Actor/comedian Kevin Pollak will host the game show created and produced by Endemol USA, creators/producers of Deal or No Deal. The suspense-filled game will give a team $1 million in cash and in order to keep the money, team members must correctly answer seven multiple-choice questions. After the debut on December 20, Million Dollar Money Drop will air December 21 and 22 with one-hour episodes at 9p then also on December 23 for a two-hour episode at 8p. Further airdates of the show will be announced later. NBC renewed its longtime soap opera Days of Our Lives for two more years through the 2012-2013 season. Produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television, Days of Our Lives is currently in its 45th season. During the first six weeks of this fall season, Days averaged 2.6 million viewers and tied for fourth place among all daytime dramas among W18-49. MSNBC lifted its suspension of Countdown host Keith Olbermann yesterday which allows him to return to his live nightly program as of tonight. MSNBC president Phil Griffin said he thought pulling Olbermann off the air through Monday’s show was an “appropriate” move after the network learned Olbermann had violated a NBC News policy regarding on-air personalities making contributions to political candidates. After airing two episodes, AMC gave its newest series The Walking Dead a 13-episode second season order. The sophomore season renewal also coincides with a global renewal of the series via Fox International Channels (FIC) where The Walking Dead became the highest-rated original series premiere ever to air on FIC simultaneously worldwide. Last Sunday’s second episode of The Walking Dead on AMC brought in 3.3 million A18-49 viewers as well as 4.7 million total viewers. The premiere episode on Halloween night brought in 3.6 million A18-49 viewers and 5.3 million total viewers. Morning radio show host Steve Harvey will soon have his radio show on television when Centric launches The Steve Harvey Project on November 15 at 9p. The one-hour show airing nightly Monday through Friday, will feature daily segments from Harvey’s radio show as well as his sidekick Nephew Tommy and his co-hosts Shirley Strawberry and Carla Ferrell. The Steve Harvey Project is produced by Nu-Opp, Inc. Discovery Channel is moving its series Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe from Tuesdays to Sundays starting November 21 at 9p. Immediately following on November 21, the network is also premiering new series Brew Masters at 10p. A&E Network has a new original real-life series on tap with Storage Wars premiering December 1 at 10p. The 12-episode, half-hour series follows four professional buyers and their teams as they search through repossessed storage units looking for hidden treasure. The episodes watch as the bidders get a brief glimpse inside the storage units with the help of a flashlight then they must decide if the unit is worth bidding on. Storage Wars is produced for A&E by Original Productions. ION Media Networks, Inc. made a deal with WQED Multimedia to acquire WQEX-TV in Pittsburgh. The agreement has been filed with the FCC and is pending the commission’s approval and the transaction is expected to be final in the next few months. On Sunday, E! debuted a third season of Kendra at 10p attracting 2.3 million total viewers and posting a 1.58 rating among A18-49 and a 3.3 rating with W18-34. Following at 1030p, E! opened new series Married to Rock which tallied more than 1.0 million total viewers and delivered a 1.80 rating with W18-34. National Geographic Channel launched the world premiere of Great Migrations on Sunday at 8p with 3.3 million total viewers. On Sunday night, Scripps Networks and AT&T made a new distribution deal which restored Scripps’ networks HGTV, Food Network, DIY Network, Cooking Channel and Great American Country to 2.7 million AT&T U-verse subscribers. Those same subscribers lost the Scripps’ lifestyle channels for two days when AT&T decided to pull them off its lineup when contract negotiations stalled. Terms of the new contract between AT&T and Scripps were not announced. “These situations are never easy, and everyone regrets that the viewers were caught in the middle,” said John Lansing, President/Scripps Networks. “After the initial impasse, both sides took quick action to work toward a constructive solution. We especially appreciate our loyal viewers and AT&T U-verse customers for their patience.” Brian Shay, SVP/AT&T U-verse, said, “It was important to us on behalf of our customers to come to a positive resolution as quickly as possible. We appreciate everyone’s willingness to make that happen, working diligently over the weekend, so the situation wasn’t prolonged, and we thank our customers for their support and patience while we reached a fair deal.” Sundance Channel picked up the basic cable rights to the original HBO series The Comeback starring Lisa Kudrow and created by Kudrow and Michael Patrick King. Sundance Channel will debut the 13-episode series on November 23 at 11p and the show will air on Tuesday nights. The “show within the show” plot follows sitcom actress Valerie (Kudrow) as she tries to resurrect her career and through her home life. Starting December 7, Sundance Channel will pair The Comeback with the network’s new original series Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys airing at 1030p. ABC and star of classic sitcom Home Improvement Tim Allen will likely reunite in a new multi-camera comedy titled Man Up. After winning the project in a bidding war, ABC handed Man Up a put pilot order. From 20th Century Fox Television, Man Up is about a guy battling for his manhood in a female world. 21 Laps and Adelstein Co. are also producing. Jenny McCarthy will reprise her role of Courtney on CBS’ Two and a Half Men beginning with the November 22 episode, cites EW. McCarthy launched this role in 2007 and will appear in this new run over several episodes.
