Wanting a bit more, FX placed an order for one extra episode of Sons of Anarchy that will make the current fourth season tally 14 total episodes. The finale will now air on December 6 at 10p. In its present fourth season, Sons of Anarchy is posting 5.45 million total viewers and 3.71 million among A18-49. The series is produced by FX Productions and Fox 21.
Nearly three months before the second season begins, Starz announced it will move ahead with a third season of its STARZ Originals franchise, Spartacus. Season three is not yet titled though production will likely commence in New Zealand early next year. Spartacus: Vengeance premieres on Starz January 27 at 10p.
Projecting ahead 100 years, the new six-episode series 2111 premieres November 19 on Discovery en Espanol and will air on Saturdays at 8p. The series takes a futuristic look at what major cities in Latin America will become in the year 2111 and what life will be like for ordinary citizens. Narrated by Mexican journalist, Idzi Dutkiewicz, the series will take viewers to Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires by using 3D computer animation which creates real life models of these cities, houses, public spaces and more. 2111 was filmed in Japan, Korea, England, Spain and the US and features the opinion of well-known futurologists in the areas of science, technology and culture. The series 2111 will additionally debut November 16 via Discovery Channel Latin America and is an original production of Discovery Latin America/U.S. Hispanic.
HGTV gave Meg Caswell’s new series, Meg’s Great Rooms an additional order of 13 episodes. Caswell is the season six winner of the network’s HGTV Design Star. The weekly series uses Caswell’s background in criminology to identify what she refers to as “design crimes” involving tired, outdated common spaces such as family rooms, dens, great rooms that she transforms into functional spaces for today’s active lifestyles.
Beginning today, Estrella TV, from Spanish-language broadcaster Liberman Broadcasting, Inc. (LBI) debuts the new daytime talk show, Patty. Hosted by Latin actress/singer, Patty Manterola, the single-topic talk show will highlight current issues in front of a live studio audience as well as feature interviews with entertainers and recording artists. Patty will air Monday-Thursday at 6p.
Sunday’s series launch of Hell on Wheels on AMC at 10p drew in 4.4 million viewers, which ranks now as the second highest series premiere in the network’s history after The Walking Dead. The premiere episode of Hell on Wheels also attracted 2.4 million with A18-49 and 2.3 million among A25-54.
Upcoming talk show Steve Harvey has been sold in more than 55% of the US announced NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution. The one-hour Steve Harvey, hosted by TV personality/comedian/radio show host and author, Steve Harvey will debut in fall 2012. The talk show was picked up station groups in top markets including the previously-announced NBC Owned Television Stations, Fox Television Stations and CBS Television Stations. Furthermore, Steve Harvey will air on stations owned by Hearst Television, Cox Communications, Capitol Communications Company, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Local TV, Lin Television among others. Endemol USA produces Steve Harvey.
FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), the brand extension unit of FremantleMedia acquired the worldwide rights to Bellator Fighting Championships and FME will exclusively represent the brand’s international TV distribution rights in addition to its licensing, digital and ancillary rights for US and international markets. Presently, Bellator Fighting Championships is in its fifth season on MTV2 where it is seen in more than 80 million homes and it is simulcast in hi-def to 30 million homes via EPIX2 as well as weekly on Spike.com. Viacom, parent company to MTV Networks recently purchased a majority ownership in Bellator Fighting Championships and Viacom will premiere the series on Spike TV in early 2013 where it will be seen in more than 100 million homes. Bellator Fighting Championships highlights mixed-marital arts fighting with 12-week, eight-man tournaments.
Cable channel FEARnet featuring premier horror, thriller and suspense content, acquired the domestic rights to the new anthology series, Tom Holland’s Twisted Tales from Dead Rabbit Films. Ten episodes of the series of short films, written and directed by Tom Holland (Fright Night, Child’s Play and Stephen King’s adaptations Thinner and The Langoliers) will be available on FEARnet.com starting July 2012. Holland also owns Dead Rabbit Films along with his partner David Chackler who will also serve as executive producer.
Multi-platform entertainment company, Shout! Factory picked up the classic TV series Route 66 from Roxbury Entertainment. Shout! Factory now owns major proprietary rights to the series including all 116 episodes, archived materials, global home entertainment and digital rights as well as North American broadcast rights. Shout! Factory will spearhead a multi-pronged launch of Route 66 through packaged media, digital distribution through electronic-sell-through (EST), VOD, SVOD and North American broadcast, cable and syndication. Roxbury Entertainment and producer Kirk Hallam continue to hold the trademarks and television remake and film rights to Route 66 though a TV series reboot of Route 66 is in development in collaboration with Shout! Factory.
ABC bought an untitled comedy project from former Disney head Michael Eisner. The single-camera project is set in the 1980s and focuses on the early days of restaurateurs and co-chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger and their business partnership and friendship. Jeff Greenstein is on board to write and produce with Eisner and Noel Bright and Steve Cohen are also attached as executive producers. Feniger and Milliken, who also star in Food Network’s Too Hot Tamales and have appeared on Bravo’s Top Chef Masters, will be involved as non-writing executive producers.
Hannibal Lecter may be coming to the small screen via NBC. The network has reportedly made a deal to create a television series based on the Silence of the Lambs franchise with Pushing Daisies creator and former Heroes writer Bryan Fuller. The agreement between the two calls for a straight-to-series order with no pilot if NBC approves the script. At present time, there are no details on the adaptation which would be based on Thomas Harris’ series of novels.
A deal was struck between international sales and distribution company, ohm:tv and Leopard Films USA, part of the Argonon group involving the new format The Imposter. As part of the deal, Leopard Films USA will hold the rights to produce the program in the US with ohm:tv and Pausoka Entertainment S.L. in charge of the global distribution rights. The Imposter is a one-hour family format mixing both reality and game show elements, created by Spanish production company Pausoka Entertainment S.L.
Stephen David Entertainment (SDE) and Brainstorm Digital are involved in a strategic partnership covering event series and documentary recreations. The first project between the two entities is HISTORY’s The Men Who Built America, a major TV event about the top builders, dreamers and believers whose feats moved the US ahead following the Civil War.

Friday A18-49 Analysis: On this ninth day of November Sweep, CBS won Friday among A18-49 with a 1.6/5, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. Univision took the 8p hour with Una Familia con Suerte at 1.7/6 and FOX’s Kitchen Nightmares made a comeback in second place at 1.5/5. NBC’s new series Grimm won the 9p hour with a 1.8/6 albeit narrowly as Univision’s La Fuerza del Destino was a very close #2 at 1.8/5. Then at 10p, CBS shined with Blue Bloods at 2.1/6 while NBC’s Dateline was next at 1.2/4.

Beginning November 14, Meghan Hooper takes on a new position as VP/Program Acquisitions at Lifetime Networks. Meghan will work closely with Christian Drobnyk, SVP/Scheduling and Acquisitions to manage all program acquisitions for Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network and Lifetime Real Women. Based in New York, Meghan will also report directly to Christian Drobnyk. Meghan will join Lifetime Networks from NBCUniversal where she was Director/Program Acquisitions and Administration.
ABC News welcomes three to its ranks starting with Kelly Cobiella joining as a Correspondent based in London. For the last eight years, Kelly has been with CBS News based in Miami, Dallas and New York. ABC News also hired meteorologist Ginger Zee to the weekend edition of Good Morning America who hails from WMAQ in Chicago. Ginger begins at ABC News this Wednesday and will first appear as Weather Anchor on GMA Weekend this Saturday. Thirdly, ABC News added Bazi Kanani as a Digital Journalist based in Nairobi. Previously, Bazi was with KUSA in Denver where she was a general assignment reporter and anchor of the weekday 9p newscast.
