CBS and Warner Bros. Television are close to concluding a renewal deal for sitcom The Big Bang Theory over the next three seasons, cites Variety. The deal includes a total of 66 total episodes, 22 eps per season, at a license fee of around $4 million to $4.5 million per episode up from CBS’ present license fee of a tad more than $1 million per episode. The renewal pact will take the series through its seventh season. This Thursday, TLC is bringing back its Police Women series franchise for a fifth season with Police Women of Cincinnati at 9p. The eight-episode series follows four female police officers as they enforce the law in Ohio’s third largest city. RelativityREAL, LLC produces the series. Tr3s: MTV, Musica y Mas launches the US premiere of the Latin American novela Ninas Mal beginning next Monday at 7p with encore airings at 10p. Ninas Mal will air weeknights with 70 total episodes with English subtitles on the bilingual/bicultural network. The novela, a co-production of MTV Latin America and Sony Pictures also highlights 150+ songs during the season including the hit theme song Lolita by Mexican pop star Belinda. Monday’s Bowl Championship Series national championship game on ESPN has become the most-watched program in cable television history. The Auburn versus Oregon game averaged 27.3 million total viewers, per Nielsen. During its launch period of January 1-9, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network averaged a 0.55 rating and 505,000 total viewers in primetime. For these first days, OWN ranked 25th in primetime among ad-supported cable channels. Comparing OWN to Discovery Health Network, the channel it replaced, OWN increased total viewers by +49% in primetime and +56% in total day from the previous year. Sunday’s second season debut of Alaska State Troopers on National Geographic Channel at 9p notched the highest-rated returning series in the network’s history with a 0.87 rating among A25-54. The opening episode, airing twice at 9p and 12a also amassed 6.2 million total viewers. Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane debuted a fourth season on The Style Network last Sunday at 9p, tallying 414,000 total viewers and a 0.62 W18-49 rating. E!’s season three finale of Kendra airing on Sunday at 10p averaged 1.8 million total viewers. The concluding episode also posted a 2.56 rating among W18-34 and a 1.80 rating with W18-49. Shalom TV, the North American Jewish television cable network boosted its subscribers by another 10 million digital homes during 2010 reaching the 40 million total digital household subscriber mark. Shalom TV is watched in more than 275 communities nationwide. The free VOD network launched last year on Cox Communications in New Orleans; Time Warner Cable’s Texas systems in Corpus Christi, Laredo, El Paso, Rio Grande, Golden Triangle and San Antonio; Service Electric Cable TV in Allentown, PA; WOW! in Cleveland, Chicago, Columbus, OH, Evansville, IN; and GSI Cable throughout Alaska. ABC is readying a new comedy pilot from 20th Century Fox TV titled Don’t Trust the B*tch in Apartment 23. The plot centers on an innocent young woman who moves to New York City and ends up with a trouble-making, party-loving female roommate. Nahnatchka Khan and David Hemingson are on board to write and produce the project. The CW is working with Dr. Drew Pinsky on a new daily 30m show, Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers launching this fall. The network will air a new episode and a repeat episode back-to-back daily in the 3p hour. The program was developed from the nationally syndicated newsmagazine, Extra and is produced by Warner Bros.’ Telepictures Productions in Los Angeles. Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey, Senior EP on Extra created The CW show and will serve as EP along with Pinsky. The CW show will feature stories about people in crisis including those with relationship problems and addictions with a self-help bent. To keep it fresh and timely, the show will tape each week. Dr. Drew also has another new show, Dr. Drew Pinsky debuting on HLN this spring with Exec Producer Burt Dubrow, as well as shows on VH1 including Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, Sober House and Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew and a syndicated radio show titled Loveline. ~ RATINGS ~
