Bravo rolls out a new docu-series Bethenny Getting Married? showcasing Bethenny Frankel, star of The Real Housewives of New York City as she works toward simultaneously getting married and having a baby while juggling her emerging career as an author and natural foods chef. Bethenny Getting Married? launches on Bravo June 10 at 10p and is produced by Shed Media U.S.

MTV heads to downtown New York City with its new series Downtown Girls, premiering June 1 at 11p. The show follows five real-life girlfriends living and working in the city as they find themselves in situations that test their perspectives on life, romance and friendship.

This Sunday at 2p, MTV2 is premiering Funk Flex Full Throttle, a series about the world-famous radio and TV personality and hip-hop DJ. The series also shows off creations designed by Flex’s car customization shop. Various entertainers stop by the shop to chat with Flex including Juelz Santana, Fabolous, Mike Epps, Ludacris among others.

Also this Sunday, RFD-TV will debut a new cooking and gardening show called Southern Fresh at 430p. The series is set in North Carolina as hosts and business partners, Tim Haas and Jan Kirby, who are also lifelong natives of North Carolina, take viewers from garden to kitchen. Jan offers gardening advice while Tim prepares the featured harvested item using delicious recipes. Episodes of the show will tour various locales around North Carolina though the primary segments will be shot at Tim and Jan’s kitchen and garden in Linville Ridge close to Grandfather Mountain in the Western part of the state.

Starz Entertainment is bringing back a fifth season of the stand-up comedy series Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Stand-Up in October. Performances for the new episodes will be taped May 13-16 in front of a live audience at The Chicago Theatre featuring new host, comedian Sheryl Underwood and a line-up of rising and experience comedy stars such as Deon Cole, Sandra Bernhard, Jimmie “J.J.” Walker and Damon Williams among others. The series is produced in collaboration with Mojo Raid Entertainment, II LLC and Runteldat. Anchor Bay Entertainment holds the exclusive US distribution rights while Starz Media handles international sales.

To satisfy fans of its drama series True Blood before the show premieres June 13, HBO has launched a series of six original webisodes or “minisodes” airing exclusively on Yahoo! TV. Each three to five minute minisode was written by show creator Alan Ball and stars cast members from the HBO series. Each one will highlight past and future storylines shot on the set of the show. Following its debut on Yahoo! TV, the first episode will be available via HBO.com and True Blood’s Facebook page today and will appear on HBO this Sunday following a repeat episode of the series. HBO On Demand will also carry the episode starting Monday.

NBC Universal is serving up new programming across its many outlets in connection with its two company initiatives “Green is Universal” and “Healthy At NBCU.”

  • In November during NBCU’s fourth annual “Green Week,” NBC will air in primetime the new feature film Harmony showcasing for the first time on American TV, The Prince of Wales and his dedication to providing leadership and solutions for the global environmental crisis.
  • Both CNBC and MSNBC will introduce year-round green programming with MSNBC’s Morning Joe launching one-hour quarterly specials to discuss the politics of green and CNBC will expand its Carbon Challenge series with bi-weekly reports.
  • NBCU’s “Healthy Week” begins June 21 and will feature numerous brands highlighting the topics of nutrition and fitness. Examples include The Biggest Loser’s host Jillian Michaels offering health tips; a special healthy episode of Bravo’s Top Chef; talent vignettes from Oxygen’s Dance Your Ass Off; as well as Telemundo examining health issues facing US Hispanics in its news and entertainment programs.

Create TV, the commercial-free channel airing public television’s how-to shows and carried on more than 226 public television stations, introduces new seasons of a handful of programs in May and June:

  • The Endless Feast – Season two combines local farmers, foodies and star chefs as they explore the connection between the land and food. Produced by Film Garden Entertainment and presented and distributed by American Public Television.
  • For Your Home – In the program’s 26th season, do-it-yourself expert Vicki Payne demonstrates practical ideas and projects for the home and garden. Produced by Cutter Productions, presented by UNC-TV and distributed by American Public Television.
  • Woodsmith Shop – In season three, the series brings projects from the Woodsmith magazine to life with host Don Peschke, founding editor of Woodsmith magazine. Produced and presented by Iowa Public Television and distributed by NETA.
  • Create TV is produced and distributed by APT, WNET and WGBH Boston in association with NETA and PBS.

Sunday’s season two premiere of Animal Planet’s River Monsters at 10p brought in the best season premiere ever for the network among A18-49 and A25-54. The opening episode “Death Ray” tallied 971,000 viewers with A18-49 as well as 879,000 viewers among A25-54. The episode also attracted 1.7 million total viewers and posted a 0.9 rating among A18-49 and a 0.8 rating with A25-54. River Monsters, following extreme angler and biologist Jeremy Wade, airs each Sunday at 10p over the next six weeks and is produced by Icon Films.

Yesterday, truTV – jokingly described by Marc Juris as the “sham-wow of TV — holds more content than any other channel” – presented its own Upfront for the first time including a line-up of eight new series in development.  .

  • Vegas Repo – Series follows the process of repos in Las Vegas. From Arietis and Intrigue, producers of Operation Repo on truTv.
  • Disclosure – Bill Ryan and Kerry Cassidy examine secretive and undercover phenomena that remains hidden by the government, scientists and officials. From FishBowl Worldwide Media, a new production company from Vin Di Bona and Bruce Gersh.
  • Rogue Society (wt) – Rogue Society, with hidden cameras, has a mission to expose bigots, jerks and scam artists through pranks. Produced by Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment.
  • America’s Toughest Boss (wt) – Series follows Willie Degel, owner of Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse and dubbed the toughest boss. From RelativityREAL and Tom Forman, creator of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
  • The Naked Office – Series uses an unorthodox method of revealing group therapy to keep employees productive. Produced by Reveille.
  • Exposed! (wt) – From Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg’s Katalyst, this new series is an edgy, disruptive comedy using unsuspecting people involved in a unique social experiment.
  • Limo Bob – Series follows the owner of the biggest, most outrageous fleet of limos in Chicago. From Brainbox Entertainment.
  • Ma’s Roadhouse (wt) – Series set in a unique Texas saloon that is a combo motorcycle shop and tattoo parlor owned by Rick Fairless, his mom, his wife and their kids. Produced by AMS Pictures.

truTV announced it is bringing back 13 series in 2010 including renewals for Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura from A. Smith & Co. Productions and Braverman/Bloom Co.; Full Throttle Saloon from A. ~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

Liberman Broadcasting, Inc. (LBI Media) made an affiliate agreement with Communications Corporation of America (CCA) to have its Hispanic network, Estrella TV air on KPEJ-TV in Odessa-Midland, TX. Odessa-Midland is the 40th largest Hispanic TV market in the US with nearly 55,580 Latino households. Following this new affiliation deal, Estrella TV now reaches more than 75% of the US Hispanic TV households across 30 markets.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

We tv and Wedding Central, presenters of wedding-themed programming and bridal experiences, are partnering with five wedding experts: cake designer Ron Ben-Israel; gown designer Mark Ingram; invitation innovator “Ceci”; event planner David Tutera; and event stylist Diann Valentine to offer advice to viewers on WE tv and Wedding Central. The wedding experts will appear on-air and online in a series of custom vignettes. In addition, the Tucson-based The Wedding Report, Inc., a research company that tracks and forecasts weddings, spending and consumer trends for the wedding industry, has been transformed as of yesterday to become as WE tv Networks Wedding Report. Research will emanate from www.theweddingreport.com and WE tv and Wedding Central will also have access to customized reports.

Golf Channel tapped Terry Gannon to join the network’s live tournament coverage team for the PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour. A veteran broadcaster for more than 20 years, Gannon signed his deal with Golf Channel through 2013. Gannon will share play-by-play duties starting with the network’s LPGA Championship on June 24 where he will work with Hall-of-Famer Judy Rankin. Furthermore, Gannon will be paired with Nick Faldo for his first PGA TOUR at the AT&T National over the July 4 holiday weekend.

FOX okayed a new reality pilot called Panic Attack where participants will attempt to conquer their greatest fears. Two married psychotherapists and motivational speakers, Nik and Eva Speakman will help contestants face such things as heights, snakes and tight places. The duo hosts the UK series A Life Coach Less Ordinary. Arthur Smith and Kent Weed of A Smith & Co. Productions, behind other FOX series as Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares are producing Panic Attack.

Micheal Ealy (Sleeper Cell) will appear on Showtime’s Californication in five episodes next season, per THR. Ealy will play a love interest for Natascha McElhone.

Casting Call: CMT announced it is casting for a new reality dance show where amateur dancers are preferred and can win $10,000. Those who enjoy dancing like their favorite celebrities on music videos, movies and TV should sign up for an audition by sending an email to [email protected]. Interested participants can also submit a homemade video of you and your friends dancing like celebrities. 

Correction: Syfy’s upcoming new series Haven is produced by E1 Entertainment in association with Piller, Segan and Shepherd and will premiere on the network July 9 at 10p and on Canada’s Showcase July 12 at 10p.

Saturday A18-49 Analysis: FOX racked up a win Saturday night at 1.6/6 with the A18-49 demo, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. FOX was in control at 8p with double Cops episodes averaging a 1.6/6 followed by ABC’s movie, Norbit at 0.7/2. FOX remained in the lead through 9p with AMW: America Fights Back at 1.6/5 while ABC’s movie and UNIV’s weekly Sabado Gigante tied for second place at 0.9/3 each. Then at 10p, CBS’ 48 Hours Mystery and NBC’s Law & Order: SVU repeat shared #1 at 1.2/4 apiece and UNIV’s Sabado Gigante was #2 again with 1.0/3.

Monday  A18-49 Analysis: FOX brought down the house Monday night winning with a 3.5/10 A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, FOX and House topped with a 4.2/12 though ABC’s Dancing with the Stars was a step behind with 4.1/11. ABC did win during 9p with the last half-hour of Dancing with the Stars and its newest comedy Romantically Challenged by averaging a 3.8/10 while encores of CBS’ comedies Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory averaged a 3.3/8 in second place. In the 10p hour, ABC’s Castle repeat won with 1.9/6 followed closely by CBS’ CSI: Miami rerun at 1.8/5.

Nancy Dubuc was named President/GM of Lifetime Networks, effective May 1. Nancy will further continue in her current role as President/GM of History brands. In this new role, she will have oversight for the Lifetime and History brands’ strategic planning, programming, consumer marketing, publicity and brand enhancement. Nancy will report to Abbe Raven, President/CEO, AETN.

Canoe Ventures elevated Dana Runnells to VP/Marketing and Communications. Dana will be in charge of developing and supervising the company’s integrated marketing initiatives on behalf of business strategies in addition to managing the company’s marketing and communications team.

Television distribution veteran, Janice Arouh will join Entertainment Studios Networks as President/Domestic Distribution and Marketing, effective May 10.

iN DEMAND appointed John Vartanian to the newly-created position of Chief Technology Officer to oversee the company’s technology, broadcast operations, VOD and PPV product management. John will additionally manage new product launches. He reports to Robert G. Benya, President/CEO, iN DEMAND L.L.C.
