Late Night veteran Amy Ozols, a writer with the show since its premiere in 2009, is following Jimmy Fallon over to The Tonight Show. Ozols has been named producer of the NBC show, when Fallon takes over for Jay Leno in February. “Amy Ozols has been with Jimmy since the very beginning of Late Night,” said Executive Producer Lorne Michaels in a statement. “She is brilliant. I think she’s the right choice to lead The Tonight Show into the future.” Ozols has written and produced some of the most popular Late Night parodies, including Real Housewives of Late Night and Game of Desks.
It’s been reported that Al Jazeera America has scheduled its launch for the week of August 24. Its lineup is slated to include Real Money at 7p, a nightly newsmagazine show at 9p, and America Tonight, which will delve into the key issues of the day.
Power-hungry Pope Alexander VI and his cunning children, Cesare and Lucrezia Borgia, sinned, sexed and scandalized their way through three seasons on The Borgias. The saga of one of history’s most infamous families concludes on Sunday, June 16at 10p, when the series’ final episode airs on Showtime.
ReelzChannel premieres new original series The Big Picture on Thursday, June 20 at 11p. Hosted by Alex Cambert and Lauren Sanchez the show takes a weekly look at Hollywood, pop culture and the world of entertainment — from the flashing bulbs of the red carpet to celebrity interviews.
Lifetime‘s new competition series, Supermarket Superstar, gives every day Americans the chance to prove they have the next great product consumers will crave. The show, from The Weinstein Company and All3Media America and hosted by Stacy Keibler, premieres Monday, July 22.
STARZ‘s Magic City is back for its season two premiere on Friday, June 14 at 9p. The drama continues as hotelier Ike Evans sits in jail under arrest for murder, while his wife Vera, son Stevie and the Miramar Playa team scramble to raise bail money and, in the process, discover the secret of Ike’s Miramar “silent” partners.
Oprah’s Master Class debuts two new episodes on OWN on Sunday, June 16. Master Class with Berry Gordy, Jr. airs at 9p, followed by Master Class with Diahann Carroll at 10p. Gordy, the man behind legendary artists like Diana Ross and the Supremes, The Jackson 5 and Gladys Knight and the Pips, and founder of Motown record label, discusses his love affair with Ross, spinning out #1 hits, and his childhood. Carroll talks about growing up in New York, the prejudice she endured, creating the role of Dominique Deveraux on Dynasty, and surviving breast cancer.
On the heels of National Geographic Channel‘s Inside Combat Rescue comes two new boots-on-the-ground war series. Battleground Afghanistan, a one-hour series looks inside the latest chapter of the Afghan conflict as seen by American Marines on the frontlines, premieres Monday, July 1 at 9p. Eyewitness War, a 30-minute series that follows the men and women of the armed forces through the chaos of battle with real-life, first-person footage, airs immediately following at 10 and 10:30p.

Lawrence Hill’s novel, The Book of Negroes, is being adapted into a miniseries by Conquering Lion Pictures, Out Of Africa Entertainment and leading independent studio Entertainment One. The novel depicts the journey of Aminata Diallo, a woman kidnapped by slave traders in West Africa and ultimately secures her freedom in England at the dawn of the 19th century. Production begins in South Africa this fall to air on CBC in Canada and BET in the US.
Me-TV Network has signed three new affiliation agreements with Gray Television stations. The markets include: KSNB-Lincoln, Nebraska (DMA #105), WSWG-Albany, Georgia (DMA #145) and WTVY-Dothan, Alabama (DMA #169). These new affiliates bring Me-TV to 150 markets. The network now clears 90% of the country.
Super Channel has expanded its multi-year licensing and programming distribution agreement with Starz Worldwide Distribution. The pact, along with the existing contract, makes Super Channel the exclusive English pay television home in Canada for Starz originals during the life of the series and their premium television runs, including Da Vinci’s Demons and the second season of Magic City. Each will make their Canadian premiere on June 14. Other TV series that part of the pact are The White Queen and Black Sails. VH1‘s Hit The Floor will also debut later this year.
WE tv has renewed docu-series Tamar & Vince for a second season and Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? for a fourth season. The second season of Tamar & Vince will give viewers a peek at the making of Tamar’s new album, Love and War, and document Tamar’s pregnancy and the arrival of the couple’s first child. On season four of Joan & Melissa, Joan will become a minister to marry a celebrity friend, while Melissa looks into adopting a child.
DIRECTV has picked up the suspense-drama Rogue from Entertainment One and Greenroom Entertainment. Production on the ten-episode second season is slated to begin in late summer 2013 and to air in 2014 on DIRECTV’s Audience.
History has announced new cast additions for season two of Vikings. Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games) will play Bjorn, the intelligent and bold warrior son of Ragnar Lothbrok. Linus Roache (Law & Order) will portray Ecbert, King of Wessex.

Linda Giambrone has been named Executive Vice President and Head of Production for Shine America. Giambrone, who last served as Senior Vice President and Head of Production with the company, will continue to oversee all unscripted production for the studio, including hit series MasterChef, The Biggest Loser, The Face and the upcoming MasterChef Junior on FOX.
Theo Kingma has been elected President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the 2013-2014 year. King previously held the office of Executive Secretary for 2 years and was a member of the Board of Directors for 4 years.
Whitney Holland has been named Vice President, Program Planning and Scheduling at ABC. Holland, who previously served as Vice President, Scheduling and Acquisitions at OWN, will be tasked with contributing to develop overall programming and scheduling analysis and strategy recommendations for the network to maximize viewership. In addition, she will oversee program planning and scheduling for original and acquired television content.
Spotlight Cinema Networks has announced three moves. Jerry Rakfeldt has been promoted from President to CEO. Michael Sakin, formerly SVP of advertising sales for Landmark Theatres, has been named President, Sales and Exhibitor Relations. Sakin will be responsible for all revenue generation and growing Spotlight’s distribution across the country. Christine DelGuidice-Kraemer, formerly Marketing Director at Screenvision, has been hired as Marketing Director.
Don Wachsmith has upped from Executive Vice President, Radio Sales to Chief Revenue Officer, Radio Sales, at AdLarge Media. Wachsmith joined AdLarge in 2011, with close to 20 years of advertising sales and radio experience.
LIN Media has appointed Kimberly Davis as Vice President, Human Resources. She succeeds Daniel Donohue, who is retiring, effective July 5. Davis, formerly Director, Human Resources Business Partner for Advanced Micro Devices, will be tasked with developing and executing employee initiatives that support the company’s business plan and strategy.
Talent Partners has added Kelly Williams to its management team in the newly-created role of Chief Talent Officer. Williams will be responsible for all traditional Human Resources efforts, with a focus on organizational development and matters of employment that impact the talent and clients for the company.
