A senior exec at Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network was let go for “financial issues and other performance problems.” Brian Lewis, exec vp of corporate communications for FNC, was escorted from his office two weeks ago, according the Hollywood Reporter. Lewis, a top adviser to FNC president Roger Ailes, had been with the net for 17 years.

The dispute over carriage fees that’s causing a CBS blackout for more than three million Time Warner Cable subscribers is taking a toll on the companies’ reputations. According to YouGov‘s BrandIndex survey, CBS scored minus-5, down from neutral the week after the blackout started; TWC sank from minus-7 to minus-10. “We know viewers are frustrated,” CBS said in a statement. “We are too… Our decline in perception is clearly tied to this difficult issue and should be temporary; we believe (TWC’s) is chronic.”

Responding to the Media Action Network for Asian Americans‘ demand that Fox reconsider material in the pilot for controversial sitcom Dads, the net’s chairman, Kevin Reilly and COO, Joe Earley sent a letter explaining their position. Admitting pilots are “rarely perfect,” and saying they understood the group’s concerns, the execs added, “Everyone involved with Dads is striving to create a series with humor that works on multiple levels and ‘earns’ its audaciousness. That said, we do recognize comedy is subjective, and we may not be able to please everyone, all the time.” Series premieres Tuesday, September 17 at 8p.

TiVo‘s new Roamio DVRs will allow subscribers to stream to iPhones and iPads in or out of the house, promises CEO Tom Rogers. “Wherever you roam your TiVo Roamio is there,” said Rogers. “In the next room, in the kitchen, in a hotel across the world – connecting you right to your living room recordings.” The basic Roamio will be able to record four shows at once and store up to 75 hours.

Netflix will be the exclusive U.S. subscription TV service for first-run films from The Weinstein Company starting in 2016. “The deal that we’ve just completed with Netflix is probably the biggest deal in the history of the Weinstein Company,” said Harvey Weinstein. “We are discussing ways to reinvent the pay TV experience so that the audience can get even more for their money.”

Measurement service Rentrak is buying iTVX, which analyzes response to products placed in programs and movies. “Combining Rentrak’s TV ratings from more than 25 million TVs and every movie screen in the world with iTVX analytics, we provide advertisers, broadcasters and content creators with the most precise measurement for any of their branded entertainment initiatives,” said iTVX’s CEO Frank Zazza.

Apprentice winner and Giuliana & Bill star Bill Rancic is tackling another reality show. Training Day will have Rancic train for dangerous jobs, like SWAT teams, to see if he has what it takes to perform at an expert’s level. Rancic’s partnered with Ridley Scott‘s Scott Free Non Fiction for the project.

While Elijah Wood said in June that his FX comedy Wilfred, now in season three, “can really only last so long,” Wood’s co-star Fiona Gubelmann reports that the sitcom about a man’s relationship with a dog in human form isn’t getting old for fans. “I get pictures tweeted at me of people dressed as Jenna and Wilfred for Halloween,” the actress tells Cynopsis. “Some of our fans have created beautiful Wilfred art. Last year a fan gave me a Jenna doll she made. It’s just incredible to be a part of something that has such an amazing fan base.” Wilfred airs Thursdays at 10p.

Dick Van Dyke was rescued from his burning car on LA’s 101 Freeway in Calabasas on Monday. The actor, 87, later shared of pic of the charred vehicle, tweeting, “Used Jag for sale REAL CHEAP!!”

Get the latest strategies for influencing Millennials across different media on September 18th at 1:30PM EST in the 90-min Cynopsis webinar “Reaching Millennials: New Ways to Activate Viewership.” Speakers from MTV, Turner Broadcasting‘s Young Adults, Pivot and Fitzgerald & Company will share smart, proven tactics that led to successful engagement with their audience including, apps, games, video, original content and promotions on digital and social media sites. For information on the webinar visit http://www.cynopsis.com/webinars/reaching-millennials.

~ RETURNING SERIES ~

When NBC‘s Community returns in early 2014, so will Rob Corddry as Alan Connor. Corddry last appeared on the sitcom’s season three finale.

DIY Network renewed Man Caves for a thirteenth season. The net is airing a special ep featuring a dressing room makeover for LIVE with Kelly and Michael co-host Michael Strahan on Friday, August 23 at 9p.

Tyler Perry sitcom For Better or Worse, moving from TBS to OWN for season three, premieres Wednesday, September 18 at 9p.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

FX is developing a comedy for D.L. Hughley, based on the stand-up comedian’s life. Hughley’s sitcom The Hughleys ran for four seasons on ABC and UPN.

Gigi Levangie (The Starter Wife) is taking her upcoming novel, Seven Deadlies, to MTV. She’ll co-write the project, about a high school student who has to juggle battling evil and getting good grades. The book will be published this fall.

~ CASTING NEWS ~

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will mark its 300th episode with a visit from CBS series alum Marg Helgenberger. Helgenberger, who left during season 12, will make her return during season 14, on Wednesday, October 23 at 10p.

CW midseason drama The 100 has tapped a General Hospital grad, Lindsey Morgan, to play a mechanical engineer named Raven.

Cassie Scerbo (Sharknado) will guest in season three of ABC Family‘s Baby Daddy. Show airs Wednesdays.

Houdini, the History miniseries slated to start production this fall, cast Kristen Connolly as the magician’s wife.

~ INTERNATIONAL HAPPENINGS ~

Chris Fountain has been fired from U.K. soap Coronation Street after ITV reviewed violent rap videos the actor posted on YouTube. Last week the net suspended Fountain, and after investigating the matter announced on Tuesday, “Chris Fountain’s contract with ITV has been terminated as a result of the unacceptable comments he made in a number of online clips.”

~ EMMY Q&As ~

FX’s edgy Louie earned six primetime Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series – a first for a basic cable show – for exec producer M. Blair Breard, along with Louis C.K., Tony Hernandez, Dave Becky and Vernon Chatman. (Breard – was also an EP with Dave Becky, Mike Berkowitz and Louis C.K. for Outstanding Variety Special nom Louis C.K.: Oh My God.) Breard tells Cynopsis that the nomination for the offbeat comedy about the curmudgeonly comedian, which debuts season four in 2014, came as a surprise.

How did you celebrate?
I was getting my car serviced at a place in Jersey, and I ran outside and jumped up and down on the sidewalk, and hugged all the strangers standing in line to have their oil changed.

Why were you surprised by the nomination?
It’s still not everyone’s cup of tea, and there are still some really big budget comedies out there that have a lot more to work with than we do. I wasn’t sure we’d ever break through and get recognized for the series as a whole.

How do you think winning an Emmy might impact the show?
I’m hoping it will get a wider audience.

What was your first job in television?
My background is in feature films, this is my first job in television! And given how small our budget was (and still is) in season one, the kind of material that Louis (C.K.) was writing, I certainly NEVER imagined we’d get this kind of recognition.

What’s been the biggest surprise of your career?
The biggest surprise is that an intelligent, edgy, low budget, late night comedy on TV would bring me such joy, validation and recognition. Working with Louis is the most rewarding experience.
