DIY Network: I Hate My Bath at 10p
NBC is retooling its second season comedy Up All Night airing on Thursday nights. The network gave the sitcom three extra episodes and will switch it from a single-camera to a multicamera format and additionally film the show in front of a live studio audience. Starring Christina Applegate, Maya Rudolph and Will Arnett, the comedy will take a three-month hiatus following the production of episode 11 which concludes next week to transform its stages into a multicamera format. Production will resume next February for five multicamera episodes bringing its total episode count for this season to 16. The remaining single-camera episodes will air in December and the series will return with new eps in April or May.
Telemundo Media detailed its plans for Election Day coverage under its political banner, Decision 2012 that is produced in collaboration with NBC News. Earlier in the day on November 6, Telemundo’s Un Nuevo Dia offers election coverage at 7a along with hourly news updates throughout the day continuing through Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste at 5p. Then at 630p, Noticiero Telemundo con Jose Diaz-Balart will broadcast live from Rock Center as a lead-in to the live special primetime coverage, Decision 2010, Election Night beginning at 7p from Democracy Plaza at New York City’s Rockefeller Center. Anchor Jose Diaz-Balart will lead Telemundo’s electoral coverage which will include Noticias Telemundo’s team of journalists and political analysts.
Syndicated daytime talk show Anderson Live from Warner Bros. will end its run after this current season. Hosted by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, the show will continue in production through March and stay on the air through its present second season. In fall 2013, Warner Bros. will launch Bethenny, starring Bethenny Frankel to stations nationwide.
Western series Hell on Wheels received a third season renewal by AMC. The next season will have 10 episodes though no premiere date has been set. Hell on Wheels, from Endemol, Entertainment One and Nomadic Pictures and starring Anson Mount, Colm Meaney and Common, averaged 2.4 million viewers during its second season.
In the New Year, E! rolls out a new series that follows the British vocal group, The Saturdays when Chasing The Saturdays debuts on January 20 at 10p. Each of the 10 half-hour episodes follows the five young women who make up the singing group as they branch out to the US after signing with the music label Mercury Records and have a new US album. The Saturdays, comprised of Mollie King, Rochelle Humes, Frankie Sandford, Vanessa White and Una Healy juggle their stardom, fashion-forward glamorous lives while dealing with husbands and lovers back home in the UK. Chasing The Saturdays is produced by Comcast Entertainment Studios.
FUEL TV’s original docu-series The Moto: Inside The Outdoors is back for a fourth season premiering November 12 at 11p. The six-part half-hour series follows motocross producer Troy Adamitis as he takes viewers to the center of the professional race circuit, the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship and highlights the action and the individual racers.
NATPE President/CEO Rod Perth revealed Mark Cuban, owner-chairman of AXS TV (formerly HDNet) and owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks will be the opening keynote speaker at the 50th anniversary market and conference held January 28-30, 2013 at Miami Beach’s Fontainebleau Resort. NATPE’s theme for the three-day event is Beyond Disruption.

Syndicated game shows Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! were both renewed by the ABC Owned Television Stations Group through the 2015-16 season. The shows were renewed for two additional years beyond stations’ current contracts by the ABC-owned stations that currently air the shows: WABC/New York; KABC/Los Angeles; WLS/Chicago; WPVI/Philadelphia; KGO/San Francisco; WTVD/Raleigh-Durham; KFSN/Fresno. The ABC Owned Television Stations Group reaches 21% of US households. Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! are produced by Sony Pictures Television, A Sony Pictures Entertainment Company and are distributed domestically by CBS Television Distribution and internationally by CBS Studios International.
Dan Harmon, the creator of sitcom Community who was let go by NBC in May from his job as the series’ show runner, has moved to Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim where his animated series Rick and Morty was approved. The network gave the series a 10-episode order which is slated to premiere in Cartoon Network’s late-night block in 2014. Rick and Morty is about a brilliant inventor, Morty and his not-so-smart grandson, Rick and their adventures together. Harmon also has a script deal happening at CBS and a comedy pilot in the works at FOX.
A&E Network cast Chloe Sevigny (Big Love) in the drama pilot Those Who Kill based on the Danish series, Den Som Draeber. The US pilot project is from writer Glen Morgan (X-Files) centers on Catherine (Sevigny), a police detective and forensic profiler, Thomas, who possess a deep understanding of the serial killers they hunt. Fox 21 is producing with Morgan developing the adaptation with Imagine Television. Morgan will also serve as EP with Jonas Allen, Peter Bose and Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo.
AMC/Sundance Channel Global will be participating at CASBAA 2012 and ahead of that market the company announced it has established its Asian headquarters with scheduling and on-air creative services located in Singapore and affiliate operations based in Hong Kong. Keith Mak was hired recently to head the affiliate distribution and marketing for the company’s Asian operations. The company has also begun an executive search for several positions including Head/Scheduling and Affiliate Marketing positions in the region. In addition, AMC/Sundance Channel Global announced an agreement with Eagle Rock Entertainment involving worldwide TV premiere rights in Asia for the Rolling Stones documentary, Crossfire Hurricane (1 x 120m) which will be send on HBO in the US. Sundance Channel will also premiere the documentary as well on TVOD to its affiliate partners prior to the linear launch. AMC/Sundance Channel Global further acquired the basic cable rights in Malaysia to multiple seasons of the series Downton Abbey and Monk from NBCUniversal International Television Distribution. Premiere window rights for the second season of The Hour have also been picked up through Shine International for Asia.
Entertainment One (eOne) has made sales deals with major broadcasters for numerous series in key international territories following MIPCOM. The Walking Dead was picked up by online pay-TV service Viaplay and Netflix in Scandinavia, Japan’s Kadokawa, FOX in Norway and Finland, DR in Denmark, Sweden’s TV4, Prima TV in Czech Republic and 4+ in Switzerland; Hell on Wheels was acquired by Viaplay and Netflix in Scandinavia; Call Me Fitz was picked up by Sony SPE in Africa, FOX Portugal and FX in Pan Asia; Netflix in Scandinavia also acquired the rights to Haven; Viaplay in Scandinavia and Prima TV in Czech Republic picked up Rookie Blue; French Canada’s Ztele acquired Primeval: New World; Canal Vie secured SugarStars; and 2X2 Russia picked up the comedy series Todd and the Book of Pure Evil while Sony Turbo in Russia picked up The Dating Guy and Femme Fatales.
