A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM WARNER BROS. DOMESTIC CABLE DISTRIBUTION
HARRY POTTER IS HOTTER THAN EVER Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 10-Day Total: $201,089,000* Available exclusively from Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution CYNTHIA TURNER’S
Good morning. It’s Tuesday, November 29, 2005, and this is your first early morning briefing. While no one is using the word “cancelled”, it would appear three more more shows have been tossed. Threshold on CBS will finish up its 13 episode order and then halt production. And yet, it comes off the CBS primetime schedule effective immediately, which is generally considered a bad sign. Repeats of Criminal Minds will step in on Tuesdays at 10p, as will a Victoria Secret special and the two hour finale of Amazing Race on December 13. Reunion on Fox will also finish up production its original 13 ep order, tho how much longer it will remain on the air is still unclear. Hot Properties on ABC will return to the bench next month. The time period will see a new show in January called Crumbs. Three Week Avgs of November 2005 Sweep-to-Date, according to Nielsen Media Research: 11/3-11/23/05 Tonight’s Finale: WE: Women’s Entertainment will debut three new original or acquired series this month, beginning with Secret Lives of Women on December 13 at 10p. Each episode in this 60m series will focus on different women overcoming a variety of obstacles, addictions and/or barriers. Daddy’s Spoiled Little Girl debuts on December 14 at 10p, and focuses on little and not-so-little girls and the extents their daddy’s will go to make them happy. And finally, from Plantworks Inc., debuting on December 28 at 9p is Race to the Altar where couples compete for a chance in a variety of physical and/or mental challenges in hopes of winning their fantasy wedding. Race to the Altar is hosted by Lisa Dergen. E! Entertainment Television has picked up and will order all new episodes of The Simple Life, which despite previous news reports will star Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. The new eps are scheduled to debut this spring. The new season is titled The Simple Life: Till Death Do Us Part, and is produced by Bunim-Murray Productions in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television. This year’s Super Bowl half time show will be sponsored entirely by Sprint (to the tune of $12 million dollars), and will be play host to The Rolling Stones. According to Hollywood Reporter, it looks like the hit Fox series House may be showing up on USA Network and Bravo, in a cable syndication deal orchestrated by NBC Universal Television Distribution. Nothing definite yet. The WB will premiere its second original live-action American Girl TV movie, Felicity: An American Girl Adventure tonight at 8p. Produced by Revolution Studios, Red Om Films and American Girl, Inc. in association with Warner Bros. TV Productions, the movie is based on Felicity Merriman, a character from American Girl’s historical doll and book collection. This is the second American Girl movie for the WB, and its second original live action film. In anticipation of tonight’s movie, we asked a real life modern girl to screen the film, and here is what she had to say:Felicity loves to ride horses. She lives with her wealthy family in Williamsburg, Virginia, and it’s the year of 1736 when there was lots of horses. The movie begins with it being Felicity’s tenth birthday. Back then that meant she was a woman. I liked to watch Felicity and her friends as they learn how to become proper ladies, but also how they want to be free to do what men do. When Felicity finds a horse that she falls in love with, she is told she can’t ride because she is a girl. I liked this movie because I am almost nine and it taught me how life was back then for a girl my age. This is a good family movie because it shows how family and friends help each other out in tough times. It also gets you into the Christmas spirit because people that once were not friendly, come together for Christmas dinner and have a great time by having a big feast and sing Christmas songs. The End.by Jackie Pihonak, proud owner of two American Girl dolls Stratford, Connecticut Age 9 * NEW ORDERS / CASTING / DEVELOPMENT / PRODUCTION *UPN has a new series coming along, no official launch date yet, called Get This Party Started from Grodner, with Kristin Cavallari and Ethan Erickson set to host. Each weekly episode focuses on real people as they attempt to plan and throw a surprise party. NBC has ordered up two projects from Baer Bones and Wolf Films: Brave New World and The Whole Truth, according to Variety. Brave New World is based in the world of science and its technological advances which may, or may not, be in opposition to some people’s moral ethics. Patrick Harbinson is signed on to write this script. The latter, The Whole Truth revolves around a television investigative reporter and the lengths he will go to get the full story. This project will be written by Jonathan Greene. Fox has ordered a project from HBO Independent Prods and Parallel Entertainment, called Big Loud Lisa, and starring comedienne Lisa Lampanelli who Variety describes as a female Don Rickles. The script will be written by Steve Rudnick and Leo Benvenuti, who will also exec produce along with Lampanelli. WB has ordered up a pilot starring Nick Lachey as a newlywed and a big league baseball player. As you might have guessed, Jessica Simpson is not involved. Danny Jacobson will write the comedy pilot. ABC has an untitled drama project with penalty in development about a woman who is a “relationship expert” who followed her fiance to an Alaskan town over run with men, only to find her fiance has been cheating on her, says Variety. Jenny Bicks is writing the script as well as exec producing along with James Mangold and Cathy Konrad. The WB has also picked up a project from Jenny Bicks and HBO Independent Prods, this one is called Mommies Who Drink, which, according to Variety, is based on the novel by Brett Paesel by the same name (the book is scheduled for release thru Warner Books this summer). The project is a drama about mothers who are going thru the real life struggles of raising kids. And finally, Bicks is working on a third project, this one for Showtime, called 36-24-36, about three women – grandma, mom and daughter – who own and operate a strip club. * EXECUTIVE MOVES *Discovery Networks U.S. Advertising Sales has announced a strategic organizational realignment of its headquarters in New York City.
