A new original comedy panel show, Would You Rather? with Graham Norton debuts November 5 at 11p on BBC America as part of the network’s Ministry of Laughs comedy block and following The Graham Norton Show at 10p.  During each weekly episode, celebrities and comedians are asked to think about and discuss ridiculous situations and moral conundrums such as: would you rather eat dog food for a year or get shot in the knee? or would you rather permanently lose your thumbs or a cousin? Following a hilarious and honest debate, the panelists must decide what they would rather do and Graham picks his favorite response.  Filming Would You Rather? with Graham Norton is currently underway in New York City in front of a live studio audience.  Initial celebrity panelists include Whoopi Goldberg, Cyndi Lauper, Stanley Tucci, Alan Cumming, Scott Adsit and Judah Friedlander and the complete lineup of panelists will be announced yet this week.

Whalley-Abbey Media produces the series.

ZenithOptimedia updated its global ad expenditure forecast saying growth is expected to jump to +3.6% in 2011 despite the continued economic tumult facing the world markets. CYN‘s MIPCOM 2011Murphy’s Law:  Jet lag is a funny thing. No, not “LOL” funny, just odd funny.  My first night here, I slept 12 hours and boy was I happy!  Woke up Sunday morning ready to jump into MIPCOM.  And then Jet Lag met Murphy’s Law and Sunday night I didn’t sleep a wink.  Seriously, not even 5 minutes.  What the heck?  And for absolutely no good reason — I was in bed at a reasonable hour, around 11, turned off all the lights, and lay there until 545AM Monday morning.  No dreaming, no snoring, no drooling.  Just checking the clock every hour or so and trying to turn off my brain.  No go. As the dawn was breaking, I got up, did some work, got ready to head to my first press conference of the day.  While there, it’s now 9am, I’m checking my blackberry to make sure the editions are going out without a problem (9am in Cannes is 3am back home, I say this because the math always challenges me!).  And …. 9:05 ….. and 9:10 ….. and 9:20 …. nothing.  Someone told me they received their edition of Cynopsis, so now I suspected it was me.  And yes, as it turns out, after running back to the apartment after the press conference, come to find out our blackberry server is down.  That means no more emails on my handy dandy device until the service is working again.  It’s now 21-1/2 hour hours later as I’m writing this and preparing to send out Cynopsis and still no server.  As much as this made for a trying day (and promises for more fun again today!) at least it was my own private little s.n.a.f.u.  Nobody had to know I was sleep and blackberry-challenged (well they do now!).  Unlike a distributor friend of mine who showed up at the Palaise this morning, bright eyed and ready to do some business, only to look down and find he had on two different shoes.  Now that’s the recipe for a long day, bless his heart.  And by the way, if you really need to get me today, email me at cynezine@aol.com.

Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) selected digital media services company, Avail-TVN to provide AnyView, the multi-platform video service for LIME, its Caribbean subsidiary.  AnyView will launch commercially in Jamaica and Barbados in fourth quarter with further expansion throughout the Caribbean to follow in 2012.

Reports are circulating that the former FOX comedy Arrested Development might get a reprisal as Showtime and Netflix are in discussions about airing a limited number of original episodes.  Mitchell Hurwitz, show co-creator and executive producer, told attendees on Sunday at the New Yorker Festival in New York he would like to produce nine to ten episodes that would premiere next fall and catch viewers up on the characters’ lives since the series ended on FOX in 2006.  The new episodes would be produced by 20th Century Fox Television which was behind the original single-camera series starring Jason Bateman, Michael Cera and Portia de Rossi among other cast members.  Also according to Hurwitz, the limited series could be a precursor to his Arrested Development movie idea which has been percolating for some time.

ABC tapped Ty Pennington, the host of its Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series to join upcoming new daily ABC Daytime show The Revolution.  Pennington joins Tim Gunn and fitness and nutrition expert Harley Pasternak on the daily health and lifestyle show.  The Revolution, produced by 3Ball Productions is set to premiere in January.

truTV showcases a new singing competition series Killer Karaoke from Zodiak USA and has also chosen former Jackass star Steve-O as its host.  The eight-episode series is based on an international format, Sing If You Can and will challenge contestants to break into song in the middle of extreme situations.  truTV has said Killer Karaoke will premiere in early 2012.

A father/son workplace comedy project from Jamie Tarses was picked up by FOX, cites THR.  The half-hour single-camera project from Sony Pictures Television is set in a business where the son is boss.  Wilfred writers Reed Agnew and Eli Jorne will serve as writers on the new project and serve as executive producers along with Tarses and Julia Franz.

Music and family entertainment channel, GMC is beginning production this month on a new GMC World Premiere Series, She’s Still Not Our Sister which is scheduled to premiere in December.  The limited-run series stars Jackee Harry and is based on the GMC World Premiere Gospel Play, She’s Not Our Sister which aired in June and was the highest-rated GMC World Premiere Gospel Play airing on the network to date with more than one million viewers on its inaugural night.  With four original episodes, the series will pick up where the play left off as more drama surrounds the three sisters who had discovered their late father had an illegitimate fourth daughter.

Veria Living signed yogic master, international author and former supermodel Yogi Cameron to a new primetime reality series, A Guru for You (wt) which is likely to launch in Spring 2012.  Cameron is well-known as a world expert of Ayurveda and yoga in addition to being the favorite yoga teacher of Ellen DeGeneres and a frequent guest on her weekday US talk show as well as appearances on The Dr. Oz Show and NBC’s Today.  Cameron is in pre-production on the show with 13 episodes.
