~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

The CW approved one from Anthony Zuiker and his Dare to Pass production company. Zuiker is the creator/executive producer for CBS’ CSI franchise. All four projects are in the script stage and will be produced through CBS Television Studios with Matt Weinberg serving as co-executive producer on all Dare to Pass projects. Descriptions of the CBS pilots include:

  • Detail – inspired by the real-life private security guru Kim-Maree Penn, co-founder of Los Angeles-based Signal 8 Security. Series will have procedural elements. Sarah Thorp is writing and will executive produce with Zuiker.
  • Desperado – an honest lawman attempts to oversee justice in a small town outside of San Antonio. Kyle Ward is penning the script and will be co-executive producer.
  • Treadstone – based on the secretive agency of spies that are central in Robert Ludlum’s novels including the Jason Bourne series. John Glenn is penning and executive producing with Zuiker, Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner of Captive Entertainment.

Pilot for The CW:

  • Spirit – originates from fantasy drama writer Jesse Alexander (Heroes, Lost) who brought this project to Zuiker. Plot centers on three young women at a start-up company and it is described as “CSI meets Paranormal Activity” and can be likened to series Charmed. Alexander executive produces with Zuiker.

Eliza Dushku will not appear in the leading role of TNT’s new pilot Bird Dog as a New York City cop who teams with her cop father. Dushku broke the news via her Facebook page saying it was a mutual and amicable parting. TNT has also confirmed Dushku will not star in the pilot.

Casting Call: A major television network is seeking career-driven people from all backgrounds for a new game show that will spotlight the differences between genders in the workplace. Teams of men and women will battle it out to compete for a grand prize. The show is looking for ambitious, creative and business savvy types from white collar to blue collar and more. If you or someone you know would be interested in this show opportunity, send an email to: [email protected] and include a brief description of your work experience, contact information, a recent photo of yourself and explain why you would be great on the show. Casting is currently underway and ends on January 14, 2011.
