~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Heading down to the swamp lands of Southern Louisiana, A&E Network presents the new original real-life series Cajun Justice, premiering June 7 at 10p.  The series follows the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office located in a region where the sheriff is treated like a king, voodoo is commonplace and no police call is routine.  Cajun Justice is produced for A&E Network by MAK Pictures.

Next month, Nat Geo WILD opens a new six-episode series Fish Tank Kings on May 12 at 10p.  This new series follows the Florida-based aquarium specialists at Living Color as they use their specialized skills and creativity to build massive fish tanks in a movie star’s home in Beverly Hills to a rock star’s mansion in Miami.  Fish Tank Kings is produced by Sharp Entertainment for the Nat Geo WILD.

On the heels of its second season launch, HBO handed a third season renewal to its drama Game of Thrones.  For its second season opener on April 1, Game of Thrones delivered 3.9 million viewers and then subsequently retained 97% of that audience at 3.8 million for the second episode that aired this past Sunday.

Summer premiere dates were set for two of Showtime’s returning series: Web Therapy is back with a second season July 2 at 11p and a third season of The Real L Word debuts July 12 at 10p.  Web Therapy is created by Lisa Kudrow, Don Roos and Dan Bucatinsky for Is or Isn’t Entertainment.  The Real L Word is produced by Magical Elves.

The previously announced new series My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding will debut on TLC April 29 at 10p.  The eight-episode series will take an insider look at the tight-knit, secretive world of the estimated one million gypsies living in America and their over-the-top wedding celebrations.  The series is produced for TLC by Firecracker Films.

FX’s season three finale of animated comedy series Archer drew in 2.1 million total viewers as well as 1.7 with A18-49 and 1.1 million among A18-34, making it the most-watched telecast ever for the series.  Recently, FX ordered 13 episodes for the fourth season of Archer produced by FX Productions.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CARRIAGE & CLEARANCE ~

As of yesterday, MLB Network has launched MLB Network Strike Zone, a new channel that offers a high-speed tour of Major League Baseball on Tuesday and Friday nights during regular season.  In tandem when live game telecasts air on MLB Network, the MLB Network Strike Zone will bring fans to every game in the league and offer timely highlights, live look-ins and updates in a commercial-free environment.  MLB Network Strike Zone launched on Bright House Networks, DIRECTV, DISH Network and Time Warner Cable yesterday at 7p.

Coming out of MIPTV 2012, Los Angeles-based Gaumont International Television (GIT) has sold the drama series Hannibal to ProSiebenSat.1 Group in an exclusive free-TV rights deal.  The 13-episode one-hour series will be available to ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s German-speaking and Scandinavian TV stations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark from 2013.  Hannibal is produced by GIT and will air in the US on NBC.

Hispanic television network, Estrella TV, owned by Liberman Broadcasting, Inc. has a roster of new affiliates and station renewals.  New affiliates include WANN/Atlanta and KOCY/Oklahoma City.  Renewing affiliates are KXAP/Tulsa, KNRC/Reno and KRET/Palm Springs.

CBS Corporation completed a definitive deal to sell its five owned radio stations in West Palm Beach for $50 million to Palm Beach Broadcasting LLC.  The buyer will retain three of the radio stations it is purchasing from CBS and to comply with current FCC ownership rules, Palm Beach Broadcasting LLC will acquire the rights to sell the other two stations to third parties.  The deal is pending customary conditions and regulations.
