pride and Prejudice (1940), Adventures of Don Juan (1948) as well as the earlier Andy Hardy movie series playing Polly Benedict, Mickey Rooney’s girlfriend.  By the end of the 1940s, Ms. Rutherford retired from movie-making to raise a family.  She came out of retirement in the 1970s to appear in a few more movies and was also known for her role in the TV series The Bob Newhart Show playing Suzanne Pleshette’s mother.  Ms. Rutherford also turned down the role of Rose Calvert in James Cameron’s 1997 film Titanic which went to Gloria Stuart.  Over the years, she also made various appearances at Gone with the Wind anniversary events.  Ms. Rutherford’s death leaves just two other major players from Gone with the Wind still alive: Olivia De Havilland, 95 who played Melanie Wilkes, and Alicia Rhett, 97, who played Melanie’s sister, India.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will honor the life and career of Ann Rutherford on July 3 with back-to-back films over ten hours beginning at 6a with Of Human Hearts (1938).  The film tribute for Ms. Rutherford continues all day on July 3, ending with Gone with the Wind at 8p.
