for More Information.PBS stations nationwide are set to debut new cooking series, Martha Stewart’s Cooking School the weekend of October 6 and 7 (check local listings). The half-hour weekly show will offer home cooks a culinary master class with the opening episode spotlighting the egg. The series is a co-production of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in association with WETA.
Sunday’s third season premiere of Mira Quien Baila! (Look Who’s Dancing!) on Univision reached close to 7.6 million total viewers that watched all or part of the three-hour show. The premiere, airing from 8p-11p delivered an average audience of 3.6 million total viewers.
The Dr. Oz Show, hosted by Mehmet Oz, M.D. launched its fourth season in national syndication beginning yesterday. Highlights during this opening week include Dr. Oz on Wednesday chatting with First Lady Michelle Obama for the first time about her health concerns regarding her family and exclusively sharing two new health issues pertaining to her Let’s Move! initiative. The Dr. Oz Show is cleared in more than 99% of the US and is co-produced by Harpo Productions and Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and is distributed by SPT.
Animal Planet has renewed Call of the Wildman for a second season comprised of 20 half-hour episodes for 2013. Sharp Entertainment produces for Animal Planet.
Also renewed for a new season is Rob Dyrdek’s series Ridiculousness for MTV. The network handed the Dickhouse-produced show an expanded 20-episode third season.
A seventh season is on tap for Blog Cabin at DIY Network. Blog Cabin is the interactive series that has online users vote on the design features for a vacation getaway that they could win. The series will be highlighted on six special episodes of other DIY Network shows: Mega Dens, Bath Crashers, Yard Crashers, House Crashers, Kitchen Crashers and Desperate Landscapes. RIVR Media will produce the series’ one-hour special that will showcase the transformation.
TV Land is bringing back the classic sitcom The Cosby Show to primetime. Beginning yesterday, TV Land now airs the Bill Cosby-starring show in a one-hour block weeknights from 8p-9p. The Cosby Show will also air two weekend marathons this Saturday from 5p-9p and also on Sunday from 930a-230p.

Miniseries Titanic: Blood and Steel from De Angelis Group, with 12 one-hour episodes was picked up in the US by Starz Entertainment’s ENCORE as the result of a new licensing deal made between Tandem Communications and Lionsgate. To date, Tandem Communications has sold the miniseries in 50 territories worldwide.
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. is making full episodes of its programming available for the first time on Hulu and Hulu Plus. Other MSLO short-form video content will be distributed via The AOL On Network reaching its 52.9 million viewers. The new content deal will include MSLO’s 15,000 how-to videos featuring Martha Stewart, Chef Emeril Lagasse and Lucinda Scala Quinn, star of the Mad Hungry TV series and Executive Editorial Director of Food and Entertaining at MSLO. In addition, MSLO is working with Fullscreen, Inc. to help optimize and manage its video content on YouTube.
The Me-TV Network secured an affiliation deal with WBIR/Knoxville owned by Gannett Company. The TV network featuring classic TV shows will launch on WBIR this fall. The Me-TV Network is now cleared in more than 83% of the US on 136 affiliates.
Rive Gauche Television acquired the crime series Evil Twins produced by Sirens Media. The six-episode one-hour series airs on Investigation Discovery in the US.

Travel Channel is moving forward with production on a trio of new original unscripted series. Edge of America with six half-hour episodes follows entertainment journalist Geoff Edgers as he discovers the many ways Americans have fun. Magilla Productions is behind the project. Series #2 is Feed the Beast with six half-hour episodes watches as host Mikey Roe checks out the nightlife and late-night eateries in a different major city each week. Sharp Entertainment is producing. The third series is under the working title of Kevin Michael Connolly Project from Crazy Legs Productions. This series has author, photographer and self-styled thrill seeker, Connolly (who was born without legs) pushing himself to the limit with various activities such as rock climbing, skiing, hiking and more.
Jack Osbourne will serve as executive producer on a new 16-episode series for Nat Geo WILD titled Alpha Dogs. The half-hour series follows the training behind an elite force of K-9s dedicated to serving our country with police departments, the Secret Service and each branch of the military. Rob Worsoff will also executive produce along with Osbourne as their Schweet Entertainment, LLC banner produces.
Just before the premiere of its 38th season, NBC’s Saturday Night Live added three newcomers to its cast roster. Aidy Bryant, Tim Robinson and Cecily Strong will become the new featured players. The threesome all hail from the Chicago improve scene including Second City which launched the careers of past SNL cast members John Belushi and Bill Murray.

Friday A18-49 Analysis: Univision held onto its Friday night winning streak among A18-49 at 1.5/5, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, while most of the other broadcast networks aired the Stand Up to Cancer special (with no ratings data available), Univision won this hour with Por Ella Soy Eva at 1.3/5 while The CW’s America’s Next Top Model was next at 0.6/2. Univision remained in the lead during 9p with Abismo de Pasion at 1.7/6 and ABC’s 20/20 repeat was #2 at 1.2/4. Univision polished off the final win of the night as Amor Bravio delivered a 1.4/5 at 10p followed closely by Telemundo with its Rumbo Mundial: Costa Rica vs. Mexico match at 1.3/5.

Telemundo Media tapped Chris McDonnell as President/GM for Telemundo Chicago WSNS. Chris will head the strategic and operations for the stations as well as oversee the station’s operations including news, sales, promotion, engineering, finance, human resources and community relations and more. Chris reports to Manuel Abud, President, Telemundo Station Group who made the announcement.
Screenvision added Jim Tricarico as Chief Revenue Office. Jim joins Screenvision after serving close to thirty years as EVP/Sales and Marketing at Nickelodeon Television. In his new position, Jim will oversee all revenue generation from national and regional sales of the company’s cinema advertising efforts. Suzanne La Forgia, SVP/National Sales will now report to Jim.
Effective immediately, Sundance Channel named Claudia Gorelick as SVP/Digital Media and Business Strategy. Claudia is in charge of development, distribution and partnership for the network’s digital content, its products and initiatives among other duties. Based in New York, Claudia reports to Sarah Barnett, GM, Sundance Channel. Before joining Sundance Channel, Claudia was with MTV Networks’ Logo as VP/Strategy and Operations.
Entertainment marketing agency BigSmack hired Matt Hall as Creative Director where he joins after working on projects for NBC Sports, Discovery Networks and Microsoft. At Big Smack, Matt will work with Chief Creative Andy Hann and Head/Marketing Andrew Kobliska.
