Discovery Channel brings back survival expert/extreme adventurer Bear Grylls in seven new episodes of Man vs. Wild starting August 11 at 9p. In the continuation of the series’ fifth season, Grylls journeys to more remote locations such as Australia’s northern territory, the Canadian Rockies to a deserted island south of Papua New Guinea where he will demonstrate his survival skills with viewers. In one of the new episodes, Grylls takes along two fans of the show for the first time giving them a chance to experience extreme survival up close. Man vs. Wild is produced for Discovery Channel by Diverse Productions.

Discovery en Espanol introduces a new 10-episode reality series this fall titled Norte a Sur: Una Ruta, 5 Experiencias (North to South: One Route, 5 Experiences). The series premieres September 25, airing on Saturdays at 930p following five young American Latinos as they journey along the Pan-American Highway from Alaska to Argentina. Production is currently underway and the show has launched a new interactive website at www.norteasur5enruta.com where viewers can share the experiences of the five travelers. Discovery en Espanol produces the series which was developed by Hispanic marketing firm Dieste, Inc.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Oxygen is giving singer Aubrey O’Day her own reality show in The Aubrey O’Day Project. O’Day, a former lead vocalist with the band Danity Kane was discovered in the 2004 MTV reality series Making the Band. In her new Oxygen show, cameras will follow O’Day as she tries to resurrect her career within the music industry. Ish Entertainment is producing the Oxygen show which has not set a premiere date or the number of total episodes.

Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights) has been cast in CBS’ The Good Wife, playing a professional private eye named Blake who will be a counterpart to Kalinda at the Washington, D.C. firm that is merging with Lockhart & Gardner. Porter could appear in at least 10 episodes during The Good Wife’s second season.

Casting Call: Twentieth Television said MySpace Karaoke is teaming with Don’t Forget the Lyrics! as the musical game show launches in syndication on VH1 this fall. MySpace will be the official music platform and casting partner for the show. Interested contestants can audition for the show through the MySpace Don’t Forget the Lyrics! community page at www.myspace.com/dontforgetthelyrics . MySpace Karaoke will also be the official music engine that selects the music for the game show.

Saturday A18-49 Analysis:  FOX leveled a double whammy Saturday night, winning the A18-49 demo with a 1.3/6, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, FOX and back-to-back Cops episodes led with an average of 1.3/6 with ABC’s Wipeout rerun next at 1.0/4. FOX stayed on top through 9p with AMW: America Fights Back at 1.3/5 followed by a three-way tie between ABC’s Rookie Blue encore, CBS’ Crimetime Saturday repeat and UNIV’s weekly Sabado Gigante all at 0.6/2 each. CBS closed the night with a 48 Hours Mystery encore at 1.1/4 followed by NBC’s Law & Order: CI at 0.8/3.

CBS’ Big Brother ruled at 8p with a 2.3/8 and FOX’s repeat sitcoms The Simpsons and The Cleveland Show averaged a second place showing at 1.6/5. ~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

International corporate trade company, Active International elevated four executives: Karen Gabor becomes EVP/Chief Media Operations Officer; Karen Brambani takes on new responsibility as SVP/Integrated Media and Business Development; Steven Natko is now SVP/Director of Media Trade; and Liz Margolis was upped to SVP/Director of Media Operations. All four work with the company’s Fortune 500 clients by developing and implementing media buying solutions.

ReelzChannel announced three personnel additions:

  • Rob Silvershein was hired as Consultant/Out-of-Home Ad Sales based in Los Angeles. Rob will continue to serve as President/CEO of EarlyPhase Media, a consulting company developed to help startup and early phase media companies gain revenue.
  • Katie Medinger joins the network as an AE based in New York City where she will work with advertising agencies, media buyers and planners as well as clients.
  • Rosalie Drake was added as Director/Ad Sales for the Western Region where she will be based in Albuquerque to manage the ad revenue in the Western US.

UVPHACTORY (UVPH), a production company specializing in branding, stereoscopic 3D design, visual effects and more tapped Executive Producer Paul Schneider and Creative Director Michael Darmanin.

Digitas North America restructured its North American offices giving Tony Weisman, Global Client Lead and President of the Chicago office additional scope in charge of the Boston and Detroit offices. Joanne Zaiac, President of the New York and Stamford offices will expand her duties to include oversight of the Atlanta office. Both Tony and Joanne report to Colin Kinsella, President, Digitas North America. Additionally, the company announced further promotions as Barbara Goose is now Executive Director of Boston and Detroit and will join Colin Kinsella’s North America management team. She reports to Tony Weisman. Kenneth Parks as SVP/Managing Director of Stamford expands his responsibilities to include Atlanta, reporting to Joanne Zaiac. Lange Taylor was upped to Managing Director of the Atlanta office, reporting to Kenneth Parks.
