Celebrity fashion guru June Ambrose, stylist and designer for such stars as Sean Combs, Alicia Keys, Kelly Ripa, Kim Cattrall among others is getting her own show on VH1.  The new half-hour docu-series, The June Ambrose Project (wt) is slated to premiere early next year.  In each episode, Ambrose and her cadre of assistants will makeover aspiring to established celebrities, all who would like to receive an updated look and brand.  The docu-series is produced by Ish Entertainment.

Nat Geo WILD is bringing back a third season of Swamp Men beginning October 10 at 10p.  The upcoming season follows Brian Zepeda, the new park director of the Everglades’ Big Cypress Swamp, where more than 1,600 animals roam wild and the park is operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.  Zepeda and his new team take on patrolling the land and relocating and rescuing animals.  Swamp Men is produced for Nat Geo WILD by Spectrum Productions. 

A third season of truTV’s series Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura makes a comeback on the network’s schedule in 2012.  The new season, with eight episodes, welcomes two new “conspiracy busters” to Ventura’s team: Jesse’s son Tyrel Ventura and Sean Stone, son of filmmaker Oliver Stone.  Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura is produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions.

Discovery Communications’ new all-HD network, Velocity targeting upscale men is set to launch October 4 at 7p in more than 40 million homes, a channel spot that is currently housing the HD Theater cable network.  Velocity presents its fourth quarter lineup of primetime programming including more than 140 original hours in the genres of travel, leisure, automotive, adventures and sports:

  • Extreme Fishing – Host Robson Green searches for the most exotic sea creatures located in the Amazon River to the Indian Ocean.  Airs Mondays at 9p.
  • Motorweek – Award-winning show with 30 seasons to its credit is hosted by auto expert John Davis.  The show continues to road test vehicles, relay auto trends and auto industry news.  Airs Tuesdays at 8p; a sneak preview airs tonight.
  • American Icon with Chip Foose – This show looks at muscle cars and how they have become the most prized collector car today.  Airs Tuesdays at 9p and 930p.
  • Chasing Classic Cars: Season 4 – An inside look into restoration expert Wayne Carini’s goal to find and restore rare and exotic cars.  Airs Tuesdays at 10p and 1030p.
  • NFL Single Coverage – Half-hour show looks at key individual match-ups inside the sport.  Airs Wednesdays at 8p; a sneak preview airs tomorrow night.
  • Greatest NFL Rivalries – Each episode relates the story of two franchises and their storied season after season rivalry.  Airs Wednesdays at 830p; a sneak preview airs tomorrow night.
  • Tech Toys – Show travels the world looking for the latest trends and exclusive gear for guys.  Airs Wednesdays at 9p.
  • What’s My Car Worth: Season 3 – Show journeys to collector car garages around the US with expert Keith Martin and host Lorraine McKiniry.  Airs Wednesdays at 10p and 1030p; a sneak preview airs September 28.
  • Cafe Racer: Season 2 – Host and motorcycle authority Mike Seate reveals the history, development and global following of the world’s most exclusive bike, the Café Racer.  Airs Thursdays at 8p.
  • Mecum Auto Auctions – Auction guru Dana Mecum calls the shots at a collector car auction in this live-broadcast series.  Airs Saturdays at 8p.
  • Inside West Coast Customs: Season 2 – Series visits one of the best car customizing businesses, West Coast Customs run by founder Ryan Friedlinghaus and his team.  Airs Sundays at 8p.

Sunday’s annual 63RD Emmy Awards live broadcast on FOX tallied 12.4 million total viewers which was a decline of -8% versus last year’s live broadcast on NBC.  Though among A18-49, Sunday’s awards show saw an increase of +2% and with A18-34, the show delivered its largest audience in four years.  Furthermore, E!’s Live from the Red Carpet: The 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic from 6-8p drew in 1.43 million total viewers which was an uptick by +3% over last year.  E!’s show became the most-watched Primetime Emmy’s Live from the Red Carpet show in five years and the fourth most-watched since 1995.

WNET-TV, the PBS broadcaster in New York asked Fremantle Corp to represent the international sales for WNET’s documentary miniseries Women, War & Peace.  The four-part series explores the roles of women in peace and conflict featuring narrators Matt Damon, Tilda Swinton, Geena Davis and Alfre Woodard.  The series is a co-production of THIRTEEN and Fork Films.


A development deal was forged between Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment and New Franchise Media to adapt the novel, The Eleventh Commandment by Jeffrey Archer.  The plot is described as a CIA thriller. 

Shaftesbury, in association with Astral’s The Movie Network and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central is moving forward with a second season of half-hour comedy series Good Dog from Ken Finkleman who serves as writer and director.  The second season with 10 episodes welcomes new co-stars Samantha Bee (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and Lolita Davidovich (The L Word).  Production is currently underway in Toronto until October and the new season debuts on HBO Canada in 2012.

Friday A18-49 Analysis:  Univision finished off the work week in first place Friday at 1.9/6 A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen.   At 8p, Univision commanded attention for Teresa with a 2.1/8 followed by a tie for second place between CBS’ 48 Hours Mystery and FOX’s Kitchen Nightmares repeat at 1.0/4 each.  Univision stayed put at #1 through 9p with La Fuerza del Destino at 1.9/6 with NBC’s Dateline next at 1.4/5.  NBC then nudged into the top spot at 10p with the second hour of Dateline at 1.7/5 while Univision’s La Rosa de Guadalupe was just a skosh behind at 1.6/5.

As of this Friday, NBC News’ Lester Holt will begin a new assignment as Principal Anchor of Dateline NBC.  Holt will anchor the newsmagazine program in addition to reporting as a correspondent for NBC News.  He also serves as weekend anchor for NBC Nightly News and co-anchor of the weekend Today edition as well as fill-in anchor and correspondent for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and TODAY.  Other NBC News’ correspondents joining Holt on Dateline include Chris Hansen, Hoda Kotb, Josh Mankiewicz, Keith Morrison and Dennis Murphy. Dateline opens its 20th season this Friday at 9p.

ION Media Networks appointed Steve Sternberg as SVP/Sales Research.  In this newly-created role, Steve and his team will be in charge of developing and executing sales research presentations and audience analysis on behalf of the company’s sales efforts and more.  Steve will be based in the New York office and will report to Stephen Appel, President/Sales, ION Media Networks. 

Steve Hendry was elevated to the position as SEVP/Television Operations at MGM.  Previously, Steve was SEVP/Finance for MGM for more than 13 years.  He will now manage the fiscal operations and business planning for the MGM Television Group and Digital.  Steve will dually report to Roma Khanna, MGM’s President/Television Group and Digital and to Ken Schapiro, MGM COO. 

Jeff Wynne was upped to VP/Sales with Telemundo 52 – KVEA in the Los Angeles market.  Jeff will oversee and spearhead the management and business development initiatives of the station’s sales team with a goal to expand the station’s growth and revenues.  Jeff reports to Jose Cancela, President/GM.

Comcast Spotlight, the advertising sales arm of Comcast Cable tagged Tim Corken as GM in the state of Oregon.  Tim will head national, regional and local zone advertising sales in the Portland and Eugene market among other duties.

Michael Engleman advances to EVP/Marketing and Global Brand Strategy for Syfy and Chiller.  In his new role, Michael will supervise all marketing efforts for Syfy and Chiller encompassing brand and consumer activities as well as sales marketing efforts.  Michael has been with Syfy since March 2008.

Hollywood Suite offered new positions to its senior management staff:  Ellen Baine to VP/Programming; Jeremy McCarthy to Director/Business Development; and Kerry Connelly to Director/Marketing.  The company further named Erich Neher as Program Manager; Ross Finkelstein as Program Coordinator; and Sean O’Neill as Producer/Editor.  Hollywood Suite has four new hi-def channels for the True Movie Lover is launching throughout Canada this November.
