A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM msnbc

THE FUTURE ONLY GOES IN ONE DIRECTION.

msnbc leads the way with programming like Morning Joe, Hardball with Chris Matthews, Countdown with Keith Olbermann and The Rachel Maddow Show.

It’s where people go for ideas that advance our nation. Because to lean forward is to think bigger, listen harder and act faster.

msnbc. LEAN FORWARD.

~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Television actress Fran Drescher, best known for her starring role in the 1990s sitcom The Nanny, will helm a daytime talk show set to debut this November as part of a three-week preview on six FOX O&Os. The Fran Drescher Show, covering everything from “pedicures to politics” as well as life lessons will premiere November 26 on FOX’s WNYW/New York, KTTV/Los Angeles, WTXF/Philadelphia, KSAZ/Phoenix, KMSP/Minneapolis and WOFL/Orlando. The show is co-produced by Fox Television Stations and syndicator Debmar-Mercury. Scott Sternberg, Peter Marc Jacobson and Drescher will all serve as executive producers on the show and Debmar-Mercury’s Lonnie Burstein, EVP/Programming and Production developed the show and will supervise it for Debmar-Mercury. If the show performs well during this three-week preview, the aim is to gain a full national syndication launch for the 2011-2012 season.

E! tapped journalist/author Laura Ling to host the network’s documentary series E! Investigates. Ling will take an in-depth journalistic approach as she examines important and controversial topics, stories or trends in each one-hour episode. In the first episode premiering December 8 at 10p, Ling will investigate the rise of teen suicides in the US and in the December 15 episode she will look at the secret realities of military wives. Previously, Ling was VP of Current TV’s journalism department and created that network’s weekly investigative docu-series Vanguard. While at Current and during a reporting stint focused on the trafficking of North Korean women in March 2009, Ling and her colleague Euna Lee were detained by North Korean soldiers along the Chinese-North Korean border. Ling and Lee were arrested and held captive in North Korea for 140 days before being granted a special pardon to return to the US.

Nielsen released figures yesterday indicating worldwide ad spending continues to rise during the first half of 2010 and the year-to-year ad spending in the US alone increased by +3.8%. Previously, the US market withstood six consecutive quarters of ad spending declines. Advertisers spent an estimated $54 billion total in the first six months of 2010.

Next week, National Geographic Channel premieres the four-part series, Virgin Galactic, documenting the launch of the first commercial spaceliner initiated by entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson and aeronautical engineer Burt Rutan. Virgin Galactic opens October 18 at 10p and is produced for National Geographic Channel by Darlow Smithson Productions. The series is distributed by Endemol Worldwide Distribution.

Hallmark Channel has abbreviated its daytime Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia lifestyle programming block. Hallmark Channel launched the lifestyle programming from MSLO just last month initially airing shows from 10a to 6p. Hallmark Channel has decided to add classic TV series Little House on the Prairie in the 3-6p slot, which began last week.

Jared Hess, Jerusha Hess and Mike Scully are writing and serving as executive producers with 20th Century Fox Television producing.
  • Allen Gregory – This comedy from Chernin Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television was handed a seven-episode order about a famous seven-year old, Allen Gregory who has to attend elementary school with regular kids. Casting Call: (repeated from yesterday with corrected email address) World of Wonder Productions is casting for a new docu-series for a major cable network and is looking for a modern, alternative family. The family could be a real-life “Will & Grace” with a baby; a transgender with twins; a woman who is carrying her sister’s baby; and or a mother carrying her daughter’s child. The family composition may be considered odd but the love is real in your uniquely blended family. If this describes your situation or someone you know, casting would love to hear from you. Send an email to [email protected] and include a description of your family composition and what makes it work. Include names, where you live, how you live and tell us why your story is unique. Also include recent photos and a phone number where you can be reached.
